My great grandfather joined the Confederate Cavalry because his older brother warned him against foiling the infantry.

Other countries: you can’t use cavalry units anymore they’re outdated and unfit for a modern battlefield! USA with the 1st Cavalry Division:

Some great paintings to accompany this song. But sadly in all the Calvary battles over the centuries hundreds of thousand men and their steads were killed. After WW1 that was the end of the calvary due to the advanced weapons systems. Our Calvary soldiers now charge in on helicopters.

Much prefer this to the original video. Couldn’t help but notice the artillerist colors worn in the one pic by what’s supposed to be a cav guy tho. Bad on the artist

That’s Don Troani’s “8th Texas” painting. It’s well researched. The branch colors weren’t universally followed
