🏅CORTZILLA Jason's RB25-powered Ford Cortina Sports Sedan | HALTECH HEROES
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Don't let the blue oval on the front and the familiar body shape fool you, Jason Waye's Sports Sedan is far from an average Ford Cortina family car.
Sporting an RB25 and PPG sequential gearbox nested inside the cabin of a full tube racecar, this thing is built to turn laps.

If you were building this style of Sports Sedan, what engine would you use? An RB like Jason, or something else?

RB30 block with RB25 or RB26 head and a 3.2L stroker kit... and paddle shift for the sequential.

@@andersjjensen was just scanning the SA sports sedan technical regs... more than 2 valves per cylinder increases your minimum racing weight by 75kg, and with forced induction I'd be wondering if it was really worth it vs a properly-sorted RB30ET head on an RB26 block if that's possible. Forced induction multiplies your effective engine displacement by 1.7, so more than 2647cc bumps you up into the 4501-5100cc class. A 3.2L stroker would bump you up TWO classes, which brings +150kg minimum weight, and you'd be racing against probably mostly big angry V8s with probably much better throttle response. I discarded my "turbo camry V6" idea for the same reason. RB26/1JZ really does seem like a sweet spot

Definitely an LS engine. You can't beat an LS for value for money.

Ford SOHC 4L, 2 valve head, they make plenty of steam and are reliable 👍

That's a hard decision. if I wasn't keeping it the RB series, either back to Rotary 13 or 20B or even a NISSAN 370Z V6 big single turbo setup similar to this RB25... this Cortina is sick. Love it
Great video. I was the original builder of this car. Great to see it still running. Its a credit to Jason for how it has been restored.

You must have a sense of pride seeing it out on the track.
Quite a while ago I built one of those but with a 265 Hemi a Toyota 5 speed and a Fairlane LSD rear end. A weapon.
Good to see more Aussie builds.
Great build this is!! Very cool car.
What a cool ride!
Dit was darem 'n lekker motor in die tydvak!!!!!!!!!
Awesome build 🎉
Really cool build 👍
What a beast!
Beautiful and different. Very nice racecar
I’m not usually into resto mod’s especially the road car scene but this cortina looks proper . Even better that it’s a genuine historic brought back to life and nothing looks out of place styling wise . Kinda like the old MK2 escorts of the 80’s 90’s UK rally cross era . 👍😃🇬🇧
Back in the day my dad used to build cortinas. Most had cosworth engines well over 500 hp
Used to be a mk5 cortina in NZ that used to race.
Hopefully they get the great up and comer Curds as the co driver
AWD would be cool to setup in a car like this

Was thinking the same. full Nissan GTR running gear and subframes. But I saw the engine sitting back where the gearbox would normally sit

@@haltech it would be the only logical answer
It gets me why some sports sedans are sons of bricks, aero is irrelevant apparently.
Intech would be better.
✋ "Promosm"
To Be honest the combo seems "TACKY" AS fuck , Been a ford and what it is, .. WHY wouldn't you BIFF a turbo "FORD" Barra in to the chassis with the running gear , " if the balls can handle it " maybe be with a little less power , BUT more torque (for the circuit wort work ) , As it seems stupid from a car guys point of view " if they new there shit from 2005 till now" , ......... WHY the fuck would you NISSAN RB a ford Chassis ..............

For starters it’s not a ford chassis and secondly, you obviously have no idea about sports sedans 😂
