Cooking in a RoadPro 12 Volt Oven
Roadpro Oven on Amazon: amzn.to/33VfzxX
Today we meet Tim who uses a Roadpro Portable Stove to cook some of his simple meals. He enjoys it a great deal for its convenience and ease of cooking. It's powered by a cigarette lighter plug and is great for warming up frozen meals, leftovers, and other convenience foods. It really is great for "bachelor" food!

I just ran accross one at a thrift store that was brand new for $5...best $5 I have ever spent.
I'm a corn bread fan, too, and here's a trick to brown the top...about 15-20 minutes before done, pull loaf pan out and cover top with foil. Flip pan over so top sits on bottom of oven. It does brown! Bon appetit!

That’s brilliant. Hadn’t thought of that.
I used to drive truck and had one of those; i used to make pork roast with potatoes onions and veggies, i would pull into a rest area and then open the windows and watch people. The looks on their faces when they smelled real food was precious lol
I'd replace the aluminum foil with glass Tupperware that I can store later. Silicone is a pain to wash. A tip given by a stranger at the supermarket that over the years make me look like I'm a good cook...a can of onion soup, some tiny Potatoes, carrots and stew meat. No salt, no water needed. Keep on driving. The best home made stew by noon. You can also use onion soup mix if you want to save space and weight but add some water.
Love mine. Paid for itself feeding three people ONE meal on a trip. Have used for three years. Here are my tips. Use a Crock-Pot liner. Essentially baking in a bag. No cleaning needed and leftovers have a bag. Pre pack meals ingredients in the crock pot bag and have easy to grab. We love two packs pre cooked penne pasta, 1 small can tomato paste, 1 can cooked spinach drained and one can artichoke hearts partially drained. Mix all together and drive with the oven plugged in 30 minutes. Quick to heat refried beans for burritos or nachos. Start cooking whole potatoes at the beginning of the trip about two hours. Thirty minutes before you want to eat add canned chilli and drive thirty more minutes.
I am a truck driver and they are worth the money for sure.

Every time I hear that intromusic, it simply brings a smile to my face :-)

Right?! I miss that tune and I sometimes watch the old ones for the intro and outro music❤😊
As a small child in the 60s my parents made our first of many trips across country from coast to coast. One of my fondest memories is a coil my parents had, it went in the cigarette lighter spot & they were able to warm the baby s bottle ,make a cranky child some hot cocoa, or a sleepy dad a hot coffee. That coil was a Godsend to our family of four children under 5, my parents & Grandma ! Reminds me of how far we've come with our travel gadgets. Thanks for the review 👍

@@MrOlson4863 I've had one of those could for over twenty years. Still use it now and then. Stick it in a can of chili or Chunky soup, stir it around for about ten minutes, done!
We were truck drivers and many a meal was made in this oven. I fixed rice on the bottom, chicken on top of that and some veggies on top of that. Was a great meal for two. Made all kinds of nice fresh meal while we were driving down the road.
I've owned 1 for years. Worth the money . I use foil or the aluminum loaf pans Bob described. The pans can be found at stores such as Dollar Tree ,etc. for about 3 to 5 pans for a dollar. Truck stops will be about a buck a piece. That's where foil comes in handy. I'm a trucker also.
I bought one last night from a flying J for $22 with the 3 aluminum pans for free. I can’t wait to try out.
Put a nice beef roast in an oven bag with some potatoes ,onions and carrots with a little salt and pepper and it will cook to perfection.Used one for years when i was OTR.Great for heating up canned food too.
I use one of those in the truck and you can use the roasting bags in them
I've had one of these for years now, and think they're great!!! I agree that they're best used while driving, as they're inefficient and draw a LOT of power. You're better off using a microwave or hot plate if your inverter can handle it when parked and running off solar, as those will cook things quicker on less power overall. I bought a rigid aluminum loaf tray at Walmart that I had to slightly bend to make fit inside the oven, but it lets me remove it for cleaning and so there's no risk of damaging the interior. (Trays work better than aluminum foil for things like soup/stews.) I'll pour a little water in it before I place the tray inside to conduct heat better from the bottom and surround the tray a little, which has the benefit of adding humidity to keep things from drying out too much.
I work outside sales in a pickup. Really gets old and expensive eating out. I found one of these while in a Loves. Decided to give it a try. Its money well spent!!! I use it a lot, especially in rainy or cold weather. It makes great oatmeal from the packets with a small bottle of milk from the dollar store. Here is one that's quick and easy. Cheesy Chicken Spagetti 2 packs of ramen noodles not the seasonings 2 cans of sweet sue chicken 1 jar of tostitos salsa con queso Cook until ramen noodles are done. Happy travels!!!!
You asked if I would spend $25 and I have to say not only would I , I did it twice, as my first one was stolen out of my car years ago. My buddy turned me onto this 12-13 years ago and i love it!
Used the Road Pro for several years and the cooking possibilities are endless. Meatloaf, biscuits, and on and on. Reheat almost anything in 30 minutes. Gotta try those cookies!
I use a small bread pan inside as opposed to the disposable pans. I had to clip the handles off the end to fit. And I pour about 1/4" of water in the bottom so it doesn't dry out breaded foods.

I use the bread pans also but mine fit nicely also use the water on the bottom Love mine had mine for eight years.
Had one a few years ago when I was on the road. This review is spot on. They are worth every penny.
If you want a better alternative to foil I use parchment paper. 200ft is cheap, more nonstick, more eco-friendly, and can stand the heat of any oven type. Don't confuse it with wax paper. I get mine at Sam's Club but you can get it other places. We have lined pizza pans, cookie sheets, loaf pans with meatloaf or baked goods with no problems and no sticking. I also think things like cookies don't burn like on foil. I'm not a nomad but if I was $25-35 for an oven is a great deal if you have the solar or are driving!
Affordable and nomads have time, so prolonged cooking is not a problem. Genius!
Have to say you gentlemen are very creative bakers.😉👍🏻
Friends of mine gave me 1 & I love it!! Chicken & apples cooked in it....Yum!!
I used one when driving my semi, loved it
Thanks for this video! I've been eyeballing these for a while, and now I'm sold! 👍😀
A little tip guy's and gals,... Dollar Tree sales the bread pans that fit PERFECTLY inside 3 for a $1.00. I do spaghetti in mine ALL the time, hotdogs, chicken... set a timer on my phone and WAH-LAH!!!! We also have the butane stove that we bought before this one and we RARELY use that one anymore. This thing is perfect!! P.S., get some Walmart colorful Bungie cords. THE BLUE ONE* holds this together when the little snap handle breaks!
Thanks for all the info. Love your videos Bob
I just tested mine this week with my Bluetti! It heated really well! I’m looking forward to using it when we hit the road 😎🤗🇨🇦
Hi I,m so excited I just bought my first van ,thank you for shering love your videos
These are awesome 'micro' ovens. I and my partner are Former truck drivers and we used them a lot. Mostly for re-heats of leftovers. But very impressive, as you say.
yes, would definitely buy ,
Love my Roadpro! Cook everything in it. Great for soups.
Used these over the years in my truck works like a crock pot
Nice ! Yep I would buy it! Thanks Bob and company !! ✌🏼❤️
Excellent information!! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I also do Pot pies
This is an amazing cooker. You have some great videos. Thank you.
Add a butane culinary torch to brown and crisp your meals.
Love French bread pizza in mine too. This little oven is just great!
Just ordered one. Can't wait to try it.
I think this little oven is a great idea!
That thing is awesome! I want that! Thanks for sharing!
Great little gadget. Yes I will buy it 😀
thanks bob so informative, love your channel thanks for sharing love ya all Nancy safe travels and god bless
Looks like would work for what I need. Thank you
Good info. Thank you!
I cook everything in that box, beef stew, Ramen, frozen dinners, pizza, boiled eggs, breakfast scramble with hash browns and sausage, pasta, been using it for 6 years now an I still prefer it over my microwave
Got one a few weeks ago. Love it!
Seems like a great oven thanks Bob
Thanks BOB
i need one...great idea
Bought through your amazon link. Looks worth it
(Food Grade Silicone Bags) are the way to cook with these "unless you want something browned/crisp". No throwing away tinfoil or scarring the surface at all. I have one of these in my Micro RV along with the Road Pro Water Heater, and Fry Pan - they work very well! FYI - I always place my food on the dash or out somewhere in the sun to thaw or even warm up to room temp before cooking - this cuts the cooking time in half and saves energy/battery power. Note: Runs great off my Jackery 500.
Thanks Bob ✋👏👍✌💚😎 Great video .. all the best from Saudi Arabia
Wow very nice 👍
for years buying one of these things and my wife finally did it. I bought the Koolatron model since it uses 9 amps instead of 12 that the road pro does. So it might take a little longer to warm stuff up but usually in an1.5 to 2 hours I got piping hot food. Wish I had bought one years ago.I've been trucking 10 years and I've only had that for a year.I also can and will use foil on the bottom but most of the time I use glass Tupperware found at the dollar stores. Saves tons of money especially if you're a day cab driver, but even Long haul it's better to shop at Walmart than it is at the truck stop for food and if you got the real 12 volt refrigerator plus a 12 volt plugin style also from Koolatron (they work better than the igloo/Coleman ones). You should at least easily have food for a week or two if packed right.. sandwiches and salads get old real quick
I have one of these and run it off of my Jackery 500. You can make some really great and good for you too, meals with this oven. There are even some cook books out there. Didn’t know about the cookie trick. Thanks..... I need that like a whole in the head.....

❤my RoadPro! Silicon Egg Rings are great for an Egg Omelets. 1 Ring for the Omelet and 1 Ring for Tater Tots or diced Hot Dogs, breakfast served. Refrigerator Biscuit Dough and toppings for fresh personal size Pizza. Love Fish Sticks in the RoadPro, not real crispy but still tastes good with dipping sauce. Reheats restaurant fast-foods really nicely!
Nice little cooker.
Thumbs up for sure 👍 I've known about them but haven't picked one up yet I drive a charter bus and will have to get one for work
I connect mine to my Kodiak solar power generator and it works great! I also have a Mini Logic 12 volt mini slow cooker which also works great.
It’s great for reheating already cooked food like leftovers. I wouldn’t try to cook raw meat - low and slow may produce unfriendly/bad bacteria. I found a pan the right size on Amazon - no throw away aluminium foil. I raise the pan off the bottom with a canning jar metal ring - prevents scorching. Nice to have a hot meal ready to eat after driving!

It heats up to 300 degrees. That’s hot enough to kill bacteria.
Here's a wonderful tip: try a recipe for corn bread pudding, cut in half or in quarters! You can do this with a corn bread mix and just add the extra ingredients that aren't in the mix. It's heavenly!
Got a newused e250 n converting it into a conversion n was debating on going down the gas road but this little guy changed my mind..thanks for convincing me
I think for 25 bucks even if it only lasted a year it's money I would save not eating at the fast food restaurants. Thanks Bob!

Eating healthier too, i do meat (minced or cut up small) rice and fresh veg. stock or tinned tomatoes. Cooks great. cheap as.
I think it is good for simple meals like you say if used right you won't have to eat junk food from fast food place and so on .
Good value for ovenless rigs
Could put in a small alum tray and warm up some beef stew or steam veggies in there too! Think Big! Great vid. Love these simple, affordable tricks we can all learn.

I did a can of soup in a small loaf pan. Took about 25 minutes.
Yes
I live in my van and I’ve been feeding myself via a RoadPro for the last year. It’s fantastic. I use the 2 lbs aluminum loaf pans to heat up pre cooked meals from Smiths or Safeway, or soups, beans, frozen meals, etc. I’ve even reheated left over burritos. I've heated water to make pour-over coffee or milk for hot chocolate. Last year I reheated my thanksgiving "doggie bag". As you said, this draws 10-12 amps so unfortunately it does not work on my Suaoki 220 portable power station which only outputs 5w from the dc port. I power it via the van's c/l port (engine running at least 50% of the cooking time). Thx for the tip on the cookies and French bread pizza I’m always looking for something new to try. Overall I highly recommend the RoadPro.

As a former driver, My wife used leftovers and I ate them, instead of truck stop slop. Ate better and saved money at the sometime. GREAT product, still use it on trips.
I use an invertor and my small slow cooker. Used it for years
Looks great after six months of use! Seems like it will last forever with that aluminum lining idea! And a GREAT price at just $25.
I love mine....
I love mine
I've used the crock pot a lot too
Me and my wife cook pork chops in mushroom soup in the one we have and it works great i highly recommend trying it.
I forgot about how great Stuffed Peppers cook in it! For longer travel days fresh Stuffed Peppers are definitely worth making your drive time count!
Omg i love Cornbread too Bob .
Do yourself a favour and get the Koolatron. The power wire on mine just broke after 30 years. Cut the heating time in half for 24 volts.
Looks like it'll heat up a large can of Romano beans and a can of ham which I really enjoy at the end of a long day of driving...👍 Thanks
The price point is just right if I spent a lot of time on the road I buy 2-3 of them to make a good meal with the frozen lasagna. One modification I have done with the jiffy corn bread mix I substitute The liquid For a can of cream of corn.I cook it on my oval cast-iron skillet in the gas barbecue. It’s been five ++ years plus since I’ve made it last I can’t remember if the ratio is substitute mixture is one part liquid to one part cream of corn?? Might have to add a little bit more cream of corn for liquidity I don’t remember but it was great👍👍.
Hi Mr. Bob
Tip on the pans. Blackstone grills sell a small foil pan for catching grease but it will fit & they r more available at hardware stores
Eggs, spam and cheese omelets!
Wish I could thumbs up this video twice.
Yard sales alot of times you can find them and second hand stores
I use mine with aluminum loaf pans to avoid messing up the actual pan...I make wraps at home, and in the morning take them out and put them into an insulated bag for them to thaw a bit...Pop them into the oven...done in about 35 minutes!
I spent 34 plus 4 for extended warranty. Mines the kooltron one. Works great
You should read the ingredients in Jiffy Mix. If often has lard in it. Going for a more expensive brand can be wiser health wise.
Any frozen food seems to work good in there also put can goods do good just don’t leave it too long or it can pop
I have one and used it all the time when I drive a truck. I hate cleaning so I put the aluminum pan inside. There's no sink in a semi.
I'm a truck driver. I have one. It costs more than $26 these days but yes, it's worth it.
I think that little "oven " for $25 is a great deal!
I bought one and didn’t like it much. I replace it with a rice cooker. The rice cooker can cook eggs, boil water and heat up food too.

Dim Sum what a great idea thumbs up👍.Note beware the country of origin of the rice because Japan’s growing belt is in the Fukushima radiation area and they’re producing more food now from that radiated sector them before The power plant melted down and spewed radiation all over the world but primarily a lot of fallout that region. What is ironic is that you see in pictures of farmers turning the farms with all those 1 ton bags of radioactive material which are emitting Continuous pulsing radiation🤮🤬. And don’t drink the sake!!!!
🔥
I have the road pro oven and the road pro crock pot I like the crock pot better than the oven. I throw chicken veg and potatoes in just before I leave to go somewhere it takes me 3 hours to get there by the time I set up camp and get setteled My dinner is ready and I can relax
I buy the foil pans at walmart or dollar tree and also use the oven bags which I can fill fill with meat and veggies
Seen one of this at a thrift store, still in the box for 15 bucks... shudda grabbed it!
