Background: Maggie and Tommy live in Anacortes, WA as private chefs in a small somewhat isolated community. The affluence within Anacortes and limited selection of dining options create a unique opportunity for us as private chefs serving a desperate need. Because there are so few options, being able to cook diversely is our most desirable attribute in this beautiful place.
The food vacuum we live in has had a massive effect feeding our own family as well. Going for pizza or tacos are the only options in our community. Sure there is a Chinese restaurant and a Thai place etc. but economically it became unsustainable to eat the takeout we wanted in addition to the limited selections. Cooking at home became about a desire to have, let's say i.e. "butter chicken", and no where to get it within an hour of our home. Or, we wanted pizza, and everyone wants something different of course, making our local pizza order over $50, for 10" individual pizzas. We could make the dough from scratch with local flour thats way better for our family and feed everyone exactly what they wanted for less than $20 and still have leftovers. After all, we are private chefs, if we can do it for our clients then we absolutely should be doing it at home. Priorities, that was it.
We want to spread how we do things. We want to show you the tips and tricks we use in our home kitchen. Some things are easier to make then others but we will never waste your time by oversplaining stuff you already know. We hope to give you Inspiration. We hope you make our recipes, but even better we hope to teach you a technique or trick you can use at home to feed your own families better.
We hope to build a community of Great Home Chef's across the globe.
