Corona Razor Tooth Saw 10”, Cuts, Steels, Strikes, Scrapes

Let's test my new Corona Razor Tooth Saw. It's the folding 10" and was only $22 from Home Depot. I had it shipped right to my house.
See how it cut right through a very hard 6" piece of White Oak, a smaller piece of Pine, and then some 2 x 4". Next, I used the saw's spine to scrape up a pile of fatwood and to also scrape the ferro rod to get the ignition. Lastly, I show what a great steel this saw makes for the flint and steel technique. Observe in slo-mo the big shower of sparks that exploded off the spine and into my char cloth making an easy one strike ignition.

I think you can relate to this then... I like how when you're in amongst a tangle of branches from a fallen tree or in a thickly brushed area, you can hook limbs that are out of reach and pull them close, to grab with your free hand while cutting with the other hand.

best little folding saw ( aside from the Silky saws ) that I've found in the big box stores. I am a natural fork slingshot builder and keep two of these in my truck at all times, as somebody is always cutting / pruning trees, and you never know when the perfect Y shaped fork is going to present itself.

I have had one of those for near two decades and used it around the lawn and on trails for clearing smaller downed trees. I also have a Silky that I only use when out hiking or camping. Both are great saws, the Silky is built heavier and with a thicker blade. Both are quality, I doubt I’ll ever wear out either one.

Thanks for the info on the saw, I have seen these at Tractor Supply and was thinking about getting a couple. I lost most of my gear in a house fire couple years ago and have been trying to replace everything since, both my Bahco's we're completely destroyed in the blaze. Since money is tight this looks like a great alternative. Thanks for the video and keep them coming.

I'll shove it into a sock and then into my 'possibles' bag. For now it's my go to hand pruner. It should stay sharp long enough to get every penny out of the cost.

Whats nice about that saw is the tooth size are right in between silky medium and extra large teeth, its also very durable and cuts pretty well as good as a silky. Its not easy to snap the blade on that saw like a silky sometimes can, however in the closed position it leaves teeth exposed which will bite you if your not careful. Definitely a great saw for the money in my opinion 👌 great video as always 👍

Mr. West as a long time subscriber of your channel, I must finally speak up. You CONTINUALLY perform many bushcraft and fire making techniques with knives that anyone can purchase at the big box stores. Now you are using a saw that can be purchased at a big box store! You will never get an channel sponsorships from the high end knife, saw and ax manufacturers, if you keep this up. 😉 WELL DONE AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE. 👍🏻

Yeah, I've had one of those saws for 4-5 years and use it for spring and summer trail maintenance. Lots of crews use Silky saw, but they pay a bunch more and are not happy loaning them out, losing them while crossing a stream, or breaking the blade because it's a bit brittle. My saw may only cut one direction and isn't as fast, but it also doesn't pain need as much when bad things happen to it.

@@DavidWestBgood2ppl Very nice saws. You should do a comparison of the saws. I enjoy using the large Silky Katanaboy saws, much easier, more maneuverable, and lighter weight than carrying a 4-6 foot crosscut saw into the wilderness areas, but they have a limit on the size log they can handle.

I picked up a Corona recently, which is a good ferro striker but I’m having no success with flint and steel. My model looks different than this, with it’s teeth fully covered by the handle when closed. I guess I have a newer model, so does it have different steel making it less capable for flint and steel?
