around the 6:30 mark, what’s interesting is that they actually DID factory lube the K100s stabs when it first came out. I’m not too sure why they took 5 steps back when it comes to the stabilizers.

Corsair has lost the plot with their pricing. 120 quid more than necessary, you can buy the same performance for 100 quid. Is that 120 extra worth it for a corsair badge? I don't think so and I have owned 2 corsair keyboards when their pricing was based within the range of Earth's atmosphere.

Corsair also has a problem of picking and choosing which products are offered in white.

Great review clearly presented and I love that you go into depth; reviews of bad products are just as important as reviews of good products. There's one question I don't recall you addressing: what is the target market for this keyboard? Who wants to do all the whizz-bang stuff you can do with it? Is it perhaps aimed at e-sports teams? Is it just there to make lower-priced products look better? I almost fell out of my chair when I read the price. After your review I don't think I'd pay £70 for it, let alone the £170 you suggest. Like you say, it's got to first work as a keyboard, and once you've nailed that then you can add the bells and whistles. And really, is it £200 better (or even £50 better) than a £20 keyboard? Thanks to your review, I think not. I do wish you'd raise the camera a bit.

Thanks Quentin. It's certainly an 'enthusiast' level product for sure. People who want the greatest level of customisation in competitive games should appreciate the switches and their adjustable actuation, so yes, e-sports teams could indeed be who Corsair are aiming this at. For old, past-it gamers with slow reaction speeds like me though, I could never use them to their potential, as would most regular consumers I'm guessing. I think considering the tech in the switches, the aluminium top case and the decent software to control it, it's worth a little more than £70 but I do see where you're coming from on the price. As for the camera angle - I'm really pushed for space in my little home studio. I've converted one end of my lounge to create my KitGuru content in (my misses loves that haha). Raising the camera would throw off the angles on the bookcases behind me and due to presenting at a fixed desk, I'd have to angle the camera down towards it. I've tried raising it up a bit more during previous recording sessions and based off of your feedback and I couldn't get it looking right. I do appreciate the feedback though and I've not been ignoring it in the past. Thanks again Mat :)

For me I just want to finally have keys that are pressure sensitive for all the games that support it, like lightly pressing to walk, jog, or all the way to sprint etc. or SPECIALLY for driving/flying on keyboard, driving is so awful on normal keys when it's full steer to lock left and right with no in between, now you can softly adjust with steering inputs, that's the real game changer for me (1000s of hours driving buggys and tanks in Planetside and Battlefield and I would have appreciated that feature all that time, I would have crashed a lot less too). And being able to see if I like a different actuation point than the one you're stuck with on a normal key (I LOVE my cherry silvers for gaming but hate them for typing, I've gotten used to it, but it'd be fantastic if I could swap over to a heavier press for typing). So yeah this boards features sound like they were made just for me lol Time will tell if I actually use all the features and care about it later we'll see

First of all thanks for sharing your opinions on the keyboard. I own the K70 max (upgraded from the K70 MK.2 Low profile), and to me it is the most premium keyboard i have used so far. As for the whole sound thing, im just happy that is not something i care about. I looked around for functionality and having the adjustable actuation points was a really nice feature. Im currently using 1mm actuation and so far i like that actuation point. Granted i have never even tried a high end custom keyboard so my comparison is based on other brand keyboards i have tried and this keyboard was imo amazing.

I have used 5 Corsair Keyboards, 4 normal and 1 Pro. It's my Stradivarius. of Keyboards. And I'm using the brown keys for all of them. I'm worried about using the MGX keys but I want to try it. I absolutely notice any little bit of pressure and debt because I've been using keyboards for 30 years. So I might want to give it a go.

@@FishFreddy Im lowing this keyboard so far, but i have switched out the keycaps on it. I bought a set of hyper-x pudding keycaps to enhance the RGB a bit. I prefer the feel of these hyper-x caps. They feel a bit more smooth (best way i could think to describe them). So it might be worth a consideration if you like that feel of keycaps.

You definitely needed to go further indepth into the advantages it has over a regular keyboard, adjsutable actuation points for gamers are huge and programmable keys depending on the travel distance is huge.

These features can be useful for gamers, I agree and did cover them in the video. I just feel that there are certain areas that could be better, that outweigh the benefits of having adjustable actuation.

I think we just have to appreciate Montech's efforts on creating the MKey at $80 sounded way better Corsair's $220 keyboard.

They have completely different switches - that's what you're paying for. These are those kind of switches that the Wooting uses where you can change the actuation parameters.

The loose USB is also an issue with the K70 TKL series. So bad it disconnected when I moved the keyboard on the desk. There's the key rattle too - I've got a lot of keyboards, but the Corsair have always been far more rattly sounding and loose than anything else. Less on gimmicks like 8000hz polling and variable actuation and more on quality please Corsair. You'd have to go a long way before I'd swap my Glorious and Akko boards for a similarly priced Corsair.

I’ll stay with my Wooting Two HE, which had the Rapid Trigger and multi actuation (DKS dynamic key stroke) since 2021. The only thing I would maybe buy are the keycaps if they would sell them separately xD

I think you nailed it mat - they seem to be overlooking some simple issues and fixes and focusing on headline features to get sales. quite disappointing - as it could have been a lot better with some planning and attention to lubing for instance.

Hang on, was that a typo £220 for that? with no lube, and so many issues? Its August, Not April 1st right?

£220 is a lot for a keyboard, i found it hard enough to part with near £140 i paid for mine

I've always been a fan of Corsair RAM but nothing else they make. They should look at the ASUS Scope II. It has a dampened "pre-modded" case with better sound than most custom keyboards. Its stabilizers are better than all custom keyboards (but it supports screw-in too if you wanna downgrade to custom-keyboard-style stabilizers). It has perfect wireless range and latency. 1500 hours battery life. And custom Kailh linear switches that ASUS designed which are super quiet and have a nice bounceback. Absolutely hit a home run. They take this seriously unlike Corsair.

was a decent board in its day, but the market has moved on so much in the last 2 years , seems Corsair need to go back to the drawing board.

Honestly i don't rate the Corsair keyboards anymore. I had a orignal K70 for 5+ yrs has my first mechcanical keyboard and i thought it was the bees knees. When i killed that by spilling liquid on it one day, i naturally moved to the new K70 RGB LUX, being happy with the orignal i thought it would be more of the same but with the option of RGB to play about with; I was disaspointed in it, it felt cheap while costing a arm and leg. Anway, I took a chance on a Keychron K8 Pro this year for my work laptop to replace the horrid keyboard i was using, and while alsmost same price that the K70 was, its a another level for what you get; i was so happy with the K8 i decided to swap my K70 out for a Keychron K10 Pro, and again i am blow away in how cheap it makes the corsair feel. £220 for that, sorry but hell no.

I find the choice for plastic next to a metal backplate always so cheap. Do the entire thing in metal or plastic and make it premium some other way, like lubing the switches, or provide better keycaps or include a more high end cable. HyperX can do an entire aluminium case for their Alloy Origin keyboards (which aren't even that expensive) so why can't others. I've had two keyboards from Corsair now that had this weird electrical beep coming from the RGB, so I gave up on the brand as far as keyboards go. Also, how long are they going to stretch this design?

Just chimming in, when you say beeping, you mean tinnitus like sound/coil whine? Returned 2 k70 due to it actually. A sound coming from the USB c housing area on a opx k70 even when LEDS off.

@@Djuntas Yes, exactly that. It were both K70's. One with just red switches, the other with the optical switches. Corsair told me with the first one that it was a faulty batch, and when I returned it, the store didn't have a different one in stock. Then, when the version with the optical switches came out, I bought and had this annoying problem again. Lost my interest in Corsair options and went for a SteelSeries keyboard.

It's funny you say that. My old ddr4 ram from corsair had a weird beep that seemed to sync with the rgb. It was really odd. My ddr5 kit doesn't do it though.

Really enjoy your reviews Mat. Really not a fan of full sized keyboards myself but even beyond that, something looks off with that keyboard. What's with those keycaps? The colour looks grey compared to the board. Not this time Corsair.

I think the k70 RGB pro at around £120 will do most people just ine, this is hardly worth the extra £100.

They even took away the usb pass-through that other k70s had and it's wired🤦

I have the K70 Pro TKL which i got brand new off Amazon for £70 on prime day, i'm failing to see what this offers beyond the adjustable switch travel (other than the numpad obviously but that's a size format thing not a quality thing), it's identical beyond the triangular pattern visually, has all the media controls, mine also doesn't sound as bad as this (but still quite clunky) using the OPX switches, £70 is as much i would have payed for my keyboard, so this price is astronomical in comparison.

It can make a massive difference to the sound profile and typing feel. The switches feel smoother and sound much nicer when they are lubed properly. The stabilisers also rattle a lot when they aren't lubed at all, as can be heard in the soundtest. Some lube on the stabs would have improved the sound drastically.

Actually, what price DO you expect? Magnetic switches are by itself more expensive becasuse of the permanent magnets in them and there are sensors for each key, which increases the price further. The Wooting keyboards are also expensive... About the sound...You can dampen the whole PCB with the switches on other keyboards, but the K70 has fixed switches because of how the switches are mounted to the top plate. So no matter what you do, you can't improve the sound of the keys with that design. The only upside...its easier to clean. :D As a disclaimer, I own 2x K70 Keyboards, one old full size and one. I replaced the fullsize with a Wooting HE60, but i miss the F-row and arrowkeys. I exchanged the bottomright keys for arrowkeys (sadly I can't get 1,25u arrowkeys) and capslock with function for easier reach with one hand for the numbers+FN=F-row. But because if the changed layout for the arrowkeys I misstype on the K70 sometimes. :D What I want to say is, I wish there were a WootingHE75 with (condensed) 75% layout.

Your desk needs a Matte finish.🤣 £220? Jaysus! My 1st edition K70 isn't broke after ten years. About the only actual improvement from my pov here is the wrist-rest. Very retrogade of Corsair; the base product's faults overwhelm all that you were giving a thumbs-up to. A shame, going off memory, I'd say they went from twiddling their thumbs to actually ruining the product four or five years ago.

Your keys sound VERY different to mine. Maybe you got sent a crap sample lol

It's a hall effect keyboard. You are missing the point. The only other one people are really buying is the wooting and that is $200 for a 60 percent. This is $20 more for a full sized keyboard that works with icue. Just lube the stabilizers...

That Corsair charge 300 dollars for a keyboard that needs user intervention to rectify ? I can’t see any other point you mean. I spent half this price on a keyboard which sounds a lot better out of the box.

No I get the point. The switches are useful, innovative and will be appreciated by some. I mentioned that at the end of the video. Buyers shouldn't have to lube anything after spending over £200 on an 'off the shelf' keyboard. For a custom board yes, I get that, people would want to lube stuff themselves, but not for a prebuilt board like this. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, that I'd guess that most people who buy this, won't even own any switch/stab lube

That functionality of those switches are what make the board so expensive though. It would be half the price without. It's litererally the whole point of the board. If this was a regular board, i would agree that it's crazy. It's not though. There aren't a half dozen boards being made that can do what that does, and I feel like that point was missed. Even the other guy that replied to my comment talked about not understanding why it was so expensive. Another guy compared it to a keychron. I don't know. We can agree to disagree.

Dude. You are soooooo right. For that price I would have expected that they put the "new" technology in a K100 case und not in an k70. For that price no aluminium? No extra wheel like in the k100? Not even a 0.1 activation like in the Wooting? Come on. This keyboard is an insult to the community. Although I really like corsair they seem to get a bid greedy.

Monsgeek offers the M1 as a Prebuild for 140$ and with HE Switches for 160$. It has a full aluminium case. Or the Blackdiamond 75 (a try to market custom keyboards to the gaming community) was 240$ for the base Version and that thing looks really crazy if you like the style. There ist no reason to buy this cheap looking plastic thing from Corsair for that price. Really good custom entrylevel boards have been so good lately, while the gamingbrands charge more and more money for cheap looking, bad feeling and bad sounding products.

Remember this is wooting alike keyboard hall effect magnetic switches not ordinary way method switches keyboard guys.

It sounds like it's kind of a lot of kinds of things.

had 2 corsair mice stop working in less than 2 weeks and had one of there keyboards that lasted 8 months I am done forever with corsair

the sound of the switches is terrible, my cheap logitech is nicer.

It's so frustrating how Corsair keeps asking insane prices for keyboards whilst doing nothing to actually make them good. No foam or silicon to prevent it from sounding like a cheap hollow plastic shell covering the shiny RGB top. My gf actually ordered their top of the line model and it sounded so cheap and rattled when moving around that we ended up sending it back. She has an old K70 at the moment and it legit sounds better than their newer keyboards. So to answer your question, yes others are noticing as well. It's going to cost them customers - guaranteed. £220 - and they can't be arsed to add lube to the stabs any kind of dampening or at least make the entire thing out of metal. You're paying for the brand and its fat margins (and decent software, but they could easily pay for that simply from being one of the biggest companies for this) PS: That montech for sound comparison could greatly benefit from some foam in the spacebar. It sounds pretty goods aside from the spacebar.

@@Djuntas Well that's at least 2 confirmed sales they missed out on then. My gf got the same keyboard and returned it for the same reason. So frustrating to know that in 8'ish years they went from decent standard keyboards for ~£120 to £250 keyboards that are objectionably worse. The RGB got better (or.. rather it's RGB now instead of a static red) but the price more than doubled and it sounds far worse. I'm actually in the process of designing/building my own keyboard and know for a fact it's not the optical rather than mechanical switches that make it that more expensive. The optical sensors are dirt cheap.

Problem is I like my old k70 from 2015, just want the same but new model...I also enjoy mine with o-rings on it.

@@fallenlegion1828 The top plate is metal yes, but the body isn't. They're asking high prices but it's cheap sheet metal on top of a plastic shell. Also where is foam mentioned? He mentions the wrist rest uses foam and that seems to be about it. I mean foam for dampening echos inside the main body - foam that would be on the inside of a keyboard. I've had my hands on the Corsair K100 RGB 'opto-mechnical' keyboard and that didn't definitely didn't sound like it had any foam in it, or anything at all really - and it rattles whilst moving it about. It sounded worse than the £30 no-name keyboard I use as a backup, A mechanical keyboard with foam/silicon dampening and lubed switches/stabilizers can be found on keyboards half the price. Corsair gives you none of that - at least until recently. The more recently released K70 Core (that's cheaper to boot) finally(!) has lubed switches.

I own an older version. It cost half the price. Its almost identical till this one in your review. The only major difference is the wrist rest. You could buy a decent one about £20.00 - £30.00. The wrist rest. It looks OK, but this is a tried and tested design by Corsair and to be honest, the older models seem similar for a lot less.

Corsair just feels out of touch with reality with their recent peripherals. Or they are just trying to dupe the normal buyer rather than make actual competitive stuff for pro level play.

£220? No chance mate.

Unlubed switches & stabs at that price - are Unforgivable, not to mention using CHEAP ones. UNFORGIVABLE. So is having no sound dampening. It sounds like a $20 amazon basics keyboard, AND you've got to use their Malware to get all the features to work... SMH.

Once i heard those keys they lost me - thats not acceptable for £100, never mind £220.

the keyboard have a very noticable loose keys especially on baskspace/enter and shift. The arrow keys are also easy to fall out. I cant believe this is a 85 dollars keyboard, corsair need to do better.

What's with the african in the bottom right of the thumb nail lol

Weirdos...as you call us...tend to care a lot about how well lubricated keyboard stabilisers are and the ping noise, might seem insignificant, but if you spend £220 on a keyboard, then I think that warrants giving it a mention.

I am pretty much stuck in Corsair ecosystem now and is willing to pay for some premium for it. But even so, this is way too much to swallow. Keychron is much more sensible Viewer's discretion: 220 quids have been mentioned 220 times in this video

Big, ugly keyboards with ugly typefaces, bad acoustics, scratchy switches, and cringey overall design really need to be retired. For that price, you can get an infinitely nicer Keychron or just build your own keyboard. People are only buying these because they've been normalized, like the G502. There are much better keyboards, this category is laughable. Corsair just bought Drop. They should be well aware of what makes a quality keyboard, and that none of those features are present here.

O dont quite understand how they went backwards in terms of build quality, first of all the wrist wrest is awful when compared to the previous ones, secondly why plastic body instead of aluminium? Where is a usb passthrough? Why does it cost more than my two previous k70s combined? I had k70 mk2 low profile that I bought for 130 and k70 opx for 120 euros...lmao. This is massive pass for me, just like the ridiculously overpriced k100 air.
