Are They 1 Person Birds? #conureparrot #quakerparrot
Conure parrots and Quaker parrots share affectionate and loving traits, though exceptions exist within their personalities. Conures can often become one-person birds, forming a deep bond with just one individual. However, to counter this tendency, having a pair of conures can be beneficial. With two conures, they keep each other company while allowing two people to bond with each bird, fostering multiple relationships within the flock.
In contrast, Quaker parrots tend to be more communal and are known for their ability to bond with multiple individuals. They show affection to various family members or caregivers, embracing a more inclusive social dynamic.
When considering parrot acquisition, opting for a weaned baby instead of one that requires feeding is advisable. Weaned babies allow you to focus primarily on bonding rather than navigating the complexities of feeding routines. Additionally, it's essential to note that parrots go through hormonal cycles annually as adults, akin to human hormonal changes. While there's no "post-hormonal" phase until they can no longer reproduce in their older age, these cycles tend to ease with time, similar to the way hormonal changes lessen in humans.

In comparison to big channels you have less audience but I really appreciate your contents . Love from India . I have one pearly conure.

I always enjoy seeing Blue in your videos. We would love to have a Quaker, but unfortunately Quakers are the one parrot special that is outlawed in the state of California. This was a good topic. I agree with you that just after a parrot is weened is the perfect time to adopt them. Yes they may go through that "bluffing" stage which can be challenging, but the bond you make with you bird will be so much better. We were very fortunate with our Green Cheek that she ended up bonding with all four members of our family. She was particularly close with my daughter and I, but she also made a point of spending time with my wife and my son. It was important for her to keep tabs on the entire flock, as it were. I think it would have been hard on us if she had bonded with only one of us. Again, great video. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.

Thank you so much for your post! I appreciate your taking the time-- Yes, Quakers are outlawed in several states, though I do't know which ones. They become a "pest" and take over. I'm glad to hear that you and your family have done so well with your GCC- and that she bonds with everyone. Most of ours do too, although River clearly chooses my daughter every time! Side note- Blue is ALWAYS on me! I try to keep him out of videos because I feel like he will be in EVERY video if I'm not careful! LOL Happy holidays! And thanks for watching!

I agree about the GCC's, they don't like me..they won't tell me why.l, but I can respect that and I stay back. My quaker however, is a one person bird. He loves me, won't go to anyone else and tries to bite anyone who takes him off me. He wasn't like that for his previous owners. He liked both the husband and wife but they worked too much to be able to spend time with him. I don't encourage his one person focus and try to get him socialized with others. My husband doesn’t like him because he bites him.

It could be that losing his preavious bonded family is why he is a one-person bird with you- your Quaker is lucky to have you!

GGC are flock parrots. They will hate other people if they do not spend lots of time with them. My GCC gets mad and blames my mom and sister for being too busy and so he will attack them until they less busy. Keep giving your GCC treats and spend more time with them.

My adopted GCC wont let me pet him on my shoulder only when he preens on his cage.

Very interesting. 2 of my male Caiques are only interested in me as their friend. They don’t attack or try to bite my husband, they just fly off. They do all that they can to avoid him. It’s interesting that they will take treats from him but it’s always “no touchy”.😂
