Actual punk fan and musician since the 80s here... SOAD gets full support from me musically and lyrically. Also a punk fan hearing this and thinking weird Al instead of Jello Biafra... hmm, dunno what to say about that.

I'm an old Punk back from the 70's, I discovered SOAD back in early 2000's from some younger guys I was working with at the time and this band very quickly became one of my all time favourite bands!

No, System of a Down did not make a Zelda Song. In the days of Napster the band 'The Rabbit Joint,' had a Zelda song that confused people who saw a file mislabeled that and listening to the track which sounds much like System of a Down. The Rabbit Joint.

Well you are listening to people who don't know much about music then. The guy is right. SOAD used some hip hop elements in few of their songs. If you knew who produced their Toxicity album, you would understand that.

But I can hear it. I love Slayer but they did in 1998 with the album In Diablica in Musica ( if I spelled it correctly ) tried different concepts and styles. Granted System of a Down was probably infants when Slayer formed but progression is good especially for a band that didn't do 15 to 20 years and did 5 years and Toxicity comes out, technically their second album, and they burned up bands they were opening for. Good writing, musicians and production none the less.

Musically hip hop and metal do go together very well in terms of structure and beat, just differ on tempo, singing style etc but that's why nu-metal such as Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit etc works like it does because the two genres overlap musically. A lot of metal "purists" don't like to admit this.

One thing they kept telling the people about their strategy in Iraq was going to be was called "shock and awe", and the band tries to rely that "shock and awe" in the sudden dramatic switch ups.

Do you like your music heavy. Have you ever heard of will haven . ? A great one to check out and my first track I loved of theirs is called Carpe Diem ( meaning seize the day) the style is heavy as hell infact they spearheaded their own genre called noise metal. I'd describe thier sound as blistering, searing dark and macabre with creative rythmes . The lyrics are actually beutiful even though hard to depict as their growled and the spirit of this song has a special meaning to me as at the time all my mates were older settled and married off. Seizing the day as it were I refused to go home after work one random Friday as I was never gonna meet anyone in my bedroom and stayed out for a few drinks. A cosmic collision that would be my future wife randomly was covering a bar for a friend unpaid and we got talking and dating from that night. 20 years later still married and going strong ..

What? Serj does 90% of the vocals including screams. Guitarist/writer back singer does high part in harmonies mostly with exceptions. I havent listened to Soad in 20yrs and know this basic stuff. React to the first album or even 2nd, soad gets worse after that that. 5:33 that he likes is backup singer songwritet
