Indeed, the Hindu/Yoga religion is extremely profound. However, it is extremely dishonest to not disclose to others that in studying any aspect of Yoga they are entering into a study of the Hindu religion.

With all due respect, Sir, Hinduism is not a religion. At best, you can call it a philosphy. The word "Hindus"itself was given by Persians to the people living east to the river Sindhu. As there was no sense of identity, there has been no zeal for conversion. There is no believer-non believer concept. No Prophet, No single book, No single philosphy. Religion, as a concept divides society into believer and non-believer. Sprituality, on the other hand, is individual's business and doesn't concern masses. There is no code that has to be followed like a cult. It is an individual expereince-thus decentralized and very organic. So, thare is no such thing like "Hindu religion". You may refer it to as Hindu sprituality but again, that too won't make much sense as its gonna be an experiential thing for the individual, so can't be given an identity/name. Yoga is a tool to apprach sprituality, just like you have physical exercises for fitness, it can't be called a religion. Furthermore, with continual scientific research confirming beenfits of Yoga, for eg a report by Harvard Medical School stated that consistent Yoga and Pranayam can alter even one's genes for good; the whole world will approach Yoga as a scientific process. So, studying what you call "Hindu religion" is nothing but literature review for further research and exploration, and approaching spirituality.
