Heard this song on Radio 6's jukebox a few weeks ago, was immediately hooked, bit of research, ordered the album, love it to bits, full of awesome tunes. Must now dive into what I believe is your ample back catalogue. So weird, all these years after loving Asha! Thanks for the music. PS Get yourself some solid gold for real, you'll be glad you did.

Never thought of it like that, but hey as Lou Reed has done very poor material for decades, that is a lovely thought which has put a smile on our face.

@cornershop: there would be no Cornershop in its present state without Lou Reed. How does that quote go, from the documentary The History of Rock and Roll go? Something like, "The first thing everyone did the first time they heard The Velvet Underground was run out and start their own band." I'm still incredulous at the way some Brits still try to steal the origin of Punk away from the Ramones.

Based on the comments below this could be a take off of Reed's "Vicious", "Sweet Jane", or "Wild Thing". That could indicate that Reed was repetitive. I prefer that he had a style that was reflected in those three songs and that this song is in the same style. All four are great.

It's cool that they remade Brimful of Asha to do this song. Really impressive that they sampled their own track. 100% amazing musical talent.

It's not about the composition being original, it's about the text and the melody (the bass line in this song), making an original composition for a song is nearly impossible these days. Thousands of songs are just the same chords as this, "Wild Thing", or "Sweet Jane".

I assume, that "simple" would be a lot better expression for Lou Reed's meterial, than "poor"..

  • @CornershopHQ

Well that may be so for yourself, but we will go with "poor," and we think Lou is most full of crap as an individual too.

@Cornershop: see the clip entitled, "Are you happy being a schmuck?" It's highly unlikely he would have cared. 40+ albums in a multitude of genres. Not bad for a guy who couldn't sing.👳‍♂️
