Cooperative Care Training: An Update On Laser Therapy Training

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Check out this video:
(Cooperative Care Training: How to desensitize your cat to new weird things! | BilliSpeaks
• Cooperative Care Train... ) for background on the clinical trial and how I helped Billi to comfortably accept this weird light thing!
She consistently asks for her laser, I don’t know if it feels good or if she just thinks it’s the easiest way she’s ever gotten so many treats 😹 either way I’m happy!

Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 15 years old, her favorite word is mad.

I can also attest to that. Been doing the desensitisation training and this morning my cat was willing to calmly accept getting her heart worm treatment on her neck, whereas she used to run away because she’d smell it (awful smell!) and she detested the whole experience. And we ended with a tube of (the Australian version of) churu.

Fun thing is cat can't really see red. Red dot is bright dot for them. They lack the receptors for red, as far as I know. We needed that to see when fruit is "ripe". Mouses are always ripe for cats ;-)

What do we think are the chances that Billy had no problem with the laser device, but was in fact several steps ahead: "If I pretend I don't like it, mom will distract me with treats while I 'get used to it', and then praise me for being so good at dealing with it!" Lucky that Billi's ambitions seem to only extend to food and catnip, otherwise we'd all be praising our new feline overlord!

I think she has begun to realize that she has maybe triple the benefits for this. Treats, cuddles and just maybe she is feeling better from the treatments. Hence the requests. I doubt (and this is my uneducated opinion) that she would request the treatment simply for the treats as she gets those in a variety of ways during the day (I assume).

Does that ultraviolet light therapy work very quickly? What are you treating with it. She's so smart. She seems SO much happier since she got treatment for her tummy. It makes me smile. I'm so happy for her and you all. What a blessing.

It's called photobiomodulation. It is red light therapy to help with her kidneys. Billi is part of a clinical trial. Hope that helps. I know not everyone can watch or gets notified of every video. I sure as heck didn't see it. BTW it was more than ten videos back.

Obviously it’s not the same thing but I use light treatment for anti aging and I have noticed an improvement in my skin. It took 6 weeks or so for notable improvement but it’s continued improving. Hopefully Billi’s treatment works as well for her.

The primordial pouch is the name for that flap of skin underneath their belly. It aids in their ability to stretch and leap.
