    Not sure if anybody will read this but the inner door in the back panel has 3 holes which correspond to 3 magnetic screws inside covered by a rubber cap. You can clearly see the holes on the door at @6:59 and you can see the 3 rubber capped screws @7:24. One is located on the top near the black cable, second is located near the left most SSD mount and the third one is located to the left of the lowest thick white cable at the bottom of the panel. If you are not able to follow that, then just go back to 6:59 and see where those holes are, come back and look at those same places. I am certain of this because I own a 7000X RGB in black. Once you have completed your wiring, you can remove these 3 screws, then close the inner door and re-insert these 3 screws through the 3 holes on the inner door. So you don't have to throw it out.

    The only criticism I would have of this entire review is you made a comment about how many people wont spend $1000 to do custom water cooling in this case. I would argue that when you are looking at cases of this price point I think there is pretty large consumer base that will be doing exactly that. Other than that I think you were spot on with your review. I still plan on building in this case but I am also planning on doing several mods to address some of the issues you brought up. This is the first video of yours Ive seen but ill definitely be watching more.

    Went with the 7000D running dual 420s in push/pull. First thing i did was ditch that internal rear door, but its been a pleasure to build in otherwise. Even with 50% fan speed, loop temp delta is 2-3C.

    I agree 100% being this case’s owner…in fact two of them. The weird fact they have two metal doors on the one side is bizarre. Also strange is the fact the metal outside door is EXTREMELY heavy. Why? If you’ve not installed hardware particularly things like your PSU inside the case to counter the weight of the metal door, DO NOT open the metal side door cuz the entire rig will flop over on it side - yes, it’s that heavy. Just some things leave you scratching your head especially coming from Corsair.

    Take out that vertical AIO cooler in the back as well and chuck it, it's removable and it frees up a lot of space for iCUE cables and to mount iCUE controller boxes. I bought the 5000D, upgraded it to the 5000X with a glass kit off ebay, loaded it up with Corsair RGB fans and nanoleaf triangles, and am reasonably happy with it... but in retrospect I regret not getting the 7000 instead, just for the extra clearance above and below the motherboard and around the PSU. It's a no-nonsense traditional case unlike something like the newer more popular cases. One thing to keep in mind, is the more glass, the heavier it gets... by a lot. And when in operation, you don't see (or you remove) the glass on the top and front. You really only need glass on the motherboard side so... the D or Airflow models are probably the most practical.

    Lovely review, and I would most likely be bothered by the same details as well. I felt the instinctive urge to grab the ol' Dremel and make a third hole above the motherboard, but cutting holes in a case this expensive just makes me think "Eeeh ... Why didn't you guys think of this?" And the useless door on the backside would drive me nuts.

    A thorough review. Jayztwocents commented the inner cable cover by side radiator mount is for directing airflow to the back of motherboard. What are your thoughts on that view? I like the case. Stuck between 7000d or 5000d vs Enthoo 719. Thing is Enthoo is more targeted at water cooling enthusiast. I just to fill my case with NDH15 chroma and Arctic PWM case fans. Dang it, hard choices for good cases

    I was considering this case for my build, which is using an h170i. Now I'm not certain. It's hard to find a good case that will fit a couple 3090's with good liquid cooling support. At least, for someone like me who's been out of the computer building scene for 5 years, it's difficult.

    I am building this right now. I don't use HDD 3.5" anymore so plenty of room to put the new commander down below. I have removed the spare circuit board header. I was surprised that the "fitted commander" is magnetic so it really didn't need to be glued in? I use sticky pads and cable ties to make sure all fan cables are hidden so as not to drop from the radiator. I needed ETX extenders for this case! I too hate my cpu header cable sitting over the heatsinks. I also have my rad the other way round as I hate the strain the cooling pipes placed on the RAM. btw you can stack the two HDD chassis on top of each other behind the 3 front fans! I wont block that grill above the fan. I prefer the airflow. I've been told you have to watch out for the glass getting chipped :( I think this is a fine case. Not perfect.. I really need to get myself a lazy Susan!! More grommets please Wallace! Looking for a solution to retro fit these many unusual apertures.

    I just heard that this cases side panel, despite being able to take upto a 480mm radiator like the front panel, only has holes for 120mm fans, which is surely just an oversight. If the side plate is the same size as the front plate, and the front plate can take 120 or 140mm fans and upto 480mm radiators as well (including a 420mm radiator), then surely it would be incredibly easy to modify the side plate to just make it the same as the one on the front so you also have the option of a 420mm radiator there as well? I (like many other potential customers) would want to mount three 420mm long 30mm thick radiators: 1 on the top, 1 on the side and 1 on the front all at the same time for incredible cooling, stability, longevity, power efficiency and appearance. Could you please feed this back to the manufacturer? Great video, and fingers crossed they listen to the feedback and make this small change - adding a few extra holes to the side panel surely wont cost them anything, and must surely be worth it for the extra sales profits for them? ;p

    I have the 5000d, I I belive the reason the inside cover for the lateral fans is so small is because it is the same panel on both the 5000d and the 7000d. It is one of the more characteristic parts of the case but it is also not that useful and a pain to remove because they put the screws in hard to reach locations giving priority to aesthetics.

  • @Accuracy158
    @Accuracy1582 жыл бұрын

    This is the first I looked at this case at all. It look's pretty decent I do wonder why there are no rubber grommets. I disagree that back panel needs to be glass but do agree that the internal door around the back is a waste of money. It doesn't look like I would be going for this over a Dynamic XL unless I was just totally burnt out on seeing so many O11s. That being said a case can still be good without beating the current king. I'm a little confused as to how any side mounted radiators work? What size is there space for? That white panel always blocks the side radiator mount and can't be removed? Any side rad with fans would interfere with the hard drive mounts? How thick of a rad can you put in the front while leaving the hard drives there?

  • @Accuracy158

    @Accuracy158

    @Azazel I was referring to the the o11 generically, but specifically the o11 XL as the newer more expensive variant. It has kind of become a meme that the o11 series has over saturated the market and it's all you see anymore in fancy PCs. Some people are picking other things just because they don't want "what everyone has".

    A correction on putting Commanders on the SSD slot. While I agree the newer Commander Core XT that comes with the case should have a socket for the AIO because 1. (as you pointed out), it's the only Corsair case where H170i fits in to begin with and 2. because Commander Core XT is supposed to be an upgrade to the Commander >Pro

    the 7000D seems like a lazy attempt to get to the full tower case crowd who find the 5000D a little too small. In the 5000D that cover that sits in front of the mainboard covers the full height. and it looks like they have used the same cover, with a poor excuse of an extension to fit the larger case. There's 3 cut outs over the top of the mainboard in the 5000D, and it's really strange they didn't have the middle one on this one. The inner door on the 5000D has a magnetic latch, and it does a pretty good job at keeping it closed... GPU temps being a little on the warm side might be fixed by adding the fans on the mainboard side and removing that cover, and allowing that extra airflow to circulate over the GPU, I will be trying that out my self in the next week.

  • @Sams911
    @Sams91111 ай бұрын

    I disagree, I like the inner door for additional electrical and EMF shielding for the cables .. this prevents EMF interference with appliances and items outside the PC case. Also, the plastic faring that replaces the part on the PSU Shroud should be installed IF you are not using a front or side mounted radiator ... in your case, you should remove the ugly one, and replace it with the plastic one that looks much nicer and cleaner, plus allows for the installation of not just 3, but 4 120mm fans into the side and front.

    I didn't see the reviews before buying this case and I'm glad I didn't. They throw it under a bridge more than it actually deserves, it's a good case, I know you gotta be picky for the price but its actually great , the only two things I do actually complain about are the lack of more rubber grommets and the absolute insanity of the inside door, but it's not a deal breaker, it's still massive, fairly capable in the cooling department while maintaining astonishing looks, it's s niche product that's for sure, but i think the audience it targets appreciates the existence of this product

  • @CalaisRider

    Hey Tom you and me definitely disagree on the forward section behind the front radiator and fans. To me this case gives a lot of options and a clean look with the optional cover to the power supply. In fact I don't use any hard disk storage, hence the Drive Trays would "all" be removed for more productive space in many places. A simple drill hole here or a hole somewhere else (with a grommet) is pretty much the norm for custom build - its just a tad time consuming as I don't feel that case manufactures can meet your exact likes and loves, nor that of the millions on millions of people and consumers idiosyncrasies and wants and needs of a base computer case. I do believe this is a top end framework for any high end build and one I would consider.

    I got myself the 5000X & then ordered through Scan the airflow front panel. That case (the 5000 series) is already plenty big enough IMO with plenty of watercooling options. I really think Corsair missed the opportunity to make the 7000 stand out & justify its asking price, they should’ve given it a dual system option. Also, why doesn’t the Commander Pro XT that comes with the case have the special socket that’s needed for the AIO? I agree with all, of your other niggles Tom, especially the missing grommets. It bugs me too that Corsair supplied everything for the vertical mount but didn’t supply a riser cable, especially at the price the case is at. Anyways, I truly think Corsair should’ve made the case a dual system case. Did you happen to notice that Corsair only give you two front fans in the airflow & D versions, surely they could’ve put three in the front at the price?

    Can you not mount those commander units to the inside of the inner door? I know it may not close but it does not need to. If you take those 3 SSD mounts out, it will create a bit more room. You can mount the SSDs in either the HDD caddies or on the power supply housing. Me, I don't bother with RGB fans, I took out the HDD caddies, mainly for more cable stash space, put the lower profile cover in front of the power supply housing and added an extra 140mm fan to the front of the case. I use a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax black, and the case is a 7000D black. It's badass and I love it. Think Tarantula Hawk. Ain't no bright colours needed.👍👍GPU is Zotac Holoblack RTX3080. Storage is handled with a 2tb NVME drive as my boot drive plus a second 1tb NVME and a 1tb SSD mounted on the power supply housing. I also have PC networked to a Synology 6tb RAID1 NAS. You know, for M' content! What a time to be alive! Good review, I like your critical approach. Subbed.

    Does the iCue software run on Windows 7? I really would not want to control the lighting in software only, but be able to do it manually with buttons. The second inside door is there for case modders with a dremel that do want to add a glass/plexiglass window to the outer door. I have a CDrom Tower from the 1990's that is not as deep yet holds 15 5.25 drives in the front. Fifteen 52.25's. Not six 3.5's. So this case as large as it is, is kind of weak when it comes to harddrive space. To be honest, instead of all that Commander Core rat's nest, I'd rather have one single Alexa controlled Phillips Hue LED light bulb or light strip "Alexa, computer light purple."

But realistically anyone buying a FULL tower case, heavily geared towards a CUSTOM water loop, perhaps even multiple loops, should be be able to tinker with the case and get amazing results with ease. Stick one Commander Core on top of the other. That's what I did. Like a double decker bus... double stacked. It's not like they generate any heat. Run your PWM fans not into the Commander Core's / Pros, but into 1to3 PWM cable splitters off the motherboard PWM headers, so your BIOS is controlling the fan speed, not iCUE in Windows. The UEFI fan curve section is actually very robus and good (at least on my AORUS x670 AX mobo) That way your fans will run properly in LInux, or when you're not in Windows. I couldn't get that included PWM hub to work any better than the Commander COres regarding fan speed, which if they are not getting any sinal over their USB connection because no iCUE software is running, they will default to run at full speed which is annoying. NOt only did I throw that internal door back in the box, but also that side mounted radiator cutout... which is also removable via 6 screws and would serve no purpose but get in the way for me as I'll never run GPU water cooling. That way I could store my extra PSU cables not in the basement, but zip tied/ up that vertical space there. In installed my fans on the inside of the case pushing air from the inside upward through the RAD and that hides those holes. It's a learning curve the first ime you bild in these cases... some stuff easy and intuitive, some stuff painful. I couldn't use the manual at all because i"m blind, so that was useless. Instead I consulted the motherboard PDF on another ocmptuer which showed the motherboard pin header location and labels. That was essental to have open and go back and forth to.

    I just watched Jayz two cents using the 7000D version of this case and that oddly placed panel can be removed! Not sure if there's a difference between the build of the 2 cases other than the "X" version has glass where the "D" version has mesh for airflow but I thought I'd let you know! I also agree that the lack of rubber grommets on the cable pass throughs looks untidy, seems like a big oversight on Corsair's part. Oh, also on the "D" version, that extra door on the back was actually magnetic so there is either a difference or you were sent an unfinished unit!!!

    I never understood the point of these huge full towers. Literally half of the case is empty all the time. The 5000X which is a big mid tower is fully capable of housing even a completely watercooled system with a big reservoir and multiple radiators.

  • @Garrett1974

    @Garrett1974

    2 жыл бұрын

    No! I've been wanting to do that myself, even if you add a 420 radiator on the TOP, you won't be able to place a 480 in the front or side... the top rad would hang too far down for a 480 in the front. But 3x420 isn't gonna happen, you could do 2 (top and front) but not 3! (Even though 3x420 is what I'd prefer) If you put a 420 in the front, it's gonna be too wide to use the side as a radiator mount (simply not enough room then)

    The obvious shortfalls of the case that make you smack your forward, makes me think this case was designed by engineers working from home that couldn't sit around a table and brainstorm designs and point out flaws. Or...they had someone design a case that has never designed one before because the last guy quit

    All Im going to say you havent a clue what people are looking at this case for. its big so they want to put stuff in it or they would have gone for a 5000D or 4000D. myself is looking at this case to have a water cooled CPU , GPU , and possible motherboard ( Asus ) even if its just the VRM cooled ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 FORMULA eg. and may as well have the M.2 water cooled to . now I was looking at Corsair Hydro X Series XD7 RGB Pump/Reservoir Combo - White in the side panel a 420 rad in the top pipe from the Res to the Board and bits to the CPU back to res and from the res to the GPU back to res then res to rad back to pump or even have another Rad on the front . So I will like the Option to have that lower plastic removable. thanks Corsair
