One of the only issues I have with these amazing animations besides the reused sounds is how leisurely they look when you're pinned down by 2 bulldozers and the rest of your team is slamming their faces into a wall. Edit: after thinking it over and looking over tons of other games, these still might be my favorite reloads of all time for the most part.

What I love most about these animations is the conveyance of weight and inertia. Like, the slide of the pistols being released and slamming forward shows in the sudden jerking response of the hand. Granted I'm no weapons expert, but when I used a Glock irl, it looks and "feels" like what these animations show. Amazing attention to detail on those parts.

You can hear water sloshing when he takes out the mag. Defintely imperfect foley.

Some of the highest quality reload animations right here. Every gun seems to carry this weight to it, which I absolutely adore. It really bumps up the immersion of you can believe that the weapons you’re using actually have some kind of weight to them.

The thing about payday 2 reloads is that they are quite smooth and very satisfying. There’s no jitter or fumbling or speed (unless you have speed mag), its just smooth reloads

@Ich Heisse Hans every weapon with a vertical foregrip and mod options for the foregrip (e.g. Queen's Wrath and Uzi) will have vertical foregrips attached in every single possible combination. The Diesel engine does not allow for one weapon to have multiple different animation sets, according to the developers.

If you turn the subtitles on, it tells you the in-game name of the weapons as well as the IRL counterpart it’s based off of. And the country of origin plus the year it was released/and or developed.

I like to think a Counter-Strike: Source weapon skin animation creator did the animations for these weapons. The way the arms sway around remind me of custom reload animations from CS:S weapon skins in the early 2010s.

the one thing I never truly pay that much attention to when I was playing the game itself was the fact that the pistol class of weapons has so much variety in the weight of their animations, like there are pistols that weigh nothing, the mini Glock and mini M1911 for example, and then you look at the animation for a gun like the deagle or 5-7, and it looks like it actually weighs more than the rest. A great deal of care went into these animations, and it's a shame that aside from this tiny niche, nobody seems to acknowledge that.

to be honest, for me the most underrated part of FPS games are the reload animations, like most people wouldn't even stop to look at them.

@Pelswad It seems that the Unica opens the traditional way. It does look similar though. Edit: I looked at the wiki and it is _based_ on the Unica. I never seen an upwards cylinder one though.

The game may have aged, but every animation is as crisp as ever. The team that did these is absolutely 5 star.

Payday’s reload animations look very simple but they are very satisfying and smooth
