My stove came today and I couldn’t be happier. Quality good everything just like your review. I got a large Ziploc bag and put the stove in it. It slides in and out of factory bag Easy Peasy! 5/7/23 I did a mod to the stove, I used 4 stainless steel bolts 2&1/2 inch and two nuts per bolt utilizing the holes in the bottom panel. raise the stove up about an inch and a half. Works really well. Increased air flow and calmed the bottom heating down.

I did the same thing with bolts. Not stainless but so far they're OK. I put a flat washer under the bolt head, and used a spacer over the bolt so I didn't have to thread the nut so far. The bolts lift the stove high enough so you can put a 1/8 size baking sheet under it to help eliminate the fire danger.

One advantage you didn't mention is that you can heat water for a drink and cook at the same time with this stove. It looks pretty good.

I think you should remind people to clear a spot every time they use any stove. No matter which one you are using, you should always be aware of combustibles that are under or around it. You just can't get complacent when it comes to fires.

@@SuziPoozi We had one coal pop out of the fire pit and it sat under one of the chairs all night. In the morning there was a 3 ft' diameter burn area. It had turned the ground into a cigar. A couple more feet and it would have gotten into some combustible stuff. Pretty shocking. Luke is to be commended for emphasizing this.

I think this is a great item for the price. All stoves should have fire protection under them. I may buy this; I like the size and versatility.

Thanks for your suggestion that the company make the case larger. I received mine today. I’m happy to share that the bag is larger and the stove slides very comfortably into it. It also came with a piece of foil!! Keep up the great work, Luke!

I've been using this for few months now. Went snow camping with it recently. What a champ, really puts out! I immediately saw it was too close on bottom as within minutes it was sinking down. So I placed two, say 2" branches under and across each end to curtail it from sinking further. The foil did little in this application. Yes, i too found cooking with a small pot challenging. Mostly it's used as a firepit--a campfire is always great for morale.

That is a really nice stove, catching the ground on fire is an issue though, carrying tin foil is an option if your hiking or if car camping maybe have a large enough cookie sheet under it. I think the company should address that hazard. You definitely have some of the best reviews out here on YT. Thank you for all your hard work S&H

Love the cookie sheet idea, but the bottom of those can get really hot, too. A fireproof pad would be ideal, if there is an asbestos free option.

Catching the ground on fire? Like a bon fire? Maybe just dig a shallow ditch all around it and have bare dirt, when your done add water put the dirt back, walk away, no one knows you were there. All covered up and extinguished with zero human footprint left behind. Or carry a cookie sheet….

Thanks Luke for the review. A titanium version with a grill for the top would be really cool. Maybe even perfect for heating a small lean-to in the fall.

I have several wood-burning stones from firebox, kelly kettle, solo stove, and Tomshoo. I use a piece of carbon felt under all my stones and it makes everything so much easier. Carbon felt is extremely white and much more durable than heavy duty tinfoil.

I bought this due to your excellent review. Basically using it for a portable camp fire on a rainy day. It's a bit tricky putting it together. I'm sure it'll get easier with some practice. Thanks.

I bought one when I saw it on one of your adventures. I love it! Maybe I got one with a bigger pouch, but I have no issues with fitting the pieces in. I highly recommend this stove.

Hi Luke, I finally got around to buying this stove (Amazon) and they included tinfoil (11.8" x 8.7"). I don't recall this being part of the kit when I first looked at it, but it was a nice addition.

Bought one and used it for the first time a few days ago, whilst out fishing. Very impressive. And i only cut myself once while putting it together. Was a bit surprised that the bigger one was cheaper than the small option, but the large option is definitely the way to go.

Thanks for reviewing this. I’ve been hesitant to order a breakdown compact stove because I thought they were all to small. This would be perfect, a simple grate for the top and you could grill on that. Shout out to AzJames, I paid $22.25 30% off and free shipping. As with any fire common sense is the priority. Just bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I did a burn in today. A couple of things that were pointed out in the video as being a hassle were no issue for me. 1. The size of the bag the stove came is was big enough for everything to slide in/out easily. It wasn't a tight fit like the video. 2. The Skymac people actually provided a piece of tinfoil in the setup also. This was pointed out in the video as a test to see if he could protect the ground. While it would be nice if they could elevate the stove a little more I thought it was at least a nice gesture that they (possibly/probably) this video and took to heart some of the critiques in the video. I like what I have and look forward to using it in upcoming camping trips.

So I just bought one. Using it tonight with a Holden tarp tent camp. I’m REALLY liking this! Have a pile of 6” long firewood and rock’n it. Thanks Luke for the review. Just what I was looking for! ✌️

I got one of the no name smaller ones og these stoves. As you say it works extremely well due to the good ventilation from below. But as you also mention it burns the ground to ash deep down. So I cut a piece of protective cloth made of fiberglass and aluminum foil used by welders for protection against molten metal. It worked like a charm......for about 30 minutes. Then I saw smoke appear from under it. After the burn I found the fiberglass to have been melted as is was brittle as sand, and just fell apart. So what ever you do, do not place this type of stove directly an the ground. Place is on rock, of some sort of adequate protection. It WILL burn the ground and leave ugly scars.

After watching your review I bought one immediately. Received it in 2 days. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but I’ve assembled it and it’s nice. Bought a couple of Lixadas after one of your great reviews. The medium size is only good for boiling a cup of water and needs constant feeding of small sticks. The large is more adaptable / useful but it's square sides limits the size of the fuel, particularly when fire-pitting. This stove looks like it's right up my alley. Thanks for another good product review. I like the size especially for cooking under a tarp out of the rain/snow. I like to cook over a fire but sometimes the weather doesn't allow it with a fire pit. I would probably make myself a pan to catch the ashes and protect the ground but it would be nice if they included one. Having to make modifications to new items always bugs me. I have the exact same stove and let me just say you arent kidding about the heat output. You can EASILY feel the heat from a ways away. I love this stove, i burn everything in this thing ive even used it with a short gas tank inside and burner as a wind block

Thank you for another good review. If I hadn’t bought a Campingmoon fire pit/grill I would be interested in this. The Campingmoon has an ash pan and good separation from the ground but weighs a bit more than this stove/fire pit. I’ve found the Campingmoon great for cooking food for two people and we like it as a small fire pit but we do use a small fire blanket under it anyway.

Looks perfect for my needs, & the proximity to the ground is easily mitigated with some rocks (bit of a nuisance, but doable). 👍

15 years ago I bought a very similar stove made by a guy from Northern Ontario which is a little longer weighs 2lb and critically has a solid sheet floor 1 1/2 inches below the fire with another 1 inch below that. It constrains the fuel compared to yours but does not set fire to the ground I still take a foil sheet anyway for sparks and added protection.

$30??? All and all that looks like good value for the price and as you said, has many options and does them all well. Honestly, I have to give that thing about an 8.5 to 10 rating. And two 👍🏻👍🏻thumbs up for the presentation of the product.

Thank yo7u for this video. The stove looks like a great piece of kit. I like the dual, stove/firepit functionality. With some forethought, e.g., some tinfoil, a cookie sheet, or some bolts and nuts to raise it off the ground, the burning-ground issue could be successfully handled. Then, the stove actually becomes a tool for somewhat better fire control on the trail, as well as an aid to Leave No Trace camping. All that and not too costly!

I picked up a skyemac stove today for 8.99. It was missing the bellow & the hemp fire starters. I appreciate your review it will be very helpful during the first burn. Heavy duty tin foil will always be part of the kit .

I just ordered this and plan to use it on a marble top surface with a fire mat underneath. The price cant be beat and to burn a bunch of brush in the city this will work great. ty for your review

After watching the video on this stove, I decided to order one as Luke said. The flat pack for it will fit well with my off-road travels on my OHV camping. Putting it together the first time was interesting, as it fell apart, then I figured it out. Mine came with a ziploc baggie containing a dozen or so rope type fire starters soaked with I think possibly kerosene and the extendable tube to blow air on the fire. I would agree on the part of having something under it to keep the ground from catching fire. I have a trip this weekend to Elko, Nevada and will use it to cook lunch when out in the desert. I've learned after using this stove for a couple weeks now, when assembling the front portion that doesn't have the tab it makes it esier to put it on last it make its easier to clip in without the tab there allowing the metal to flex more. However to be honest it didn't look like you had any trouble doing it with the front first.

Luke, I sent you an email on this before, but I found Fire Box products very interesting. They come in Stainless Steel and Titanium, and there are many configurations it can be assembled in. The Freestyle Modular Stove is currently on sale for $70.00. Yes, it is expensive, but you get a lot for that money. With the accessories it can be used with the Trangia Spirit Burner, Gas Burner, and of course, as much wood as a Woodchuck can chuck. They also identified the same problem with burning the ground, so the lid that the components come in seconds as a ground protector. But, the main reason I looked at this is that it is made in the USA. That’s right folks, American born and American made. Not any of that cheap China-crapola. No sir, your hard earn money won’t be funding the next supersonic missile, nor will 10% be going to the big guy, nor is child labor involved … unless of course, the owner’s kids help with the company. I just grabbed a roll of aluminum foil and made a 6 layer rectangle about 12" by 9". It makes it a more durable protective sheet and can fit back into the pouch. One could make it bigger to keep the ashes contained by folding up edges.

I like this. One thing tho Luke. I think the back plate needs to go on before the front plate. That may explain why there's no middle slot for the front. Do side section 1 into the back section, then side section 2. Then put in the base...then close it up and slide on the front as it doesn't have the slot...it should just slice into place. I may be wrong. But I bet that's the correct assembly steps. Rob.

I have rhe small version of this stove. Used it for 2 weeks to cook on. I put a alcohol stove inside it, so the walls acted as a wind break when it was too wet to use fire wood and was stormy. I also used wood inside it too, after hurricane ian cut our power for 2 weeks. A 9" skillet works fine, but for grilling and camp fire, the large version would be divine for the small increase of weight!

Nice video and nice stove. It IS kind of a big one though...haven't seen one that size before. By the way - so glad to see someone who knows how to use a collapsible bellows the correct way. Can't tell you how many folks I've seen who blow into the small end. Physics works against you if you do that since going from smaller to larger tubing drops the pressure for the same given volume of air and makes you work even harder. Also thanks for the tip about the low ground clearance. Definitely don't want to set the woods on fire. Again - very good video!

I think I would really like this stove. I have a couple UCO fold flat stoves that I enjoy. I use them mostly as a fire pit. I think the Skymack is very interesting, and I believe I am going to have to get one.

Hey Luke! Cool new product, it looks interesting despite the big con. I have been a fan of the picogrill stuff since I found them. They have something for everyone from lonewolfs to big families. Even as a solo I love the 239 for both cooking and grilling stuff, but the 85 is totally fine. The campfire grills look nice but I have no need for something as big, so I can testify to their worth. For me it’s imperative that the stove has walls for reduced visibility while stealth camping. The ohuhu one you got is fine for that, but double the weight. I’m no gram weenie but it’s a considerable difference.

I like it a lot with that price point. I think I would invest in a little bit of fiberglass fire, retardant material and make my own bag for it. Make the bag just a little bit bigger like you say, and use that as a dual purpose: place that underneath the stove. I like this.

👍👍👍 A good rectangular wood stove. An additional solid ash plate would have made it an even better one. When / if necessary, I use the larger of a rectangular aluminium mess tin set to protect sensitive surfaces from heat. Put the Bushbox LF Folding Wood Stove inside and add some water. It does not require much and top up as and when required. I've cooked up a storm, even on top of a wooden tables and seating in my forest with very little heat transfer downwards. Moving the burning stove around is easy peas. Disposable aluminium pie / baking trays work just as well and they can be 'salvaged' after being used for their intended purpose. Lack of a solid ash plate though, would limit the above-mentioned option somewhat .. that sizzling and steam ..

Out of all the twig burners you’ve tried I like that one the best. Definitely need a ground cover. It’s a great size.

As soon as i saw it i knew i had to have it (already ordered ). I have found a stainless mesh grill rack that fits the top perfectly and a mini cookie sheet/baking pan that should fit the bottom perfectly

Nice looking stove. Create ground clearance by threading bolts through bottom, length of bolts woild determine how much ground clearance you have. Just a thought.

Super-heating roots is a serious deal. Roots can smolder for weeks. It's the main reason I will never make a dakota fire hole. Those roots just sit there smoldering intil they stop or travel to the tree itself and combust. You want to be at least 12 feet away from any trees if you are bulding a ground fire. And if you can't, you find stones to build the fire on. If you can't find stones you build a berm or mound of dirt. I respect your thought process so much when you are in the field.

I like the longer-fire potential for using two cooking vessels at once: for example, a pot and a pan. For relatively cold weather, this with a reflector can send heat your way over a longer length.

2000 to 2010 best decade for cars and 2005 was the best year!

This size makes sense to me. The bottom is a problem, but then it is also easily fixable.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the back on first, then the sides and the front last? You can also use a 12" x 6" pack grill to cover the top of this. It fits very nicely. As someone mentioned, you can cook and heat water for coffee or whatever at the same time. You also can cook larger pieces of meat and bigger fish without having to cut them in to child size portions.

I like it and if I was in the market for something like that I would buy it.

I just bought this Skyemac stove (after watching your review) and I think Skyemac watched your review. I say that because it came with two pieces of aluminum foil. I haven't used it yet. Just assembled it. I hope it's durable. I question the thinnest of the metal?!? 🤞🏼
