Count & CountD functions in Tableau

These both count the number of items in a specific group, however, COUNT counts all items and COUNTD counts only unique items in the same group. -

    Hello, I love your video on tableau. Can you tell me how I can find duplicate values in two columns or under the row section in tableau? I have a large data from two columns and they contain duplicate values/figures. Do I have to create a calculated field to find the duplicates and if so, kindly tell me the formula or recommend a solution to my question. Thanks.

    Can you help, how to calculate sum of COUNTD(Client ID) ??

  • @TableauTim

    @TableauTim

    3 жыл бұрын

    You cant do Sum of copuntd because itsa lready an aggregation. I assume you just want to count the number of unique clients. COUNTD(ClientID) will do just that,.

    @Tableau Tim , What if I want to add two COUNT() categories? How do I go about it?

  • @TableauTim

    @TableauTim

    Two separate calculations. This is the same in any database or analytical tool. Each computation is a separate calculation. Feel free to write an example if I’m not understanding your question correctly

    Nice tutorial, but honestly, it will be better to show the difference while counting OrderId per category. It's a bit weird to count sub-categories when you use them in rows.

    Wait? if thats countD. But how would you count if one Colum contains 2 sets? e.g. say in the "Sold from" Colum you have "online" and "in person" and on a bar chart you want to show the number of all sales vs the number of online sales on the same dual axis: use in the column: "sold from", then Filter "online", then right click and press count(sold from). This gives you the number of "online" sales. And on the same axis you want to also put the number of all sales, but the filer is still active from the last point and can't separate the two? i.e Colum: Count(all sales) Count(online) rows: shop (order descending on all sales) I've also tried making sets of each but you cant use the count function on a set

    Why would my count of a rank not show in my grand totals? 😵‍💫

  • @TableauTim

    @TableauTim

    Grand total uses a special aggregation. Count of rank is already an aggregation. What you trying to achieve?

  • @tag_of_frank

    Plot count of ID and aggregate by date, it won't show zeros. ZN function does not help. Tableau is insane.

    I think the issue here is the aggregation. You able to share a screen shot via imgur image sharing service and post the url here?
