Atleast the judges in Canada taste your food completely, then talk about it. The ones in USA just spit it out, and make it a point that your birth had to do something with your dish.

I liked what they did in Masterchef Australia once, where during a pressure test, the decision was so close that they decided not to eliminate anyone since it was literally down to the tiniest of details which the judge decided wasn't worth someone going home for.
honestly i like that they're really chill and it feels like you're actually learning something but since they praise everyone it's hard to tell who's gonna go home and if the judges actually made the right decision

As a steaks & burgers grillman, I have to say that only 1 dish that can be considered to be a medium rare steak is the first guy contestant. The 2nd and 4th was a medium. And lastly, the 3rd and even the example is closely to be medium well already. Medium rare supposed to have some of rare part like 25% or less, but make sure that it still have some rare part. that's why it's called medium-rare.

This is a pretty easy challenge, I mean as far as cooking goes. I'm honestly surprised this appeared so late in the show with just 8 contestants. This is gotta be one of the first things you should learn when learning to cook for yourself. You can cook a variety of different meats with this technique. Pretty essential for pork chops - can make them taste far better than the $3-4 they cost to buy.
@legendaryjimbob7685
2 жыл бұрын
While its rather easy but its also so easy to screw up, little too high heat and your butter is done for, little too low heat and your steak is too raw etc. Its such simple dish that it also makes people overconfident really easily causing them to get sloppy and make the small mistake and ruin their steak.
@Terdfertersen

I biggest pet-peeve with seasoning steak right before grilling led me to put salt on my steaks several hours before grilling. It has made a huge difference in flavor and helps to absorb the excess moisture for a nice sear.
@jjettswriting1900
Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Making sure that the steak is dry will help you to get a good sear, and seasoning even a 1/2 hour before you put it on the heat will help the steak absorb more seasoning (massaging it in works too but many people don't like touching the raw meat... I guess because they don't like washing their hands?) these poor chefs only have minutes to season

We have learned from the mistakes we made, but overall were really happy with the outcome. We're committed to eating our mis-steaks while we learn. How do you keep multiple steaks going for a family of four though? two large pans? sheet tray in the oven while cooking one at a time?

Chef Claudio is a menace for cutting the steak like that.
that was one of several rare cases when we see Chef Alvin smile and laugh
They just did the clapping emote at 4:10 !!!
In my own opinion, the only medium rare steak was the first one. I am also a believer that everyone has different understandings of steak temperatures and doneness so to each their own.

Degree of doneness is defined differently in every country. None of the ones in the video could be called medium-rare in France.

idk dude. the second one looks about right, the first is a bit under, the forth is a bit over.

I also thought that the first was the perfect medium rare... the others looked medium. Though I'm not a chef, so what do I know :D
when people talked about how Claudio cut the steak vertically, i thought they meant to cut against the grain so its tender, apparently yes, that seemed mentally illegal
I love this show...because very interesting ❤️❤️
This season was different because every cook was great. Unlike other seasons where Alvin used to rage like crazy.
4:40 i think my brain just committed suicide after watching this
Every BBQ man watching this video be like: "I should be a MasterChef"
5:53 you lose a lot of salt and PePeE when your'e cookin'
A couple of those were definitely more on the side of medium than medium-rare. 4:45 is the only one I would say is genuinely a perfect medium-rare.

Me: That is medium not medium rare... Claudio: Thats Perfect Me: Thats the best medium rare ive seen.
I mean the steaks were rare to mid rare... They all looked good too. I just love how agreeable Canadians are. Pleasant nice folk
It was 1 undercooked 2 perfect 3&4 slightly overcooked. It just shows it comes down to seasoning
7:13 Kinda Sus Chef Alvin 🤨
Tbf, with how they film, they didn’t even need to rest them for 5 mins cause they’re probs taking like 10 min breaks between scenes anyways.

not really, remember they need the steaks on the plate before the time runs out. they don't want the juices spreading across the plate right as they place the steak down on the plate.
Man I can't even write "hello" in 15 minutes and here they are cooking a steak in 15 minutes!

Hi there
The dude who sliced the steak vertically was a Tyrant in another life.
This should be the basics of every masterchef competition. See if they truly understand protein
filet mignon is so easy. cast iron pan on medium high, butter with salt and peper both sides. 4 mins each side and then 4 mins each side in a 350 degree oven (still in the pan). perfect medium rare every time
