Cornhole is an outdoor game where the object is to throw a bean bag into a hole. The quantity of fun is directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed. That said, kids enjoy it too and that's why my wife asked me to build a set of cornhole boards for an upcoming school event.

A video about an outdoor game, released right before Winter. Our crack team nails the production schedule once again!
@dgoddard

It's Missouri, winter doesn't usually begin until around 5pm. Plenty of time for the school kids to get in a couple of games.

You can play Cornhole indoors. WI indoor leagues go from October to April.
There's something about seeing Marc use 2x4s and the edges not matching up perfectly that makes me feel better about all my 2x4 projects I've done with the same thing :D
@woodwhisperer Please please please keep including the outtakes. Your sense of humor has always been one of the most enjoyable aspects of your channel, second only to the AMAZING content and teaching. But seeing the frustrations with car noise, misspoken lines, dropping your router, etc....pure entertainment! Also shows a level of relatability we dont always get to see. Great job!!!
Marc, This video really spoke to me. I have been woodworking for 40 years and was asked to make cornhole boards for my 6 year old grandson's school. I couldn't help myself and was compelled to edge band the plywood, make a template for routing the holes, fill in every flaw, build a "bag" storage compartment into the frame, make matching handles, apply a flawless sprayed finish with graphics, etc., etc. When I delivered them to the school, other makers had also made cornhole boards. The kids didn't care one tiny bit about the differences between my boards and the rougher nailed together, brush painted boards. Haha. Thanks for a fun video.

I’ve made quite a few sets over the years, but the last set (2 sets) I made for son’s outdoor wedding. I put everything you mentioned, and more, into these boards, even making sure they met ACA standards. NO ONE noticed or cared. Not even me.😂
Finally something you make that I can make too!!
Clicked on Wood Whisperer and got Weekend Woodworking for Mere Mortals! J/K fan of both shows. Fun to see you doing a basic project. Always fun to see the talent and take on any project. Plus I liked the quick Sewing Whisperer staring Nicole!
LOVING these MacGyver style "work-with-what-you-have" videos. Nothing like scavaging around to make things useful...it's like playing FallOut.
I'm impressed that you're still kicking out content even with all you've got going on renovating the firehouse.
Can't wait for the updated end-grain cornhole board once all the tools are in the shop.
Great video but, you don’t realize how seriously corn hole players take this game (I’m not one of them). It’s a real sport! There are regulation measurements for the boards. You did a great job, as always. Thank you again!
Best video I’ve seen about these boards,Thank you
I could make those too if I had a straight edge and a circular saw....oh wait, I do have those.
The taping and painting corollary to ‘Measure twice cut once’ might be to paint the base (grey) color then tape/mask once and paint the second color.
Haha. I made two sets of these for family and the next thing you know, I am the Cornhole Master. I had to make six more sets for their friends and friends of friends before I said, "Please, no more". For a newbie to woodworking like me, they were the perfect project. I actually broke even. Fun factoid: Originally the bags were filled with actual dry feed corn, thus the name. They now produce a plastic substitute shaped and weighted like an kernel of corn to deter rodents from devouring them in the off season.
Old school TWW. I love it
"Why am I spooky?" lol
You owe us, Marc. I watched the whole thing. 😉
To the spray booth! ……goes outside 😂
A trick I used to make the legs the right length. Install the legs long and let one leg go off the side of your workbench, then prop up the board to the correct height. Then trace the top of your workbench on the leg. I do this for each leg individually and just cut it at the bandsaw. Also, just use an eighth of an inch spacer to lift the leg up and push it away from the back board. That way you get a little angle on the support.
I have to admit Infind this funny and ironic at the same Time. 😂😂
Apparently, you uttered the words "faith in epoxy" and I was summoned here.
This desperately needs to be a guild project. I’d love to learn how you so skillfully get a brother-in-law to work so productively. I have never had such success. 😂😂😂
I love the Spags sense of humour 😊
Man tell you what I have watched half of the 1000 videos on making cornhole boards and yours is literally one of the best down and dirty lets get this done so we can play tomorrow videos there is. I think one of the biggest issues with a lot of the videos on cornhole boards is people try to over think them or try to show they have style. it's literally an outdoor game that in a year will be left outside for the whole summer. Great video as always

Wrong. Where it’s played depends where you live. In the Midwest indoor leagues and garages exist for cornhole.
I am Cornholio!
That was the most Bobby-C looking project I’ve ever seen Marc do! Very relatable. When you got out the epoxy, I was thinking you could make a river table corn hole board. With .22 shells and dead critters in it.

@@xof-woodworkinghobbyist kind of. Yeah. I don’t watch as many of his videos.
You need to build her a good sewing table for that lovely sewing machine.
Just commenting to help your algorithm. 😂 Looks good!
Just in time for winter!!!
😉 Marc doing his best Frank Howarth radial arm saw impression with the dull Kapex 👏
Back to basics! Love it!
Thanks! I'm going to Lowes this afternoon to get materials to make a set for a church event!
I enjoyed making the sand bags for the cornhole board! Who wants to use corn anyway, silly.
Well, wouldn't say you killed the build, but it was certainly a family woodworking project, and now you can get back to work.
Great Wilson impression
Fantastic work, Marc! They turned out great! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I have made several sets of these using oil base paint to finish as it holds up well … your boards look good 🇺🇸👊🏼🔨🪚👊🏼🇺🇸✌🏼
Lol I can't be the only one getting South Park shop class flashbacks from the start of this video.
Hola! 🖐I love, love, love these "easy/simple" build videos as your work on building out your shop!👏👏 Maybe that could be a series you produce; it would be like "Chopped", you get a basket of materials (and you don't know what's in there until you open it) then you have to build something with the limited tools and limited shop situation. Just a thought but I would DEFINATELY watch that! Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
I was going to make the regulation bean bag joke, but ya beat me to it. Remember folks, corn hole is serious business.
I'd love to see you revisit this after you get setup. Then you could "fine woodworking" Cornhole boards.
A very entertaining video. I was smiling at the jokes! 😃
Those boards are gifts. The 6inch hole saw is pricey if you only make one set. Thanks for sharing.
Now I know what a cornhole board is (we don't generally have them in the UK).
Great job
Love this
Wow Marc. You were a hot glue gun away from having something that could be eligible for 5 Minute Crafts. 😊 Now let’s see version 2. Inlays, treated edges, and of course domino joinery.
Tbh the 6in hole saw bit is well worth the $16 you can get it for on Amazon even for just 1 or 2 sets imo.
Marc without large power tools? Great video!
Good job friend
This may be out of line but. Iam the great cornholio I need tp for my bung hole. Great job great content. I’m glad the move is going well for u and ur family.
There may be 1001 videos, but I have NEVER heard of a cornhole board.... this should be educational..
This is great! Also, have you ever used Durham's Water Putty? That stuff rocks for both filling in those knot holes and skim coating.
Okay, love that you're looking for things to build. Couple ideas/suggestions (btw: coming from a fan. Love your vids...keep 'em coming). 1. You could use bondo to fill the knots and the tear out. It's super easy to apply, easy/cheap to find and sands like a dream if you're painting. I've used it a ton on trim work, as it's "shapeable" and sands down easily. Also, if you're looking for a fun project w/ low tools needed, you could do a Camp Kitchen. They'll a bit tricky to plan, and get it looking/working well. There is some videos out there, but not a lot of good ones and you could definitely take it to "the next level" if you wanted to add features. Just a couple thoughts. keep the great ideas coming.
For some reason I always thought the term "cornhole" came from Beavis & Butthead. Apparently not...
You should do some 3D printed projects for the shop. I'm sure Nichole would let you borrow them:)
Hmm you actually used 2x4 and bad plywood :) I was waiting for cedar with walnut accents from your scrap pile :)
AWESOME I was looking to build one too!
Hey Marcus, nice boards. Just a future FYI if you have to make more than one set. Rigid makes a 6 inch hole saw. Keep up the great work bro.
My go-to for filling voids in plywood is Durham's Water Putty. Cheap and easy to use.
Now I know what a cornhole board is and what it's used for.
Those saw clamps must be what they mean by measure twice, cut once.
good job
I could make those too if I had those tools...Marc's so faaaancy. I mean what was that? A circular saw?
Cool beans. You do realize how many Festool rules you violated, during this filming? Especially the "Thou Shalt Not Use Festool Tools to make common build items". LOL. Looks great.
Came here for the cornholes, stayed for the special effects.
I like to use wing nuts on the inside of the legs, so you can really tighten them down when extended.
I can't believe he went cheap. 😂
Love the spray booth- looks very similar to your old booth :)

I also liked the rustic spray booth in the woods.
Handy pro tip.... Once you get that distance use a sharpie and mark that bad boy on the shoe of the saw. That way when you mark you line you can make off set marks for your straight edge. Saves you have to remember wrong or measure it every time.
I actually make my Cornhole boards barely hang over and run a flush trim bit around it to line it all up.
"I probably should have [not worn my jacket in the shop] if I didn't want to get my jacket dirty" I think that's what you meant to say haha
Love your epoxy river corn hole boards. Or is that next week, did I let the cat out of the bag?
Welcome to MO ! You need some lawn widgets like a guy sawing! You could get elected to the state house! Can’t tell you how many CH boards I have made over the yeas!
Personally I prefer using 3/4" plywood on my tops. It prevents alot of bouncing when playing.
When you taped off for the grey, I would have left the white stripe dividing the colors. Thought that would look pretty interesting.
Is this going to be a Guild project? 😂
Heavy is better for corn hole boards anyway. It can be more of a pain to hall them around, but they don't bounce as much, which makes for better play
@woodworksbygrampies1284

...plus it'll keep them from "walking away" 😉
❤️
When taping a line, be sure you're pulling the _center_ of each end and you'll get a lot less bending. In fact, you'll then get _no_ bending, so long as you're applying to a horizontal surface or vertically to a vertical surface. If you're applying laterally to a vertical surface, then you'll just have to have a guide line to follow, applying in very short steps.
Sure.... there are others but they aren't you. Did I mention your awesome?? Thank you for the video!!!
About two decades ago, I built my wife a beautiful sofa table, it was gorgeous. A couple years later we were moving and she accidentally destroyed the table and tried to hide ite from me which, lasted about two days. She was devastated but, I still get free cake!!!
and of course the peanut gallery but you could have made them in the greene and greene style with walnut and cherry :P joking. I was entertained by the nicole segments lol.
No worries. I just learned how to play corn hole and I’ve lived in Ohio for nearly 15 years . My wife grew up here and she never learned. Funny though we met in Colorado and lived there for nearly 15 years. It’s a Midwest thing. Don’t remember it growing up in New England.

Out here in So Cal and you see them a bit out here, including tailgate parties! Our family gatherings ALWAYS includes a set. It's a blast! Have a good one Steve 👍
I've made a couple of router templates using my 3D printer. My solution for the hole would have been to print a template with a 152mm hole.
Next up, ladder ball!
It’s like the generic sci-fi episode where the protagonist is stranded from civilization and has to scavenge and improvise a solution.
"How high"?😂
That Make It So poster is awesome ... where does that come from!? I so want to carve that on my CNC.
She says, “JUMP”, you ask how high on the way up!
@00:35 hey you maintain your bearing! With the grain you goon now drop and start pushin
For the same cross measurement you can just put both long boards on the same side and then reference off the plywood ||_ vs |_|.
Very nice boards. Did you get the dimensions off the internet. I enjoy your videos, it’s nice that you add humor.
Nice. Question, what's that compass that you used? I couldn't find it on your amazon list. Thanks.
I feel let down Marc. My daughter asked for a set with the stipulation that I use good wood and make it nice. So I made it out of 3/4"maple and dovetailed the corners. Top was a glued up panel and attached like you would attach a coffee table top. Legs were attached with pinned oak dowel rod. Whole thing was stained and coated with poly. Boy was it heavy but it looked nice.
Cornhole board seems to have been done by everyone this year. Totally don't get why, rectangular board with a hole in it.

Any ideas on a tail vise. I’m designing my tabletop CNC bench and want to use them in conjunction with a bench dog system. I want to design the bench around the clamping system.
