you don't need the full job name. if you use the 3 char short name, you can get rid of the quotes for the icon so /micon sch classjob is the same as doing /micon "Scholar" classjob

Another tip, keybinds still work on hotbars that are hidden, so you dont need to move buttons off screen to hide them, and you can hide your main keybound abilities and just display important cooldowns if you wanted to.

As a fun addition to this, you can add a specific minion to your macro to complete a theme. For example, I love the new Nosferatu. He goes perfect with Reaper. Add the line /minion "Nosferatu", and you're good. Every one of my jobs has its own minion. Alphi for Sage, Ali for RDM, Gigi for BLM, Merylwyb for MCH, Haurchefant for PLD, Heliodor Carbuncle for SMN, etc. Overall, my macros look like this: /micon "Soul of the Sage" item /snap motion /gs change 1 /minion "Wind-up Alphinaud"

I feel like the minion macro should be before the snap, because summoning has a delay, and it would be more dramatic of the job changes and the minion pops up at the same time. Just speculating.

So been playing around with it and figured it out. I have the same macro saved as individual and shared. I have the individual macro on my hot bar and was editing my shared one if that makes sense.

I love these emote/job change macros. I use snap for healers/physical ranged, megaflare for casters, backflip for most melee dps, power up for tanks, and eureka for crafters. If SE comes out with a smoke screen emote, then holy smokes, my gear change macros would be complete!

Love this idea!! I borrowed your concept and made megaflare macros for my magical toons as well. What do your megaflare macros look like? I'm using but find that it cuts off the animation most of the time. (Oddly enough, switching between SMN and SCH does the full animation but changes jobs at the top of the leap--exactly as I want. But the rest of them get cut off at the top of the leap, and then they abruptly appear on the ground to switch jobs.) Just wondering how you have these set up...

Just to add to this, you can also change glamour plate with the macro. add a second number right after to indicate glamour plate, so in this example, gear set 2 with glamour plate 1 /gs change 2 1 and if you stay on the same job, so if you already are on gearset 2 for example, the snap doesn't get aborted.

A couple of months before Endwalker came out, I made a similar macro to "summon" minions with the snap emote. It's a cute animation, mixing it with a taunt expression kinda makes you feel like Q from Star Trek.

I'm lazy, so I just now finally got around to doing this, despite seeing your video when it debuted six months ago. Thanks for the guide!

Another tip, is you can put the name of the gearset instead of the number, so if you still dont have the class but want to already prepare the macros for every class, you can just save the macro with gearset DRG, so when you get an dark knight you alredy have the macro ready and working

The hiding on the hotbars is actually a really useful thing for controller players too. You can use a smaller hotbar near middle of screen just to monitor your cooldowns, etc.

There is also a method you can use other base job's hotbars, so it doesn't use the hotbars of your main jobs. And you use a macro to copy the contents of those hotbars to your current one.

Found your channel a few days ago... I´m not a beginner but sometimes feel like a total noob ^^* So thanks for your videos :D I use the /thumbsup emote for the jobchange, dont want to pay for a emote, it doesnt look that cool but its ok too :3

little fun fact: because the scholar is technically able to equip the soul of the summoner and vice versa - it doesnt even interrupt the animation of the snap and it looks so nice!

If you don't mind the icons being grayed out during certain situation like combat and when another item is used, you can set the icon to the Jobstone for extra flare.

While /gs change 11 works, the macros can be made a bit more futureproof by using /gs change AST for example. That way the macros won't "break" if for some reason you want to re-order your gearsets.

I've used this for a long time, I have different Jobs paired with different emotes that suit them.

This also works nice with the Power Rangers emotes from Mog Station. Just adjust the wait timing on job change because the animations are a bit longer.

It rounds the value to the nearest whole second. 1.5 seconds rounds up to 2, while 1.4 rounds down to 1.

You can also add another emote after the change to let it look even fancier ^^

You can actually hide the hotbars using the option and still use the hotkey. I usually do this with things like sprint, mount and LB. No need to drag the hotbar off-screen

Yes, but as he says in the video, he uses all the other buttons on that hotbar as temporary storage.

I’ve setup my hot bars with character job icons on hud 4. When I click a job icon to change jobs, it switches back to hud 1 automatically and switches my job so I don’t have to hide the hot bar. It’s pretty sweet

curious if this can be done with Inventory Grid and Main Menu too

Controller player here. Absolutely. I have a macro on one of my cross hotbars that changes my HUD layout to a layout that shows my cross hotbar big and center of screen, and changes the active hotbar to a specific one that houses my job macros. Then, each job macro switches gearset, changes my active cross hotbar back to 1, changes my HUD layout back to normal, and for good measure changes my petsize to small on all but my SMN. So it's like I have this really fast and snappy sub menu I created for changing jobs. And any time I get a new idea for what else the job macros can do for me, I just add them in to the macros.

You posted this a year ago but I just found it. While setting up these macros in Ul'dah, someone snapped and changed in front of me. It was hilarious. Also, the /gcsalute times really well and looks kinda odd when you're switching from one egirl look to another XD

I kinda wanna know what the other macros you have are, would be nice to know, I dont know if I'll need them but it would be nice to know.

I add a line for jobs that have a ‘default’ action you ‘have to’ cast anyway, like /ac “Summon Eos” for scholar, and /ac “Sneak” for my gatherers. /bstance is cool for a lot of dps & tank jobs (=battlestance). I’m sure people can think on a few of those, like turning tank stance on ‘automatically’ too.

Is there a way to hide the duty list, like you did with the hot bars?

Could you do a video on how Materia works and how to use it?

I have to ask, what other macros (I.E. non mogstations ones) could work for this?

Also, [on/off] isn't required but I guess it's nice to read in case you forget what the macro really does, haha

And if you want to be extra slick you can only have those hotbars visible on HUD layout 2, set the hotkey to swap over to that layout, and add a line to the end of each macro that swaps you back to HUD layout 1. that's the way I have it set up at least. just so I don't have to manually hide the hotbars after swapping.

no need to select class based on numbers, you can just do /gs change BLU you can change with class shortcut name rather than using numbers, because if you later change the order of classes, it will ruin your class change micro and for classes like warrior ( using micon will display the soul item rather than just a plain logo) /micon "Soul of the Warrior" item /merror off /gs change WAR /gs change MRD PLD for example, /micon "Soul of The Paladin" item /merror off /gs change PLD /gs change GLA

What are all the macros that you have on the right bar for? Also I wanted to do it with the "power up" Emote too and "wait.3.5" or "wait.4" seem to work pretty good, so you could use other emotes if you really wanted to.

Decimals don't work for waits. They round up or down. Rounding up to the next whole number starting with .5

@@BulborbStare This is so very easy to test that I'm surprised this myth of decimal wait times has lived all these years. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3WIr9GlaZzQgZc.html Use two /echo macros with /wait and and it becomes super obvious that decimals are ignored below 5 and rounded up at 5 or higher.

Having troubles with this. Seems that the macro sometimes just doesn't switch the gearset. Only the snap will occur. Any help?

I have an issue wear when I click on the icon to change jobs, it will either move the job icons around to different spots or make them disappear all together, I have exactly no clue what I'm doing wrong

Every job has their own hotbar layout, so you just need to make sure when you set up your hotbar for the macros, it's always the same layout

I need a smoke bomb emote for ninja. Can use shukuchi if they want…

I haven't done macros before but couldn't you just change the number on the wait for other emotes? Probably wouldn't look as cool but maybe it could wait for the motion to be done at least. Transformation dance!

As micon you can put (/micon "Soul of the ..." item ) in place of ... you put your job name so then your "micon" looks like soul crystal.

I was going to say that you dont have to hide the macro by dragging that part of the hotbar off screen. Even if you have that hotbar display off, you can use the keybind. But then you mentioned you would put items there sometimes, so it’s fine.

Every video with this topic is the same, question is... when i change job, my crossbar skills doesnt follow, so i have to manually go into sharing and disable the correct number etc... also, PC can assign a "hide button for these menus, but what should a console player do? , not much room, since we aint got any f6 etc keys....

Make sure you don't hide the hotbar before the job change happens, that will cancel it

it doesnt work as nice but i use clap because im too poor to afford snap, sometimes it claps 2 times before the change and its awesome but sometimes it lags and claps 3x and it makes me sad lol

You don't need the [on/off] to toggle the bars

Since i have seen the video i don't want to use the snap anymore :'D

The wait command doesn't respond to decimal places, it only uses whole numbers, rounding down any decimals. This is specifically to dissuade use of it for combat macros, as the default GCD is 2.5 seconds.

at least this one is a rather old trick that people found out rather quickly after the emote was released. And this video was requested after he kinda showed himself using it in an earlier video.
