Country covering Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters"? Chris Stapleton Vocal ANALYSIS

Музыка

I've listened to a lot of Metallica on this channel, and know that I've only heard a small section of their total discography (Unforgiven 2 and 3 are coming, I promise). And the covers I've heard Chris Stapleton sing have been absolutely mind blowing for me. So what happens when he covers "Nothing Else Matters"? I didn't know, so I had to check it out!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Chris Stapleton performing "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica for the first time.

Oh you nailed that one! Never watched it when it was actually in syndication but FX had the whole series on some years ago and I taped all of them and got to binge watch the entirety in a few months time. I was sad when it was over, but I think it was much cooler to be able to run through it like that. Incredible show. I do have to say there was a lot of nights I would look up and it would be five or 6:00 in the morning because I couldn't quit watching it 😂

@@mariebishop7357 Agreed. I believe the original Metallica version was played on Supernatural. But this version would fit as well. Also, have you seen the show The Leftovers? it's a highly underrated show. A cover version of "Nothing Else Matters " by Apocalyptica is played during the opening scene of a pivotal episode. It's so haunting and it fits the show perfectly. Check the song out when you get the chance.

Firefly Lane? Or is there also a show called Firefly? I saw Firefly Lane starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke and besides being a nice story, since the girls grow up in the 70s, there's a lot of nice 70s imagery, including music from that time, as well as the 80s and onwards.

Only lasted like 13 episodes but also spawned a movie called Serenity. I'm in the minority that is somewhat happy it was cancelled early rather than being dragged out too long like other Joss Whedon shows, but still too early.

I am a metalhead, but the way I cried when I saw Chris Stapleton live because of the way his voice just speaks to my soul was something else. There's so many amazing songs you could analyze of his on here but it's impossible to put into words just how unfathomably talented he is. A song that James Hetfield was reluctant to bring to the rest of the band. Initially, the song was not meant to be released, as Hetfield had written it for himself, but after drummer Lars Ulrich heard it, it was considered for the album. Elton John called it one of the best songs ever written. Now the song has 138 artist covers. For me, I'll stick to the original by Metallica.

Try band called Volbeat, and song Fallen. It's a song for vocalists late father. Try live from beyond hell above heaven, very emotional. Also great song is Lola Montez or For Evigt. This band sounds better live than in studio.

Elizabeth, speaking of covers, please at some point listen to "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. Then follow immediately with Metallica's cover of that song. They are both so amazing and deserve a deep dive. You won't be disappointed!

I friend/coworker that hates has been teaching me to play guitar, he hates country but likes Christ Stapleton. We were working on one of Chris's songs and this came up after he about paused it I said let it go I think you'll like it. Lets this play he starts messing with his guitar then starts playing and got into it and I just thought no way I can do this yet I'll just watch. He played like the entire length at the end he said thank you said he had not had a chance to play like that in like 3 months. I like country despite he doesn't like it he's shown me a few songs and I think he's found a few other country songs he likes.

Sinead O'Connor's recording is the Prince's "Nothing Compares To You" is the definitive version of that song. Rare as it is for a cover version to eclipse the original artist it is even rare still for another cover to stand up with the artist who made the definitive cover. Chris Stapelton's cover of "Nothing Compare's To You" the night Prince died is one of those rarer covers.

this could easily be a main backing track to either SOA (sons of anarchy) or The Punisher (netflix version w/ jon bernthal). that gritty dirty western blues with a kiss of anger that this song inhibits is masterful. there's so much power & pain in this version......absolutely incredible cover of an already timeless song that never failed to pull at the heartstrings.

This reaction was so full of awesomeness! - Your descriptions 😂❤️ - Firefly 🎬🔥 - Chris Stapleton 🎤 - Metallica 🎸 - Chocolate cake 🤤 (That’s what we call it in Germany 😉) There was only Dimash missing, which would have made it even more perfect. 😉 That siren sounded exactly like the alarm sirens in my city. They get tested every month - so I know them well. I wonder if that sound is somehow universal standard. 🤔 Your American ambulance and police sirens sound totally different from ours.

You just mentioned rain about this video and it made me curious. We got a big win followed by rain storm last night down here in the Phoenix valley.
