    As I’m watching this I sold a listing that has been on Etsy for 3 years! A vintage item. It was up for renewal a couple a days ago, and as I went through the expired listings I seriously considered donating this item as I was so tired of it. And … sold! It happens again and again with some of those old listings. It was just waiting for this one customer in the whole world just looking for that specific thing. 🤷‍♀️

    Thank you for the video! Just what I needed!! And you doing in action was really helpful. QUESTION…. If I have a listing with one or a couple of sales in the first 4 months, you’d renew or copy and make a new listing? Also for key words, you did ‘decorating’ and ‘decorations’ but do you think singular and plural also make difference like ‘mug’ vs ‘mugs’??

    For most keywords Etsy ignores the purals, but if it makes a spelling difference I'd put both in. If a listing had a few sales recently I would probably just renew it and not worry about it too much. It's when they're expiring with no activity, like the ones that got very few views in the video, that you'd copy and repost as a new listing.

    Thanks, Kara. This was great information for me. I have lots of listings that I renew with little or no views/ sales. Now I know what to do and think about especially making a copy. Would Etsy flag my shop if I did too many at once? xo

    Thanks! I am just coming around my first round of expiration so I assume that from what you said most of the ones if they had any sale or favorites, I should see for another 4 months. (Because compared with experienced sellers like you, any sales for me probably is still considered recent 😊)

    If something sold then the renewal date resets to four months from when it was relisted (if you have more than one in inventory.) You won't see them all come up for renewal at the same time.

    @@KaraBuntinTutorials yes I was replying to your previous reply but I guess it created a new comment so sorry for the confusion! I think I’ll look at the numbers and see what’s better for each and maybe it’ll be some testing to try different strategies for some as my store is new. Thank you always for your reply!!

    Great stuff as always Kara! Ok I have a question that no one has been able to answer (Etsy Chat person had no clue either) Kara help! I paint oil on canvas originals and I make canvas art from the originals through a POD company of my art. Here's the question; it's not "handmade" but it is a physical product I'm honest, so I say on Etsy it's with a production partner and ships from Colorado. I live in Calif so when asking Etsy community everyone said it seems suspicious. How else is a seller suppose to use the area that says where is it made?

  • @KaraBuntinTutorials

    @KaraBuntinTutorials

    6 күн бұрын

    Well, if it's a production partner and you have the location in the section where you have to say where they're located, I don't know that you need to do anything else. I don't know that it's suspicious at all, otherwise everyone who uses a POD company would be suspicious. I wouldn't worry abotu the opinion of random strangers in Etsy groups, that doesn't make sense why it would be a problem.

    Could you do something about vintage? I know Circus Pig is being neglected at the moment but what would you do if something had not sold after a few renewals? I can do the math based on selling price/cost but should we copy and delete?

  • @KaraBuntinTutorials

    @KaraBuntinTutorials

    Circus Pig is closed, I'm divesting things this year! For vintage I used to renew the listing and then put it on a 10% discount so that Etsy would send a message to people who had favorited it. If it didn't sell at that point, I might drop the price more and put it on sale at a larger discount. Or I would just leave it at the regular price and do the same thing a few more times before dropping the price. Sometimes it takes a while for vintage to sell just because you have to wait for the right person to find it, so I wouldn't delete listings at all in that shop.

    I added a totally new listing recently but started by copying a similar listing to speed up my listing but removed old photos and gave it a new title. Until the New Listing format started, that listing would come up as a new listing. This time it showed up far down in my Dog Print section as if it was an old listing. I’m hoping they’ve corrected this because I find it so helpful to not start completely from scratch every time I list something which has similar features.

    You might have just edited the old one instead of copying it, because that's what happens when I do that (by accident.)

    I don’t think that I hit edit the first time but made a new listing, but I went back and made sure I made a copy of that “new” listing and changed a few words and tags and then relisted. This time it came up as a new listing and was on my home page at the top. Will be very careful with my next new listing and see if it acknowledges that it is new when I first make a copy.

    Thanks for this, Kara. I've been doing the copy thing on my best sellers when I add a new listing of the same sort, then add the new images and video. I change the title with as little as possible and maybe one or two tag words and the description. I saw you just did a copy and publish? Doesn't Etsy "penalize" you for it? Also, you mentioned Etsy doesn't look at the description much. Can I keep similar listings' description the same then? Thanks so much!

  • @KaraBuntinTutorials

    @KaraBuntinTutorials

    5 күн бұрын

    You can do it the way you’re doing it but it counts as a new listing, so it doesn’t keep the stats from the best seller. Copy and publishing with no changes also counts as a new listing and Etsy doesn’t penalize you for doing it with no changes. Etsy looks at the first 150 characters of the description but they’ve said they use that for categorizing the listing more than anything, so i don’t even know what they mean by that. It’s not much as far as text goes, so I don’t worry about it too much.
