In all honesty, this is how the Cops should act in this situation. The suspect was actually cooperative and not violent. Therefore, the Cop had no reason to go harder on the suspect... It should be like that with EVERYONE.. thats my point.

A lawless cop with a drinking problem and a loaded gun is evidently not a concern to the police. Go figure.

So a armed drunk cop can threaten to kill someone and doesn't get arrested on the spot?? Good to know! Pathetic!

@@farexponent9173 When you are in high stress situations, it is common to crack jokes to be a valve to release some stress, and those jokes can sound horrible to someone else who is not dealing with the situation. Also, he was technicially accurate and was speaking about how that city pays out, concerning victims like that.

Remember that time a citizen pointed a gun at a cop, threaten to kill them, and was found to be in possession of a dozen open containers of alcohol...and was not ONLY allowed to leave the scene, but got a RIDE HOME? Yeah, me neither...

Any normal person would be in handcuffs and jailed. 100% of the time.

i love how cordial they were with him despite him threatening someone with a firearm, lying about having a gun, and being intoxicated. But I just watched a video of a mechanic being falsely arrested for "obstruction" and the officer told the man being arrested to shut up and gave him nothing but an attitude.

I don’t blanket the whole profession or the entirety of most professions with the “everyone is the same” paintbrush. I want policing reform, not policing abolition.

@@DJknows A cop who ignores the transgressions of a bad cop is a bad cop, of course. I am very realistic about the current state of policing in the USA and I’m horrified by what is going on. I think this has been an endemic problem forever, And the increasing militarization of the police in the past 25 years has exacerbated the abuse. Now the light is being shined into that darkness more because of body cams and social media, so those of us who have had minimal interaction with the cops and legal system are getting educated on the reality. And it is clear that there are a small number of truly ethical cops and they are the ones who often leave the force because the systemic pressures within the force to sell out their ethics is so strong that it often becomes impossible to keep working and stay ethical. But there are still some in some healthier departments and I believe those are the ones we need to tap into as we try to figure out how to approach reform. Wiping out the force entirely at this point is not, in my opinion, is not the answer.

He should be in jail ! The New Mexico police should be in jail for covering up the fact he was drunk and had multiple empty bottles of vodka in his department issued vehicle and a hand gun that was positively identified as the weapon he pointed at the patrons. This is corruption at its best. If that was a regular citizen they would have been thrown on the ground beat up and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Nobody is above the law that includes police officers and judges.

Anyone else notice the initial cop only told one officer the guy lied about having a firearm. Had some regular guy did that he would have been immediately arrested. This is corruption.

I live in Albuquerque, and the APD is one of the most corrupt departments in the WORLD. It’s full of a bunch of former high school jocks/bullies who peaked at 18 years old. Pathetic

You forgot to mention that the cop walked up to the truck with blacked out windows after getting a call that a gun had been pointed at people from that truck and the cop didn't have his gun out.

Yeah this surprised me as well. Typically whenever police suspect you of having a firearm they don’t take ANY chances. Almost like they knew he was an undercover or something.

This is completely bullshit! I was charged with the same thing, Agg. Assault (deadly weapon) x 3, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and a few others. And I didn't point the gun at anyone, I just had it out. But I was defending my home, as someone had pulled into my driveway and refused to leave. So, I got my gun and they left. Next thing I know twenty something cops were at my house. I was arrested on the spot, no questions asked. And slammed me AFTER I was handcuffed, giving me a black eye. I had had a couple of drinks in my own home on a peaceful evening and wasn't expecting to have to defend our home. I sat in jail with no bail for three weeks. Eventually, I got a private lawyer and he jot me a $20,000 bond, which I paid. I had to take a plea to get the felonies dropped, as they so skillfully force you into. Got three years probation plus a lot more. Just for defending my home! This is complete BULLSHIT!!!

Why does he get to keep his hands in his pockets? Nobody else does.😮

It's crazy. Was watching another video where a cop was speeding while drunk and the other police arresting him were telling him constantly to stop talking because it could be used against him. They don't do that for us, just once while reading our rights. And then they pry and pull at you all day long. This guy kept being reminded CONSTANTLY because he was drunk and would forget and start rambling... The bias they have for their own is insane.

They needed a search warrant to conduct a search which they did obtained. It would’ve been illegal to search it on the spot. It was all explained around the 14:40 mark. That’s why he was transported instead of leaving with his truck. They took his truck in for evidentiary purpose.

These cops did exactly what I expected them to do .... nothing. When it comes right down to it, they will always cover for each other. If I or any other "ordinary" citizen had done what this deputy did, we would have been arrested and sent to prison. This guy called out to two innocent citizens who were minding their own business and when they came toward his vehicle to ask him what he wanted, he points his gun at them and threatens them. He did this while drinking from a vodka bottle, after lying to the cop about having a weapon, yet the local dopes let him go home. Now he's getting paid to sit around his house until he goes to trial. The justice system in America is broken.

Just pathetic. Why would they give him a ride home if he wasn't intoxicated?

I wish these cops would give citizens the same respect, grace, and patience they just showed their buddy.

If I were walking out of a store and a cop flashes his emergency lights(or a random person using their hazards/high beams) suddenly with no one else around, I think i would instinctively approach the car to see what was wanted (as it seems one of the two guys coming out did and the other stopped). I think most would reasonably take it as a request for interaction absent anything else going on. Which makes zero sense with his follow up actions and makes me think you are likely spot on.

That’s besides the likelihood of the allegations that he pointed his gun at two innocent citizens and threatened their lives. There is no way he deserves a second chance

Jesus fucking Christ. Intoxicated driver, threatens to kill people, points a gun at them, lies to police... and they apologize to him and give him a ride home. Gee, I wonder what would happen if a regular citizen had done the same thing.

How many people noticed that the cops didn't flip out, tackle, taze, or shoot the off duty officer that stood there for several minutes with his hands in his pockets??? Especially on a call where brandishing a gun is involved... You would think that he would know better since he is a cop... More proof that it isn't about "officer safety", it is only about control over another person, so as to provoke a response in order to get an arrest.

(Casual walks out gas station with your friend) (Cop randomly aims his loaded weapon at them for no reason) Department: “this is totally fine”. And now he’s on a paid vacation from it. Ridiculous

The fact that are everyday police are now fetishizing the art of lying and deception is not surprising and goes to explain a lot of what we see in modern policing. Not only are police not punished for lying, it has become their modus operandi and their culture and ideology.

Right? I mean they take money from lawyers to not show up for DUI arrests. How many have been fired for that new case? Oh, yea, wait... they WE ABLE TO RESIGN.... 🤬 They have time to beat our disabled citizens who was just taking a little too long yo pay for his items at Target, but let one of them not only point a fire arm at patrons at a convenient store, threaten to "take their souls," drive drunk, and keep his hands in his pockets the entire time the police are making contact, but also lies about having a weapon in his possession WHILE INTOXICATED which is illegal. I have a cc and I don't even carry inside stores that sell/serve alcohol...because it's illegal. Welcome to NM policing where they serve and protect each other.

​@@erinbell7224I live in Albuquerque and what they are dating is true. It's horribly corrupt. APD is under investigation currently for officers taking bribes from a lawyer to not show up to court for DUI cases. Several have resigned over it.

@erinbell7224 I don't. I just see them in the news all the time. They have a reputation for killing people and god awful police conduct. They're one of those cities where the police are more of a gang than protectors. They've had the feds and DOJ on their case multiple times. Just a year ago their swat flash banged a house going after a robbery suspect and set the house on fire. An innocent 14 year old boy was burned alive. Stay away from that city.

All charges will be dropped. The 2nd victim won't show up for court, and the DUI charge is impossible to prove solely based on empty bottles.

The cops tried to intimidate the victims into dropping it by making them do a field-identification instead of having them do it behind a two-way mirror at the station. That way, the garbage cop could look them in the eye and glower at them to scare them after what he JUST did, and also smile and wink at the other cops to make it clear they're in cahoots and the victims are screwed. 😠

​@AuditTheAudit u should b a lawyer. I really learned a lot from your channel. I got pulled over on my pedal bike by 3 cops. I got a ticket for texting while driving. A pedal bike. Unfortunately I did not get it on video. But overall. We talked a bit. And I payed the fine. And nothing happened since. But here is the strange part I never saw any cops sit in that place ever again. So. What is that about. And I had a similar experience when I had a moped. Cop said I ran a stop sign.. k. Odd. I got off my moped because I was having trouble with it. He pulled on me wen the bike was off. He told me that I ran a stop sign. The one I was currently at. I asked him if he's stupid. I told him. A running stop sign. Needs legs to run. 100 dollar ticket. Never saw a cop there since.u should do a episode on stuff like the 2 examples I told u. Let me no what u think.

Paid administrative leave??? Police departments in this country are an absolute joke.

If anybody outside of law enforcement is caught doing this, straight to jail.

He's not being arrested tonight. Cleary intoxicated. threatened strangers with a presumably loaded firearm. Lied about the presence of firearms in his vehicle. Got to love the loyal blue fraternity of cops. Everyone tries to say that cops aren't bad, that there's only a few bad apples. But if you don't hold your fellow cops accountable, you're just as much a bad apple as they are.

For a call for threatening with a gun, they sure didn't mind him having his hands in his pockets

If it were a public citizen that had done this, especially while smelling of alcohol, any of us would have been arrested and locked up while they did their investigation and throughout the legal process. Absolutely disgusting.

The favoritism is what drives me mad in these videos. Pointing a weapon at people while being intoxicated and not being booked immediately but gets chauffeured home. Insane.

The investigating officers also failed to notice his story change from "I just got here" to "I was watching videos and was just about to leave."... Why do they so often fail to treat other officers the way they treat us?? So often they claim to smell something they don't to subvert our 4th amendment rights, but can't even ask a fellow officer why he smells like booze while being accused of brandishing and intimidation??? What a joke police make themselves...

Unfortunately it was the victim that didn't attend court that's why the chargers were dropped. But had the victim been there I still wouldn't have excepted the court to do much to the cop anyway.

Actually, happens all the time. Especially with traffic tickets, if you take it to court and the PO doesn't show it usually gets dropped. Just shows how much of a cash grab most tickets are; they just want you to pay it and not fight it.

This is very common, especially in Canada. If the victim suddenly does not go to court, the courts do not believe it is in the interest of the public to continue. In big and serious file, sometimes judges will issue a contempt of court warrant to force the victim to testify, but at that point most uncooperative victims just hide until the courts lose patience and cancel the trial.

That's not corruption. If the alleged victim fails to appear, it's quite common to dismiss a charge. It happens in assault cases all the time.

Even if he wasn't driving while operating the vehicle, the fact remains that he was under the influence while in full control. He was in the driver's seat, he smelled of alcohol, and there was empty vodka bottles within plain view, there is more than enough reasonable suspicion and probable cause to investigate a potential OWI. This was 100% a failure of the PD and every officer who failed to report the smell of alcohol should be let go for the blatant failure to do their jobs and protect the rights of citizens.

Paid leave? Yet again? I'm so sick of this bs!

Surprise, surprise, cops treating a cop as a member of the gang.
