Thankfully the Mets will have a replenished bullpen with Díaz coming back and SRF not too far behind. We can’t keep letting Diekman pitch if he can’t put guys away.

I would add Otavino. He stresses me out every time he comes in. I see that other bum is back Houser. He cannot find the plate either. How many games are being blown because of the bullpen.

​@@Harlemnite7Ottavino has been a solid relief pitcher for years. He has had his struggles this season but he should have remained in the game against the Nats instead of Diekman coming in to face a left handed batter. Ottavino had retired all three batters he faced and he's a veteran that has been in that situation many times. Mendoza blew that game by over managing the situation.

@@johncummings5350Setting aside whether it’s Mendoza’s fault (fans always think they know better, but we don’t have the info the team has, nor are we good enough to get paid to make these decisions), Ottavino’s peripherals look fine. He’s been pretty unlucky. Walk rate is back down, K rate is back up, he’s only allowed 3 HRs in 33.2 IP, and since the beginning of June, his ERA is under 3, much more in line with his 3.13 FIP. As a sinker/sweeper guy, he has historically had more trouble with lefties, so I understand the thinking. Diekman’s control has just been all over the place, though.

Acuna should be up. He can play a lot of positions. Sproat is pitching great in AA, but I wouldn't rush him.

The Mets don't need to bring up Acuna yet, what the Mets definitely need is to sign some Good pitchers. Mets need to sign some solid pitchers period.....Let's Go Mets 😊.

They can sell Bader and replace him with Acuna. They can sell Severino, Manaea, and Quintana and replace them with Senga, Butto, and Lucchesi and still have Peterson, Scott, Megill, Houser, and Sproat.

Why is Diekman still on this team? Why isn't there a 2nd lefty in the bullpen?

I could not believe when Gary stated b4 Winker was coming up that Winker has hit 5 homeruns in like 22 at bats off Houser!!! Our pitching coach Hefner or Our manager didnt run out to tell Hauser to be careful keep the ball outside and or low or walk him!!! Instead no one did anything they should have & Hauser threw a hanging middle curve & now winker has 6 home runs in 23 at bats & we R below 500 again! Ya cant keep givin away games to these crappy teams! I bet the Braves or Dodgers woulda went out! Thats my view!

It is the player’s job to execute. Matchup notwithstanding that was an awful pitching mistake that good MLB players make you pay for.

Totally disagree with you. Winker came up with one out. With Winker's numbers against Houser they should have walked him and they would have gotten the inning ending double play ball by Meneses.

With the Met's offense they should be a .600 team. With the Met's pitching, they should be a .400 team. That's why they average out to a .500 team. FIX THE BULLPEN!!!!!!

The starting pitching has been good enough to be .500 or better. If the bullpen was good we’d be well north of .500. If the pen had been good, hadn’t been ravaged by injuries and Diaz’s issues coming back, and the offense hadn’t been mismanaged, waiting so long to go get JDM, Baty over Vientos for first 45 games, and waiting forever before calling up Iglesias to replace black holes in the lineup I honestly don’t think the Phillies would be out of reach. If the offense was managed correctly and Butto was moved from rotation to bullpen this would likely be close to a .550 team. Diaz having issues coming back from injury, Ramey getting hurt, Drew Smith getting hurt, SRF getting hurt…..can’t avoid that. Also regarding the bullpen……we should have kept Megill up and DFA’ed one of the bums we have out there. His peripherals as a starter aren’t bad. FIP of 3.34 says as much. Walls are a bit high but his K’s are as well. He rarely gives up HR’s. He’s one of our 13 best pitchers and should be with the MLB team.

I think you make a reasonable point. He hasn’t actually been that great in the minors. Even his recent hot streak has been driven by a really high BABIP, which I don’t trust because AAA defense is pretty bad. He hasn’t made much hard contact.

Adding Acuña and Sproat could take us to the next level. Let's go Mets!

AAA pitching is a joke. You don't rush that move. Baty is carving up the international league. Vientos needed to play every day & over a year & a half to cut his his strikeouts down. Sproat needs to get his time in & develop. Megill is a better pitcher to fit as a long reliever, opener, bullpen game. Skenes is going to shutout for 8 innings. Again, these aren't just a walk in the park teams in the Nats & Pirates. They will be lucky to win 2 games in the weekend series. It all depends on if we get the June or May/July Mets.

@@Mitchropolitan I think that they will end the month about two or three games under 500. The Mets were bound to cool off. Septemer will be their real cruicbel In September,they play 7 games against the Phillies, 3 against the Braves, 3 against the Brewers, and 3 against the Red Sox.

@@MitchropolitanAbsolutely. An .800 OPS is below average in the International League, so let’s pump the brakes on Acuña. He doesn’t hit for much power, and seems more BABIP dependent than anything, and defense in AAA is pretty bad. Meanwhile, Sproat is still in AA, and he started the year in High-A. I’d like to see him dominate AAA before calling him up. Fans get a little too pumped up about what prospects are likely to do, forgetting that they usually struggle when they first come up. Rarely do they hit the ground running.

These past two games eill come back to haunt us. Should have won all four. This does show that we are still just a 500 team. Trade Alinso Quintana and Severino don’t think we are going to be anything other than a 79 win team

The Mets won’t consider trading Alonso and probably Severino as well unless they have an epic collapse before the trade deadline. If they’re still within range of a playoff spot, I don’t think they’ll sell off too many pieces, especially their better players.

With NO one in the bullpen you can trust, God himself couldn't help this team. They need bullpen arms that are effective !

It sure looks like the Mets are coming back to the mean. Last 7 games hitting is poor, the 'pen is still shaky, starting pitching is better, Diaz return will help.

Butto being in the bullpen will be huge. He should have never been sent down. The guy was clearly one of our best 13 pitchers.

Quickly he’s been MIA for two years now, and his spiking the bat after yet another popup is getting old!

Lindor sucked for 2 months, and as such does not deserve to be in the All Star game.

Lindor has been great since the first few weeks of the season. Not sure why one of the best shortstops in the game and in Mets history continues to get hate like this. He had a slow start for a few weeks but that’s it. He’s been fantastic.

@@LockedOnMetsLindor has been great since the first 8 games of the season. Cut out the first 8 games, and he has a 132 wRC+ since April 7. He has a career high barrel rate, and his best expected stats since 2018. And he’s still an elite defender. Lindor is not the problem, and he does deserve an All-Star nod, but SS is so deep that he won’t make the team. Maybe Nimmo will, though.

The Mets ..with a series of impact moves could make a run. Senga has to come back and Diaz has to return to all star form. If the Mets convert a SP or two to BP arms..or go get one..the Mets have enough to get in and do some damage. Mets have to get into the tournament..then have a team that can win in the post season. I think they can do it.

They need to get through the rest of the season first. They had a very easy schedule in June. The last week of July, they face the Yankees, Braves and Twins. Let's see how they fare against real competition.
