Convert Molar Mass to Moles (2021)

To convert a molar mass to moles, you HAVE to know the amount of substance, given in Grams. This is because molar mass is how many grams each MOLE of the substance weighs, like a ratio, so you need at least one other piece of information to solve for moles.
mass = moles TIMES molar mass.

holy this is light years easier than how my science teacher taught me!! she taught us something similar but instead of straight dividing we had to do this weird cross multiplying thing that i never got the hang of. super helpful video! finally helped me understand!

Hi, if i have a Molar mass of 314.45 g/mol and wish to make up 2.0 uM of solution into mls, what would be the answer please mate? I have tried for 2 hrs to solve this. You make it easy where others include lots of confusing unhelpful steps.

Thank you for this video. However, I have a question. What if we only have molar mass? Let me explain the problem. Olympic cyclists fill their tires with helium to make them lighter. Assume that the volume of the tire is 860 mL, that it is filled to a total pressure of 125 psi, and that the temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. Also, assume an average molar mass for air of 28.8 g/mol. Part A. Calculate the mass of air in an air-filled tire. M1. Part B. Calculate the mass of helium in a helium-filled tire. M2. Part C. What is the mass difference between the two? Thanks!

Impossible. They have to tell you HOW MUCH of the substance is there.

@@chemistNATE either my textbook is weird or I’m not seeing something. Could there be a way to do it with molar mass and molar ratio?
