@sciencesaves right on, same here. I thought it was cool that Edelrid included it in their packaging. Gives you an idea of what to do with your old rope that you’re replacing 👍

This is so cute! 10/10 video! Good instructions too! Also in the spirit of re-using old gear, my christmas tree is covered in old dogbones and carabiners that I no longer use!

    Celtic pattern, connect two ends.

What I think most closely resembles your basic pattern in Ashley's book would be a flat lanyard, No. 818. However the ends coming out in the middle and the absence could make it another knot. Hell sometimes they have different names just because you look at them from the other side.

Lol think the first part is a pretzel knot

@@BetaClimbers Actually, that one I found several times. I knew it as a "double coin knot", but it is listed as a "prolong knot" (because you can do exactly, what you did), "gunner's knot" or "artillery knot", depending on the weather, presumably. Also, I found some more info on the finished pattern, which is in fact a "flat lanyard" or "bosun's knot" or just "Chinese knot". The texture is called a basket weave and it can be extended pretty much as far as you like. Now, I'm definitely done knot nerding for today, since it's giving me a headache. No idea who comes up with these names, but I doubt they're fun at parties, but then again, neither am I. Cheers!
