Not including major expenses such as rent or mortgage- the cost is astronomical! I cannot imagine what It is for families with multiple children who also need: school fees, books/supplies, bus fare, lunch money, clothing, diapers, formula etc.!

This was one of the main reasons why my mom is living mostly self sufficient in Jamaica, the only thing left to do is install solar panels. Budgeting may not be useful for some but it is for my family of six. I do bulk buy shopping every six to 12 months and rotate what I use so nothing goes to waste, then once a week buy fruit and veg some we grow, we are spending next to nothing in the U.K. plus I make everything from scratch, I have three kids with sickle cell and have to be very careful what they eat, when they have been in Jamaica for months on end health wise they thrive. We are a family that loves growing our own food so when we move to Jamaica it will be amazing, I love seeing what my mom grows in her garden, she rarely shops at the grocery store.

So what you're saying is that I should forget about early retirement and continue to work to afford a decent lifestyle in Jamaica, lol. JPS, don't get me started. When I get my bill I'm usually questioning how come it's so much considering I don't live in the house all year round. The cost of food has skyrocket over the last few years which has caused me to cancel my yearly barrel sending. I have two barrels almost completed to send but decided against sending them and instead will distribute the items among friends and family here. When I factor the cost to send them plus clearing and pick up them up, it makes no sense. My advice to anyone is to watch your pennies as things are going to get even worst, unfortunately.

Shoot! I'll use flashlights and battery operated lamps in Jamaica with some solar. Although I don't like gas stove. I'll use it until I switch to electric. I don't need AC. I'll open the windows for the breeze. We now have USB fans. I''ll charge them from the USA. What you pay for electric is what I pay in the winter for heating and electric. Actually your expenses are not that bad, It's comparable to mine. I would'nt find it a problem but for someone who isn't earning alot there it might be a lot.

No medical expenses such as dental care, here in the US we have cleaning every 6 months, preventative medical care at least once per year, over 40 you need a mammogram, over 50 you need a colonoscopy. Eye care once yearly, glasses or contacts lenses If you have children in high school or college don’t talk about those costs

The cosat of living in Jamaica is extremly high for the people live and work there , but when you compare it to what we are paying in the US it very cost effective. Frankly I don;t know what the solution is because if they raise wages they are going push the cost of goods and services further.

To live in a decent studio apartment in parts of NY or NJ right now in a relatively safe neighborhood is 2000 USD/mth…and for all the people who are going to argue that at least you earn more..then the answer is no…this is for a student who will have no income…then add groceries and utility bills…then you will realize the grass is not always greener on the other side…it just depends on life style and where you will be comfortable living…I’m pretty sure this student could find a ragged basement apartment in a pop down neighborhood for less but that’s not our preference…you will get what you pay for anywhere in the world right now…you live on the North coast Deeza in a nice neighborhood, plus gas in St Ann (especially in the Ocho Rios area) is more expensive than Kingston and parts of St Catherine like Portmore..goods and services tend to be more expensive also…I know because I have lived in Portmore, Kingston, and have property on the North Coast….it all comes down the lifestyle…majority of Jamaicans don’t have AC for example….

Thanks for sharing Deezer. I'm in the UK at present getting ready to jump ship and move to Jamaica. £1,834.00 is normal monthly cost and I don't live a lavish life. I do like to eat quality food i.e. organic/gmo free whenever possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle for 2 of us. From my point of view, the whole planet is in crisis. It's all a part of a bigger plan to collapse the economy or as some call it, the great reset. Come winter in the UK, people will have to choose between eating and heating. Deezer has experienced the cold and will know heat is essential to manage the cold winter months. I know of people in the uk who are setting up communities in the country side to live off grid as they are aware of the coming organised famine apparently scheduled for 2023! People are being advised to start planting if they haven't already started doing so. At least in Jamaica, people won't freeze to death and shouldn't be starving as they can either plant food or it grows in the wild. Jamaica ticks all boxes for me inspite of the high cost of living.

Just subscribe to your channel, cost of living in Jamaica is sending me and any others here insane, supermarkets, clothes store, markets, bus fares weekly or daily, sending kids or kid to school, gasoline, cooking gas, and minimum wage are a mad house, like seriously in prices and cost of living its its ridiculously expensive. Rent is another scene of great madness in cost for living. Purchasing a house, buying lands to build, purchasing a car or any means of transportation is over the rooftops In Jamaica, bank fees and interest rates are insane, if you use your debit card its $500 fee to draw your own hard earn cash from the machine each withdrawals, school fees are a bit high with most of the high schools & prepatory schools, schools shoes, books, uniforms are a massive head aches and this doesn't apply for the rich, only for low income earners. Utilities Bill's is another massive destruction to our brains, trust me it's not a easy living lifestyle here in this country of Jamaica, tourist do complain a lot about the high cost and rates, and fees but I dont think government cares about us as citizens. Families in diaspora many refuse to send barrels bcz they say its cheaper to buy here in Jamaica all that they would be sending here. So thanks to those and you who do tries to send barrels back to families here in Jamaica, keep up the good job you are doing..
