3rd gen groups are still active because they have the most established as well as the biggest fanbases. Army, Blinks, Onces, Exols are there and they won't stop supporting their faves at least for the next few years. 4th gen on the other hand don't have that supportive fans. If something more fresh appear, they will change fandoms, plus they spend more time participating in fan wars than streaming their faves music. Plus, 4th gen stans are mostly below the age of 14, meaning they need their parents's money to buy albums, tickets, merchandise while 3th gen stans mostly are around the age of 18, even 20.

I don't think small labels need survival shows to get noticed. They need to get creative. The big companies can do the normal promotional process and be successful but the smaller companies don't have the resources to compete like that. They have to be creative but these smaller companies seem hesitant to take risks. Just look at biggest groups from the last 2 generations of kpop. Bigbang and BTS. YG couldn't compete with SMs army of songwriters, assembly line like release schedule and top tier development programs. They couldn't compete with JYPs connections, name recognition and production genuis but they got creative. They gave their idols lessons to increase the number of producers and songwriters in house and helped nourish their skills by giving them freedom to make music. They started putting out mini albums to keep up with the SMs releases without sacrificing them quality of the songs and they incorporated hip-hop which was rare in Asia at the time. All of that came together with BigBang. That YG culture produced a group that didn't need much except for marketing from YG. They can handle everything else themselves and had the freedom to experiment. It worked out because the 3rd generation of kpop is mostly the industry trying to recreate BigBang's success. Turning YG from a small hip-hop label into one of the big 3. BTS started as just another group trying to recreate BigBang's success in a ocean of groups trying to recreate BigBang's success from a small group. They couldn't compete with the big 3 in Korea so they didn't. They had to be creative so they stopped trying to break into the korean market and instead focused on the growing international market. While everyone was trying to win music shows BiG Hit was using social media to connect directly with fans overseas. It payed off big time. Big Hit turned BTSs success into becoming an multi national entertainment conglomerate that's probably going to dominate the world one day. All praise to our HYBE overlords. All it takes is one good idea to turn the entire industry on its head.

Nah. Even if their songs and concepts are good, fans don't stick to the debut because they aren't from.big comoanies. I remember WooAhh's debut. The badabadabing line was equally addictive to Sana's shy shy shy. They also had good raps and vocals but it didn't stick. Seventeen's Adore U also took months before it really got acclaim, this from a mid company as an indeoendent Pledis. There's also Rescene's Uhuh. Compare that with mid songs like Black Mamba, Batter Up, or Unforgiven... If small companies successfully tick a niche that fans like, they're lucky. Exe: Dreamcatcher, Young Possé, Everglow, Fifty/Fifty. However, maybe the amount of money used for marketing could play a part. If not, maybe word of mouth or curiosity because of the brand (i.e.) the company name? Example for this is New Jeans. Despite the lack of promotions, they caught on because people were curious about Hybe's new girl group. If the companies are successful with playing their cards, they can achieve BigBang/BTS success. The way I see it, maybe Ateez can. But they need to have extreme effort and lots of luck to achieve that. I don't know if 5th gen fans still has that type of power that give a Bigbang and BTS type of meteoric rise.

  • @melodyShaffronICHILLIN_fan

There are many smaller companies that give their groups creative concepts, but that won't give them much attention even with promotions. DXMON, NOMAD, Primrose, and POW have creative concepts and promotions. Plus, it's harder than the past for smaller companies to make the groups big when bigger companies debut so many groups. With the limited resources you metioned, some small companies can't just take risk if it ends up failing. Plus, I think BTS has made a lot of success from many factors and one of them is their collaborations with Western artists.

I love seing Sohee appreciation :)) i love Sohee so much he is so cute and talented the fact that he is the best vocalist and also one of the best dancer of the group he even had rap parts here and there and he nails it. I also find that his social skills is the best in the group, it seems like he wins everyone’s heart. To me Sohee is really good at everything. It just annoys me that most fans don't give him the time of day since he doesn't look like...... Like it's 2024, didn't we learn to love talent instead of people's looks. In my opinion, he looks great just like San of ATEEZ, if only people would just LISTEN instead of look. 6. okay I get the idea you don't know AESPA discography. Not all AESPA songs are sci-fi future cybertron and core KWANGYA. Ever since their first mini album, AESPA has explored a lot of themes. Their B-sides are more tame and sonically pleasing. Live My Life is the same. So was Better Things and Life's Too Short (which you panned to death 🙂) These songs are typical AESPA B-sides. I suggest you listen to BAHAMAS which I think should've been the one with the MV. Plus the entire concept of the full album, Armageddon, is introducing different universes hence all songs are quite different from each other.

It wasn't even showing exactly what Armageddon is supposed to entail. Armageddon is the final battle between good and evil, but the girls were just moving around in different outfits and shots. 5&7. Heavy on "it's part of the gig" notice how every group you named are also the most internationally marketed it's because they were able to catch on to the best way to diversify for EACH of there audiences not just with those individual tours but, like you said, with how each member has been able to have a dedicated "other side" for one group while NOT alienating the other. And that does well in aiding the whole groups longevity. Fans constantly feel invigorated, never bored while only anticipating all there endeavors OUTSIDE of even music.
