In this jazz guitar lesson I'll teach you how to play Corocovado on guitar. This famous Bossa Nova standard is one of Jobim greatest hits.
The goal of my tutorial was to make a beginner friendly chord melody arrangement of Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars, which is this song's english name.
I'll teach you the Corcovado guitar chords easy and slowly. I'll show you how to weave the melody in between the jazz guitar chords. This technique is called chord melody style or Corcovado instrumental guitar.
I'll teach you note for note and will also explain some of the theory, whenever I think there's valuable information, that is helpful. As a guitar teacher I don't want you to just learn the song by heart, not knowing what you do. My goal is, that you can do a chord melody arrangement yourself!
I've also made the Corcovado backing track, so you can start practicing right away and play along.
Corcovado was written by A.C. Jobim and was sung by Astrud Gilberto and Joao Gilberto.
Of course I'm also providing you with the Corcovado guitar tab (including musical notation), that you can purchase from one of the links up in this description box.
I'll show you all the Corcovado chords guitar in an easy way and it will be easy for you to follow along. Best practice is to have the guitar tab in front of you.
If you're a beginner to intermediate, who knows a few of those great jazz guitar chords, you'll like my Corcovado guitar lesson.
I structured the Corcovado guitar tutorial into several chapters and there are direct links, down below in the comment section (pinned) that directly take you to the section you want to watch.
Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars is a jazz standard, played at every session and definitly a must know amongst jazz guitarists. It has a mellow sound, a smooth melody and a distinct chord progression.
If you like my Corcovado guitar lesson, the tab and the backing track, please give this tutorial a thumbs up and don't forget to share the love and the knowledge.
Please subscribe to my channel and you will get to see all my other chord melody jazz guitar tutorials (over 100 in the meantime).

But the chords are tabbed! I don't have extra chords, just the tabs with all the chords tabbed. Do you know how to read tabs? It's super easy. The lowest horizontal line is the low E string, the highest line is the high e string. The numbers indicate the frets. If numbers are stacked vertically its a chord.

Make your first chord D9 next chord G13b9.

That's basically the same chords that I used in my arrangement, just with a different root. Not a great idea to mansplain a university professor for jazz guitar 😊.

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I don't want to appear to forward, but...any chance you might consider Bundling your backing tracks, as you did for your tabs months ago. It could be a quarentined special ( for a limited time offer)? I'd love to have them all in one download . If that is not in your interest, I totally understand. Just thought I'd mention it. I don't mean to be so self serving.

@@abejacgot Not sure about that. I haven't seen too much interest. Also that would be a large zip file. Since people never read the download instructions, I would have to send them, which is not possible with large file sizes as email attachments. But I'll think about it.

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I totally understand .As a large file, it may not be worth the trouble. I can just order as I go, that's fine. However, I have another thought. I've seen where one can post on KZread and give unlimited access to those posts at your discretion; to your contributors or patrons. No downloads needed. Might be worth looking into....?

Being new to Bossa and Jazz it is dawning on me that these tunes are nearly all fairly short. If you are singing these you need a chord melody interlude so you can sing the A or B again.

Thank you, Eric! No, the guitar is still in the luthier's workshop (a pickup didn't work and he had to rewound it). But since we have a curfew (2 weeks now), I can't pick it up. It's finished and I can't have it 😭. But hey, there are our impirtabt things. We're healthy! Stay safe, my friend ❤️

I know, I know :-) I mean "easy" for jazzers, hehe. Please check out my chord tutorials, if you have problems with the jazz chords. Once you knwo them, chord melody will be alot easier. Chord melody should only be tried, when you have a fundamental knowledge of jazz chords. It's the "supreme discipline" of jazz for a reason. Type "Jazz 7th chords Guitarversum" and "Tension Chords Guitarversum" into the KZread search box to find the said videos.
