    1337 subs. L33T! try pouring the coolant sideways. it will come out much easier and not glug at all. 👍 a sticky thermostat is a pretty common cause of overheating. it never hurts to flush any cooling system... they are often neglected. nice job. i like that you show what socket/extension combo that you use to reach certain bolts. i think that will come in very handy for people that come to KZread to learn how to change the thermostat in their truck. what did you have to do to the rear bumper to get it back on after the new hitch? the Durango looks great and is ready for many, many more miles.

    Haha!! Thanks dude!! I'll remember to pour it out sideways next time lol! That's right, it never hurts to flush out the system. And a new thermostat even for a truck like this is only $20... so why not? I have been trying to get into the habit of showing the extension and exact wrench I use to remove bolts, especially in hard to reach places. One of those things I wish people would do more often, it would come in handy sometimes to see. Shoot, I should have talked about the bumper in this video while I had the chance!! Thinking about doing another "afternoon in the life" sometime soon here, maybe I'll show it then. We have it on there "temporarily" with nothing other than good old zip ties haha!! We have been trying to figure out how to weld some strips on to the back to bold up the cover like it was originally though. This spring the old rango will hopefully be getting a lot of good tlc. Even tho it looks pretty clean for what it is, it still has its fair share of rust from that nasty road salt. Hopefully some body work videos will come once the weather warms up!!

    Real life video! I had a good time watching you. I have 2006 Durango, same color blue and I love it but, now I found antifreeze in the oil (chocolate mud) I'll flush cooling system and figure out what to do with head gasket. Keep an eye on coolant level because on mine, it started losing coolant and I couldn't find where it was going... now I know... Take care!

    I like the look of the first generation but my second generation is twice the truck the first one was. And I'm a big fan of the 4.7 liter compared to the 5 7 Hemi. Yes I'm not as powerful but I am far more reliable.

    I was looking for a video regarding my Chrysler Aspen. However they are hard to find. I know that the Durango is basically the same thing under Dodge. My Aspen is doing the same. The level fluxes and after about 10 minutes of being on. I might have to get the thermostat replaced. What antifreeze did you use? I was buying the Mopar from the dealership but it's $30 which I think is a bit ridiculous. TFS

  • @JimmyCruiser_CGE

    @JimmyCruiser_CGE

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yep, they are really the same car, the Aspen is just a classier trim version lol.. I always liked them. Tbh I always use green universal coolant in everything now after a flush, from what I’ve heard all these “OEM antifreezes” are, for lack of a better description, BS.. including Dexcool. Lol. Guess it just depends on how careful ya wanna be, it all does the same thing imo. Good luck with your thermostat change, sounds like the same issue I was having. Lmk if you need any help. :D

    Shoot, I need your kind of help with my 2004 Durango SLT 5.7 Hemi! Same story, been in the family since 2012/2013! It was my son’s truck while in college, now I have it and plan to use it as my catering truck! He gave it to me after my Jimmy was stolen-I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! Never thought I would because I love GM trucks, but I fell in-love and was planning to buy another one too! I took video of what mine was doing... Spraying fluids! First it was a overflow of coolant because someone trying to be helpful overfilled the reservoir-reason why I hate playing the LADY roll at times 😂because I KNOW HOW TO DO MUCH MORE THAN THE AVERAGE WOMAN on my own, yet when I allow others/especially men to help-they create damage! 😖 lol. Now my truck isn’t overflowing coolant anymore-I let it sit for 2days, but now it is spraying a mist downward & upward by pulleys all over alt/belt looks wet & entire top under hood from left to right (Figure fan was reason) looks like drizzle rain drops ontop and under! First day I noticed problem, I had hard time turning wheel to pull off from curb 2days ago first drive out in morning, but hadn’t had that issue repeat itself again! 😅 I drove to gas station, smelled coolant, popped hood-Coolant was overflowing and discovered the dripping from underneath & puddle infront of house when I returned, but now it is clear fluid like water coming out!?? If I turn engine off & leave it alone, the wet areas would dry back up until I run engine again for 30mins! Now after truck has been running for 10-15 mins, no smell or overheating issues, just dripping badly like water right in middle by radiator as well! What do u think is my issue? First I thought the culprits could be one of these: clamp, hose, line, water-pump, radiator or thermostat??? I have mobile mechanic coming in the morning! -6-

    Yep, we scanned the code and it's apparently a "small evap system leak". Usually not much to worry about, it seems to go on and off in my case. From what I've heard the evap systems on a lot of dodge/chrysler vehicles are pretty temperamental and a real pain in the butt lol. GL!

    I had the same leaking problem when I removed the thermostat. I wanted to run some cleaner through the system so I took the old round rubber gasket off of the old thermostat and then put it back together with the gasket in place. Only a slight drip but it was good enough to drive around for a few days and circulate the cooling system cleaner.

    I have an '05 5.7 and the car reaches running temp normally, stays there for a while, and then slowly rises to about 3/4 of the gauge, sometimes it will swing back down quickly and then rise again. I just changed the water pump and flushed the coolant with a new thermostat, and I'm wondering if there is still air in there...
