Valve actually has extremely talented animators on board already. The problem is that whenever they make an FPS game, the first person animations always gets the short end of the stick compared to everything else. Everything from the characters to the environmental set pieces always gets top quality animations but for some reason the first person animations are always comparatively the weakest in terms of quality.

In my opinion, in old CSGO they had some kind of a charm that was making them good. But with good graphics and lighting they look bad to be honest.

I really wish Valve redid these animations for CS2, it would go a long way to remove the feeling that this is CSGO ported to a new engine. Even adding small things like having the bolt release on the M4 stick out before your character slaps it would have added a little bit to the game.

I'm pretty sure valve has more budget for cs go than activision has for cod mw2019, and look at the animations and sound, complete contrast. @@ThisIsGlitch they’re great only in terms of functionality-you always have a strict animation that takes strict amount of time, which is understandable. But as for the aesthetics-well, they’re pretty lame. Boring change of mag and pulling the bolt (even if you have a bullet in a chamber) every time the same way as before. Although MP5’s reload is not bad. Still nothing special, strictly functional but due to the weapon’s hold-open catch it looks more interesting than the rest of the animations. But why am I amongst the people that are having issues with possible new reload animations? Yeah. Their functionality. This game requires you to instinctively remember how long the animations are to be more effective. Rehauling the animations either will shatter the balance or could require lots of work for the animators to synchronise the time of each old and new animations which is probably possible but…needless at all, I suppose.

@@elzeban dunno, brother. I really tend to think that CS is loved by people because it’s always the same game as always. And the only thing they really really need to work on is anti-cheat. As for the rest of them things in the game? If they would change something aesthetically-that would be awesome, if not-well, we all can live with that.

Despite GabeN saying realism = less fun. I still think Valve and Bethesda make the worst fucken reload animations in existence.

Do agree with other comments that the game could use some animation overhauls since 2012. maybe from in-house Valve animators. or commissioned, like Mr bright side from Insurgency.

I love Counter Strike, it's my first love and 25 years later I'm still playing it. But man these gun-mechanics and reload animations is just unacceptable in 2023. We are not in 1995 anymore wtf is this.

I like the mag drop sound but i do hope they update the reload animations to match with it. the same clip gets put back in still.

Some of these look really good but a lot of these are extremly odd, especially for these days standards. I don't want to see another MW2019 clone with these reloads, and I think that speaks for most people, but I'd like if the motions were a lot more fluid and made more sense for practicality.

Honestly, even by 2012 standards I always found the game's weapon models to be quite ugly, I just brushed it off because it was a multiplayer game at the time, especially its reloads, but 12 years later the minimum was to have new animations. .. The weapons in the game appear to be airsoft or toy weapons.

I really hope they redid the animations and just havent shown them off yet.

CS:GO reload animations always looked ugly to me so out of curiosity, I watched the video at 0.25x speed and... the amount of clipping in these animations is absolutely ridiculous for this popular game, there might be few if even that many reloads without clipping or unconnected arms from the gun/mag. For example, take a look at FAMAS, the left hand posture while changing the mag looks like it's possibly ripped from AK reload which makes one part of the mag float and other clip through the fingers...

they were made in 2012. they will probably redo them since a lot of them are so broken right now (glail and mp5 bolt, m249 and negev belts, etc). I always liked that csgo animations weren't flashy. All they need to do is clean them up a bit. seeing those over the top violent first person animations gets tiring to look at.

Weapons look like they have no weight.

Well, it's just another CS:GO in the end. And if there's something I hate are the mirrored guns (like the old CS) and the same animation everytime you reload. I just don't like it

here's hoping if they do revamp the animations, it better not be fkn Modern Warfare (or like Hyper's sh!t)

Agree. While mw or hypers animations are good, shaky cameras wouldn't really be practical in a competitive game like this. Maybe update the animations, but keep the simplicity

I think Valve is just "Copying and Pasting" the same animations from CS:GO to CS2 but the progression and inventory of players being transferred from CS:GO to CS2 is a good excuse to keep these animations.
