I cosplay as Generation 6 Ash Ketchum (Pokémon: The Series XY and XYZ), starting at a Japanese cultural festival that takes place here in my home state of Arizona. One year, I dressed up as Ash for a convention (for context, I wear glasses due to astigmatism). A little girl standing behind me with a man whom I can only assume was her dad in the Hall Of Heroes, waiting to see Jason David Frank from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers pointed out my glasses and says "Ash doesn't wear those....", even after I told her that I need to wear them because I'll get a headache if I'm not wearing them for a prolonged period of time (true story). Even with this, I didn't let that ruin my experience. I got to meet Jason David Frank. He used my phone to take a picture, I gave him some fanart that I drew by hand and he signed my Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book for free.

The comment about when going to take a picture of a couple at a Con and the guy assumes you only want his girl's pic is very true, I've had that happen, when asking a couple to pose for a picture, the guy starts moving from his girl assuming that I only want to to take the picture of her, and I have to tell him, "dude, get back I want you in the pic too", and sometimes the guy looks surprised at this.

i have two stories from my own experiences: first one was when i cosplayed Shinobu from demon slayer, i was running around taking photos and i noticed a Chifuyu cosplayer, so of course i ran up to get a photo, but this cosplayer kept following me around hitting on me. thing is i had enough makeup that i looked about 5 years older than i was at the time, i looked like an adult when i was still a minor, and this cosplayer was like in his 20s. eventually my dad stood in and told the guy i was 13. the next one is from my last con, i was cosplaying a female version of Scaramouche from Genshin Impact, and i didn't have socks on due to the costume not having socks and only a type of stockings that covered the middle of my foot. and this random dude came up to me and asked me to step on him. i noped out asap

My time to shine finally arrived. I was at a ComicCon dressed as Undertaker from Black Butler with some friends. A guy with no friends that is well known for being annoying (small community) came to me and asked me if he can have a picture. After we did the picture, he started to tell me how he is well known for being the best Undertaker and I sat there and listened him for 10 minutes, before I invented an excuse and left. Another time, the same guy come to me again. I was again dressed as Undertaker. He followed me around the convention until he found me. We took a picture, then he started to ask me a lot of questions that made me uncomfortable. Luckily, he left after a girl come to me to ask for a picture. The girl told me after that she did it because she saw that I was uncomfortable and she wanted to get me out from that situation. I started to cosplay stands from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure after the pandemic. I met a lot of weird guys who kept making cringe references. I love a good Jojo reference or joke, but some people are just to involved. I'm actually a really shy person and I love to Jojo pose, but I won't make a "muda, muda" for you just because I'm dressed as Golden Experience. I'm a lucky cosplayer, because most of the people that I met at convensions are actually very cool and I have a lot of funny and wholesome stories with them. (Sorry if I made any mistakes, English is not my first language).

I went to an anime/comic convention with a friend of mine, dressed up as a daddy-bodied spider-man with my friend as MJ and her girlfriend in her Kill la Kill uniform Random guy in another spider-man costume comes buy and literally gropes MJ ass and literally pulling her against him. I was not stunned in surprise, neither was MJ's girlfriend, when she grabbed him by the neck, broke his grasp on her, pulled him in and slammed her knee to his face, shattering his nose and eyebrows. Yeah... never grope MJ. She can take care of herself just fine, Tiger.

Sad story from Supanova Convention in Australia. Back when Game Of Thrones was at the height of its popularity and there were many GOT cosplayers around, I saw a young fellow cosplaying the evil prince/king Joffrey. Honestly, the costume and makeup were so spot on, if he got a photo on the set with actor Jack Glesson in costume it would be hard to tell them apart. Anyway, I complimented him on his cosplay, praised him for how screen accurate his character was and got a few photos. Young guy was smiling and happy. But about an hour in, I spotted him hiding in a corner behind some big panels crying. I asked him if he was okay. He tearfully informed me that he had been ruthlessly "teased and tormented" for his cosplay choice. I felt so sad for him and livid that people could be so cruel at a convention. I ended up staying with him until his parents turned up to collect him.

Ok this is a video of people's most cringiest stories and it still makes cosplaying at a convention sound like a blast. I would love to go but I live in the middle of nowhere, can't drive (no public transit options either) and no one in my family or friend pool would have any interest of going. I doubt any of them would really even have an understanding of why anyone would want to do this.

When I was like 14 I went to an anime festival at a Japanese garden in Florida dressed as an eevee. I remember getting takoyaki from a booth and being completely zoned out while I ate: and then getting absolutely DONKED by someone throwing a pokeball at me. The dude picked up his ball, and as he skittered away he yelled "LOOK MOM I CAUGHT ONE!" His mom was unimpressed and a lot of people were upset on my behalf. No the pokeball didn't hurt (it was like a painted ping-pong ball or something, but thrown pretty hard), it just caught me very off guard because I was eating.

Oh ! This time I actually have stories to tell ! One happened to me. I was in an Akame Ga Kill group cosplay (I was Chelsea) and my group met a man with no shirt (I think he was cosplaying a One piece character) he asked us a photo (No problem here) , we agreed and we continued our lives. But we kept meeting the man again and again and each time he was looking at us with a creepy smile and laugh. The last time we saw him he started at us and muttered "eh...eh..Akame ga Kill~.." I have another story. He didn't happened to me but to a friend who was cosplaying Jynx. She sat to see a cosplay tournament and there was a guy next to her with an Akatsuki coat and long greasy hair. That guy kept touching her braid (wig) , was doing some "Ninjutsu" crap with his hand and was talking to her non stop , even when she was clearly not intereste. What a creep !

I was at a con, dressed as the Skylander Hex, (though to better fit her proportions, I had to wear a push up bra and my mask was up on top of my head so you could see my actual face during the experience) a random guy walked up to me and with a straight face said “Excuse me, sir” I was too dumbfounded to say anything back but I’ll be frank IF I was dressed as a male character I would have taken that as a complement however both Hex and I are very clearly FEMININE LEANING FEMALES and her (meaning Hex) floor length dress with a train, even though I was sitting at the time, are not something you’d see a guy wearing 🤦‍♀️ EDIT TO ADD : I was at the con to check out Skylanders Trap Team THE DAY BEFORE it was released…

I can remember me and a few friends went to a con and me and him went as call of duty characters while our female friend went as some anime character who I can't name. Well I had stepped away to get a drink from a nearby fountain and as I came back some dude was passing by and grabbed and squeezed her butt. So before he could get away I put him in a head lock and I let my buddy punch him in the stomach a few times before I yell at him to knock it off and go get security. They ended up putting him out on his ass.

This month i went to autumn geek fest as a 8-bit Purple guy and was constantly harassed by little girl, also trying to take off my mask. Earlier this year i went in vanny cosplay to watch the fnaf movie and again, a kid was "harassing" me. He was like 6-8 and was punching me, threatening "to beat my goofy buck teeth out", i saw nothing in vanny mask and was confused as hell, trying to get that kiddo away from me lmao

I've had a drunk dude try to pick me up over his shoulder and take me at a Renaissance fair. I was dressed as a goat demon in a suit wearing heels with a cane. The security didn't care but a couple of lesbians yanked me by my hips and waited for my parents to come back. I'm going as Castiel to my next convention so I hope people are more respectful of me when I'm masculine. (I was around 13 when that happened. I've always been lanky , tall and mature looking so guys are gross.). Entitled people are something else man. I don't do princesses anymore because people would literally grab me instead of asking to take a picture, leaving their snotty gross kids with me because they assumed since I was wearing a dress I was hired (I wasn't. I'm here for what you're here for you prick!), Or again, try to physically take me or touch me. I'm 5'10 259lbs so it's certainly a weird cross section of emotions and anger. Treat your cosplayers better. And if you want in depth pictures or a nice chat, be polite, and if you can, hand me some change or a dollar, it's my sense of humor but you can catch my drift. I've been cosplaying since I was a kid and as I'm growing in my craft and personhood, the incels don't get better. It's so annoying.

I actually have a story to tell here, not cringe at all Some time ago, me and some close friends had the silly idea to go to the mall in costumes, it wasn't Halloween or any kind of special occasion, we just felt like dressing up. I expected to feel uncomfortable or vulnerable half the time as my form-fitting, nearly skin tight costume's zipper was at the back and anyone could pull it down at any moment, but such a thing didn't happen, if anything I felt more confident and energetic than I ever have in normal clothes. I felt really good walking around the mall with my friends, and it was really fun hearing little kids get excited to see us. I guess it was that I was wearing something I genuinely liked, and for once felt good about my body. 10/10 experience would do it again

First time I went to a convention alone, I dressed up as Aqua from Kingdom Hearts. I was waiting in line for the bathroom with some other women I met who dressed up in Final Fantasy costumes. Then, I heard a male voice yell “Aqua! OMG!” followed by being picked up off the ground by my back in a bear-hug. I screamed, as I was being essentially held against my will, legs flailing until my heeled silver boots connected to the man’s stomach and groin. I didn’t mean to hit there, per se, but I panicked and flailed. I was terrified and was only let go when the other attendees waiting for the women’s room attacked him. I had to sit in a back area of the hotel and cry a little to compose myself. I had been assaulted by a tall, fat man who was kicked out of the event later. I haven’t attended another event alone. My husband has always been with me, and he’s a big, burly muscle man. I’ve seen that look in men’s eyes since-the “I really want to touch her” look. But his presence keeps people away.

There must be something about the character because I also had an 'experience' while wearing my Aqua cosplay. This being at a cosplay picnic event. I was sitting with my friend when a group of younger cosplayers (mid teens probably) joined the event late. One sees me, rushes over and hugs me so hard I could've heard my bones pop while shouting, and I quote: "I love Aqua! Fk you!" And running off. Also wanted to say I'm so sorry you had such a horrid experience. That sounds terrifying.

Had a moment at my first convention where I was upset because my friends essentially ditched me to go to the in-convention event that we all agreed to go together to without me, and turns out I was essentially followed by a fully grown guy the entire day just to tell me that he liked my cosplay. I was cosplaying a humanoid Fluttershy that day with a stupid crappy tail that fell off literally every 30 minutes which I had to CONSTANTLY go to lost and found for, I was in freshman year of high school, needless to say I was slightly perturbed by this adult seeing me in a short yellow Fluttershy dress, cutiemark stamped on the skirt, with a little bit too deep of a V cut for a just barely post pubescent female teenager, the dress was a costume made in kid size, for kids, awkward spirit Halloween quality pink wig and tail, and he decided that the best thing to do was follow me and when I was finally alone, decided that “hey! This is the PERFECT time to approach a crying young girl and tell her that I really like her cosplay!” Literally just paused for a fraction of a second before saying a quiet, timid, and an as polite as I could muster mid crying session thank you, which Ironically actually surprisingly quite fitted my character, and thankfully nothing else happened but I was still nervous about it because he essentially had just told me that he was pretty much following me around the entire day, not kidding, it’s literally what he said to me which is how I know, I now know as an adult that that was pretty strange and quite frankly could have been considered as creepy, but as a kid I didn’t exactly know any better than him just wanting to be nice, that and I was and still kinda am a doormat pushover who is unable to advocate for myself because of past trauma and what I was subsequently taught in school up until then and at home kind of reasons, that and I’m also diagnosed with ADHD and ASD, which subsequently dampened my ability to learn how to advocate for myself, still have trouble with that to the point where I’m literally unable to do so without sounding disrespectful or rude, never got any examples in any of the self advocacy classes either, so I literally have nothing to go off of, other than the borderline verbal and emotional and even sometimes physical abuse that I had to endure through my entire life living with a younger sister who took on all of the toxic verbal habits of my parents, a mother who just looked the other direction while I was getting physically and verbally punished for doing things that I had no control over, and a then functioning alcoholic with anger issues type of father. But yeah that’s essentially what I’ve been dealing with for my entire life, and now I have to deal with a mildly verbally abusive younger sister who doesn’t want to listen to my side of why I’m still talking about it, and essentially just chooses to be immature and say “I don’t want to hear it” and slams my door shut after I tried to defend myself from her literally asking if my friend is tired of me venting the same stuff constantly, to which I replied with “actually no” and my friend confirmed that she was happy to listen because she knew that I needed to talk about it, since my family just lives by the traditional rule that we shouldn’t talk about our family issues with anyone, including fellow family and dad even yells at me whenever I talk about it to my friend because he likely essentially believes that I’m bad mouthing them and that I shouldn’t ruin their reputation, my sister believes that I’m just trying to bully mom and dad, and my mom just either cries or says that “It’s all in the past, why are you even still upset about it?” And because of that rule I essentially have never told anyone other than my trusted friend and my therapists, and I even hid it away and bottled it up never telling even my boyfriend whom I’ve been with for 8+ years up until I finally mustered up the courage and told him about it a couple weeks ago, to which he was actually very supportive for me and said that he was surprised and disappointed that I didn’t tell him about it sooner, and that he will always be here for me, and honestly I feel bad about masking it so thoroughly and perfectly from everyone in our friend group to the point that no one ever had a clue that my mental state is deteriorating and my entire world is crumbling inside me all except for that one trusted friend who is not only aware of it, but also is willing to listen to me and my constant venting about the issue that I’m not even allowed to tell anyone who is close to me about, let alone have a single moment to express how much It’s still affecting me with not even my own family, and honestly I really just don’t want to bother or worry anyone whom I’m close with and cares about me, apologies for the random rant as this was just supposed to be a story about my cosplay experiences at conventions and such, but I just wanted to explain why I was and am still this much of a pushover, I am essentially unable to express when I need help with anything, and am afraid to ask questions that might be too stupid to ask, and that I tend to be way too complacent with everything, so I just end up suffering in silence, and only say “okay yeah, I’ll try my best” or “yeah, I think I can do that/give that a try” and then if something went wrong, I essentially just say that it was my fault or that “that’s on me” and at work my boss whenever I’d say that, she’d just agree and pin all of it on me, and when I had my meeting, she essentially just said that people can just take that (my attempts at self advocacy) as me being disrespectful and rude, and all I did was pause for a moment to process and essentially apologized and said that that was not my intention, so those meetings near the end of my temporary employment payed experience contract essentially felt like everything was just my fault because I failed to ask for clarification when I didn’t have any idea on what was being said in the first place and because I didn’t want to be rude or disrespectful, I loved that job but it just felt like everything I did was wrong, even though I wasn’t just my own fault that all the managers would just go MIA for long periods of time, apparently that was me not looking thoroughly enough, I didn’t even get an introduction to any of them other than my supervisor until one at a time in the later months when they would actually show up, and she wasn’t even there every day that I worked, so I literally had absolutely no one I could ask for help, had to figure it out all on my own, but at least everyone was pretty chill there, including the customers, although I did have a moment when I was chewed out on making the same mistake twice by my supervisor/manager, and I had literally no sleep for 2 days straight due to my severe medicine resistant insomnia and I calmly explained that to her and she just said I should still at least be able to function normally and get more work done, which any person should know that that is not how sleep deprivation works, but here we are. After 2 days straight of sleep deprivation you essentially start seeing hallucinations in the corner of your vision, get paranoia, and are not exactly completely coherent, and it takes quite a bit of willpower and effort to function properly, and the longer you stay awake, the harder it becomes to maintain your concentration and proper focus on “functioning normally” and in my case, I have something that I’ve been experiencing since childhood, even before I developed insomnia, of which my pediatrician said that it was completely normal, and that experience would be that I’d have moments (sitting or walking, or even just laying down) where I would have what I like to call “mini blackouts” essentially just as described, I literally would black out and lose vision for a fraction of a second at a time, but now paired with sleep deprivation, those single blackouts turn into cluster blackouts where the experience would happen much more often and even rapid fire, multiple mini blackouts in a row, and it’s gotten to a point where It actually is starting to get uncomfortable when it would happen like that, like the sensation of flipping a switch but it would stall brain activity and kinda have a sudden sensation of it lurching forward and I would have to stop whatever I’m doing whenever it happened and now with the cluster blackouts, it’s getting to become pretty tedious….. but yeah we are completely off topic at this point so I’ll just stop typing before I go off on another tangent on my problems and personal experiences 😅 sorry about the continuous wall of text, not too great at proper punctuation usage and formatting…. 🫠

Metal heads hate people that Wear metal band T-shirts and don't know any songs so it's normal to me to test if someone is poser or not, Idk in our community it's normal because when I found some cool looking dude with black metal shirt I asked him what he thinks about new song and he didn't know that he Wear a black metal t-shirt. Imagine situation when you are on a party and some person wear your favorite anime/game clothes and he don't even know what this thing representing imo it's ignorant and kinda awkward to you when you trying to start conversation about the thing that you like and person is looking on you confused. 2:50 -- Your line should have been, "Nice fez. Fezzes are cool." But you cosplayed the 11th Doctor and didn't sport a fez? Geez -- I hope you at least wore a bow tie.
