Great video. You can’t beat that stove. I’ve been using wood in mine for years. Great air flow and large cooking surface. See you on the next one.

I recently went through a storm. 3 days no power. My sterno stove was excellent. Indoors, I was able to easily boil water for coffee. AND, small fry pan, seared a steak. It got very hot, don't care what others say. Very efficient and works well. Now I will buy another for outdoor use. Use a lid to heat or boil. I could cook many things on that little stove.

Just got me a sterno stove yesterday, I was able to get out and use it today, i was just in my back yard. I was very impressed, I can't wait to get out into the woods and use it more. Bushcraft and camping is so much fun and this is one of those things that make it even fun. Btw I like your cowboy plate, I have a whole set of them. Keep up the good work

Hello there. Nice little video. Lunch always tastes better out in the woods. I actually just picked up two stoves in the last month. One at Wally World and the other at the local thrift store for $2, still in the box. I bought one of those disposable mesh grill pans. My plan is to cut to size and use it as the ash pan. I will check out the rest of your videos. I subbed also.

Dollar store pie pan.... Where were you when I needed this idea! You should keep making videos, you have a different approach and very interesting take! (Sterno wood stove is definitely a time saver and easy to make on top of it!)

I agree about the pounding music. Sometimes it just seems impossible to escape from it. It is also difficult sometimes to not become cynical about others in the world. But then, that is why man has always ran to the woods, right? Good video to watch. Thank you.

Very nice! I have the Sterno folding stove too, I'm going to try this. I've made a base plate from stainless screen, and left the hooks in place, wired the screen in place. Is that an 8 by 10 tarp you have there? I liked how you showed making tarp pegs from sticks as well, thanks for the video!

I don't understand why you couldn't have left it the way it was and still burnt wood and alcohol? set it on a rock or a bare spot on the ground.....I use it like that all the time and have never even had the slightest hint of an issue.

It works a heck of a lot better with the mods. It even works better as a Sterno stove with that silly thing that's supposed to hold the can of Sterno. But as a wood stove, or as an alcohol or butane stove, you absolutely don't want that left as is. If you haven't had any issues, it's a miracle, and if you would try the mods, you'd see how much better and more efficient it is this way. These are really just standard mods and a lot of people have found work better, and I know from trying it both ways, the mods do work a lot better. Bare ground and rock are nice, but there are reasons all real stoves have a metal base to cook on. It's easier, it's a LOT safer, and you can carry it around with you. On top of this, there isn't always a convenient rock of the right size and shape, and the ground can be soaking wet, which makes a wood fire a problems, unless you have something between the fire and the ground.

Brian F I agree. I use a Trangia military alcohol burner with mine, fits perfect. If I had to make a floor for mine, I would leave the wire as is and drill two holes for wire to fit into, that way floor wouldn't move around.

Everything this guy has is brand spanking g new and pricey i.cludi g his OFFICIAL HOKIBG UNIFORM lol but he makes the wooden stakes when decent lightweight aluminum stakes for .99 cents are at any Walmart. I've used the Sterno stove only with wood forever and never modified it as long as thete is earth under it st most I dog a 4x4 1 inch deep hole under the wood for extra ventilation .Anyway I have go wash my cheap worn out jeans and empty my amazing Outdoor products Venture 17 L pack I got at Walmart for $15 which outlasted my $145:Osprey by 3 years with no signs of wear. ...same withy Ozark trail 5 pieve $6 messkir ..LIGHT AND LOW COST KIDS !! live it

Nice video. You kept it simple yet very enjoyable. Simple is always better in the bush. I use my sterno stove in the same manner. Can't beat it and fuel is always available. There is a guy that is much like you on youtube. Kenneth Klick or Click not sure of the spelling of the last name. But I believe you would enjoy his channel. He makes you feel like your right there with him. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed watching.

I'm not sure what a "click" has to do with Vietnam, but the US Army has used "Klicks" for over 50 years now as a shortened version of Kilometers, a unit of the metric system that denotes a specific distance (i.e. 1000 meters = 1 Kilometer) As a veteran, that was ingrained in me so that is why I use it. blessings and thanks for viewing.

Wandering Parson, Klick started in Viet Nam that was in 1959 when the US Army was first involved there and that was well over the 50 years you mention.

Wow, this man was supposed to show his stove, we had to go through all of this; my God forgive him for he really doesn't know what he is doing. He took too much of the viewers time about nothing, and didn't do anything with the stove.
