Can you share the source for the laboratory testing for the Trojan and JCI Interstate battery? When you say a lifecycle of 500 cycles or 300 cycles are you stating to 80% of initial capacity?

I don’t deep discharge my golf carts on the boat past 50%. I wonder what the results would have been if you had done your comparison down to 50% depth of discharge. 80% really would tax the plate grids. But given similar price, it would seem Trojan would be the better buy where you are. In Canada, I think the Trojans are quite a bit more expensive. BTW, that should be 630kwh and 417kwh for total energy (not power) for the life of the batteries. You forgot to propagate the “hours” unit.

I think it was 600kw*hr rather than 600kw. and 400 kw*hr (for costco). So, a unit of total energy rather than total power.

There is no absolute or definitive answer to the question asked. Every person who shares info like this is a 3rd party individual sharing info we civilians can't get from the manufacturers. They share some info and cloak other stuff in marketing BS. I personally thank this fellow for what he shared. Each guy tries to summarize and dumb down the complex subject. They are not battery test engineers who test not only their own on performance but most others well. Costco like WallyMart contract with the battery manufacturers and didictste the price point. The manufacturer has to meet it to get the contract. Then the engineers go back to redesign that battery so they not only meet the price point but make the margin (profit) to stay in business. They can only squeeze their suppliers for cheaper raw materials like lead, the most expensive item in a battery. Or they can take out material, lowering the performance. I don't know if WallyMart still does this but they did this to the more expensive dlsr's they sold with the same model number as name of the manufacturer like Cannon. Walmart's was cheaper than what you thought was the same model from another source. But those identical cameras were not identical. The Wallmart camera was cheapened down either using less robust components or materials, etc.

Yeah mate sorry. I could only handle 3 minutes of that video before that music started screwing with my equilibrium. That music is way too loud and just plain ridiculous. Its a shame cause the info was handy.

Anyone have good luck with interstates on a golf cart? I've heard about 3 years life compared to 5 years from Trojans. But now trojan is making interstates they say, any input will be appreciated

with the trojan, inparticular the T105 does the 80% discharge still apply when two are wired to 12v or does this then revert them to 50% recommended depth of discharge ?

It's a bit difficult to understand what you're asking. I'm assuming you're asking if you wire two trojan 6-volt batteries in series to supply 12 volts will it affect the maximum recommended 80% discharge rating. the answer is no since they are in series the total capacity would be 210AH at 12 volts. A single 6-volt battery would be 210 amp hours at 6 volts by stringing two 6 volt batteries in series you double the voltage but retain the same capacity. if you wire two 6 volt batteries in parallel you double the battery banks amp hour capacity but retain the 6-volt rating Either way you retain the same nominal wattage capacity. 12x210=2520 watts 6x420= 2520 watts

Any reviews on The Battery Source batteries? seems a lot of people are selling carts with those batteries in it.

I'm looking at the T-105 vs the Costco battery. The reports on the Costco site for the Interstate battery are all negative. What's your take on the bad reviews. Thanks, didn't the music.

I've been getting a year plus on four costco batteries in a bank for 24v. Its warranty is my main reason. 1 year return no questions asked. My inverter only discharges the batt. To 80% before alarm. Ive had a couple last 2 years. But mostly around a year.

@@milliondollar2981 Something is severely wrong if he gets only 1 YEAR with a discharge down to 80% SOC. BUT, if it a discharge down to 80% DOD, every day, then 356 cycles is correct !

Looking up the history of both batteries they seem to last equal to 232 amp power us battery probably has a 30-minute discharge rate advantage over the t105 both are strong batteries mfg in usa

Music was distracting

Please fact check this with interstate. My interstate rep states that jci no longer makes the Costco interstate branded batteries and that in fact Trojan now makes the batteries for interstates 6v line. Trojan has been making them for almost 18months now for interstate

I have no idea what the "lifetime power" means in the math section - power is a rate, not an amount of energy. What seems most relevant are the number of cycles in a battery lifetime and the amp hours extractable upon reaching 80% discharge. Are the battery amp hour ratings saying how many amp hours can be drawn upon reaching 80% discharge?

That's what lifetime power is. . . AH * USABLE CYCLES*VOLTAGE=LIFETIME POWER. It's a bit more than just capacity of a fully charged battery. It also takes into account how well/many times a particular battery will cycle from discharged to charged before replacement.

If two 6v batteries are connected in series and one battery develops a defect, will the current return to 6v or hover somewhere between 6v and 12v?

a 6V battery is actually three 2V cells in series inside, and a 12V battery is six 2V cells. If any one cell dies, the battery is generally dead and should be recycled. Also, current is measured in amps , not volts.

@leecyrille - NOTE: He did *not* name his source. I would only trust an independent testing lab. Data from manufacturers, for lifetime CYCLES are usually not obtainable in the real world.

When I saw all of the comments complaining about the music I thought people were just whining. I made it to 2:15 and had to stop the video. I appreciate you trying to compare the two batteries to help consumers, but the music is too much.
