MCBehemoth I think a WPM of 82 is just fine. I mean, I don't know anyone else who can do even 1/3rd of that in real life. For someone who basically learned to type by loading cassettes in a CPC464 and navigating around their storage under DOS 6.2 it's pretty fast. I have never worked in an office. What little typing I have done was a long time ago for college or University papers. I get by ... at least with 82WPM I'm basically writing at a reading speed level and can hold a text conversation in a chat room without any pauses. I suppose you can do 120WPM and that makes you a better person, yes? And sure, I was raping people with 1k+ hours on my first try online in UT2k4. Do I hate the game? Hell no. But it's not a great game, and the skillcap is far lower than many other games. It's more accessible because of this, and was infinitely more popular online because of this, and at the LAN parties I went to in the early/mid 2000's. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I was brought up on a diet of Quake under wireplay and the Jolt 1v1 league, followed by division 1 Jolt Q3 OSP. Of course UT is going to be easy. I'm looking forward to UT4. It looks amazingly pure and the gameplay videos / duels I have seen so far are impressive.

TheVanillatech No it's not, I've seen ten year olds pull off better speeds. As someone who has gamed competitively for several years, if not a decade AT Quake - your standards should be exceedingly higher. I can type slightly fast, but not at an exceptional level. Just 110+, although it's with a shitty laptop keyboard while lying on a bed. I miss my desktop and all. The average reading speed for fluent speakers of English lies in the range of 250-300+ WPM. I don't type much, but I think my fluency with the language coupled with years of gaming accelerated my potentialities for typing; not limited to that of course. Maybey. Doesn't sound too convincing, but it's not UT99 anyways. Amicably, 2004 was quite the disappointment, but your claims regarding skillcaps lack substantial reasoning. Maybe you meant that community's skill level in general, but even CoD potentially has an infinitely high skill ceiling. Some milestones haven't been reached yet - are you gonna even bother arguing with me about this? You might mean "skill-intensive", which Quake is undoubtedly moreso compared to the likes of generic shooters. At varying degrees, Quake definitely requires a lot more skill than other shooters - but you should stop implying that any single individual has managed to "cap" a skill ceiling. Absurd claims come with even more absurd complications. Define "skillcap" before you continue with bullshit. The only games I can think of that have achievable skillcaps are MOBA's, because of bullshit like items and builds and all. The individual doesn't really have to do that much. Yup, the newest UT has the most potential out of all arena-shooters I've seen to become really good - hopefully this will flourish further, and pave for the next competitive title in tournaments. Of course it is in relation to the average players skill. What else would you be talking about? The top 0.1% that dominate the other 99.9%? Get real. And sure, you have amazing fluency and mastery of your native language. Well done you! Only I placed first (absolute top) of my year in English Lit and Lang, at a school which came top of the country in the national exam league tables that particular year. So I guess your argument there has no credibility either, right? Bankers who retired at 27, Doctors, Laywers... all in my class that year. I whooped them ALL. 96 and 94% respectively. Sorry. And sure I could go faster if I gave a fuck. Obviously I don't. But I can build a house. Repair a 250 year old stone feature from a Church barret by hand using dry cast gear. I sell my illustrations for £250 a piece, portraits for £150 and I teach kids how to draw. Between these things and bringing up my two children, I don't really see the need to push myself beyond what is a perfectly functional speed of using a keyboard. Congratulations on your 110 though. Your mother will be proud. As will all of those 10 year olds you seem to enjoy competing with.

I remember playing the online beta demo and getting absolutely hooked. A 56k hardware modem on a clean phone line was all I needed in those days. Inviting friends over for all-nighter lan parties and loading up with energy drinks - PURE BLISS!!

@@goprodog4304 Cs is a camper game, no movement? Just shows your incompetence. There is so much that goes into professional csgo. But i wouldn't imagine someone who considers Quake 3 the best esports game. Csgo's movement can feel more restricted. But it requires alot more precission. And now there is also other factors like teamplay, utility, timing, gamesense and reading. Most of what we saw in this quake 3 match would come in an average tf2 1v1 aswell. WoW is more exciting? How is WoW an exciting game. It's encaptivating but not exciting. UT was revolutionary and there is a reason its considered better by most.

Quake 3 is still running believe it or not, Put in the old CD and it's updating Maps, New Maps on 2 Servers, I'm playing only one other player, CHECK IT OUT Quakers, Frag Ya Later!!!

I remember back then whenever I go to a PC cafe, everyone's playing Counter Strike and I'm one the only one enjoying Q3. The fast paced non stop action was my thing.

When games became sports, here it is! Awesome!

I wish arcade / scifi shooters would come back. All we have is CoD, CS and Clones of them. Much more interesting maps/weapons.

@@trevnev2780 It's good actually just has a small player base , all we have left is CSGO Quake live and Quake champions , live needs more players it's actually really good but it suffers from imbalanced mm because most of the people left are really good at it and when new people join they get insta recked and they quit the game fast

metallitech Possibly. Urban Terror was legendary XD I played it for a few solid months back in the day, but lost interest and returned to OSP Q3. I did find out later that the community of Urban Terror continued to grow with more maps and guns and gameplay modes added for a long time after I left. Made me kinda regret leaving it. Thanks for reminding me about it! XD

@@SmotritelS and vice versa. UT had inferior movement to me. Sluggish and inconsistent. Preferred some of the gunplay but at the same time the big 3 from Q3 make for a better demonstration of individual mechanics.

Right there with you man :) It hit me hard when i realized that Q3 has already 21 years and will be 22 in dec. I still boot it up from time to time on the pro version with my lifelong friend and 1v1 on instagib with rails. Our skill decayed horribly from the glory days and we have only fraction of if but we still have a blast. We played around 60 hrs worth of 1v1's on quake champions but its just not it. Long Live Quake 3! Btw my first real multiplayer game that wasn't just a couch playing session on a console with 2 pads was Quake 2, i'll never forget it

@@Examus93Yeah Quake Champions was a big old mess. The netcode was so f'ing bad... whereas I played Quake 3 with 200-400 ping sometimes back when internet got throttled during the day. Wasn't pretty, but it was way more reliable than Quake Champions with 50ms ping.

Lightnd Are you a moron? DEPENDS HOW FAST YOU PLAY IT! The simulated "speeds" at which you can "Ski" or whatever the fuck you do in Tribes has to be measured by the fact your opponent is probably 2.6 miles away from you most of the time, because it was huge outdoor maps with very little going on. Quake 3 on the other hand is like fighting a badger in a barrel. Not only that, but please never compare Quake 3 to UT. Finally, like I said, it DEPENDS on how FAST you PLAY the game, in other words how much skill you have. Why not take a look at the movie CYPHER CYPHER CYPHER here on youtube and tell me how slow Quake 3 is compared to Tribes ;)

They have no idea of the superhuman manifestations that transcend our conciousness when we tear it up in ZTN at 3am in the morning sweating our tits off as we get spawn raped to fuck trying to get back into the game. I once took a 3 month break from QIII and one night I tried a little UT2004. Never played that game before ( I played UT2003 at LANS for a few weeks back in the day ) and I fucking RAPED everyone. Some guys were clanned up with thousands of hours clocked up on the game. Quake is for the best. The soldiers. The gods. When we move to other games, it's like Satan has thrown Hellfire on their servers, and the players tremble in the presence of our glory of the Quake Massive. -Quake III Master Race

God I miss this game! Played all my college years, wasn't good enough for duels, but our TDM was pretty solid :-) Will always be the best FPS game for me, unless some magical Quake 5 will be up to scratch :)

After watching this, I'm questioning why isn't there an HD remake of Quake, like from the ground up? Does it cost too much or are people just lazy because this looks like a badass game.
