Chef here. This is actually the most “humane” way to kill a crayfish/lobster/crab…they immediately die bc u pierce the brain so any movement after slicing it in half through the face is just nerve spasms. But personally like he said I do not believe these creatures feel pain like we do…the complexities of feeling pain and understanding what’s happening to you, where the pain is coming from, being conscious and understanding what’s happening takes such complexities that I do not believe their brains can comprehend pain the way you would if someone snapped your arm off…also I think these dudes shed their outer shells and repair themselves.

you'd be surprised how much meat contains parasites. That's why you can't have a medium rare pork chop. Bottom feeders like this are highly likely to have parasites, and that's also why you aren't suppose to eat them under cooked.

You do realize if cooked correctly you won't have to worry about being sick by any parasite from the host. Extreme heats will kill all parasite. Now if there's others parasites or viruses that I don't know then that's the whole different story which I'm betting there probably is, maybe you can't boil them to a crisp. But that's just I guess on my side but definitely boiling them would absolutely would kill anything inside to purify it.

Heyo! Marine Biologist here! It’s a debated topic on the topic of pain reception in lobsters and I’m here to clarify for the internet today. Lobsters lack the neural complexities to feel the sensation of “pain” the same way we do as humans. Most mammals have around 100 billion neurons while insects (which the lobster kinda is), have only about 100,000, making them much much less likely to feel “pain”. That being said, this “gentle”man probably didn’t do anything to stun or slow the creature for preparation beforehand and it’s movements after the cut (assuming he struck the brain and didn’t kite around it), can be considered involuntary movements. Still though….that cut was pretty unskilled…

​@JustGamer075 basically yea, just like insects they don't have enough neurons physically available. We obviously don't know exactly what they feel but it's probably not pain like we feel. This exact neuron count is why a lot of cultures refuse to eat cephelopods because their count is far greater than most other animals.
