Control your guard pass like Khabib: Butterfly guard pressure pass

Спорт

Legion Jiu Jitsu's newest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Professor Eddie, shows us how he maximizes control while passing butterfly guard. This similar situation can occur while trying to finish a takedown as well. Notice how he controls the legs, then using the Gi and belt to control his partner's hips throughout the pass. Let us know what you think about this technique in the comments and of course please SHARE & SUBSCRIBE to our Legion Jiu Jitsu Channel! #bjj #guardpass #legionjj #checkmatbjj #khabib

That position came from old school Jiujitsu Carlson Gracie...Paulo filho did it always in his fights on PRIDE

Yes. Shinya Aoki, brock lesnar and other fighters were successfully using such techniques like inside wrist control, leg immobilisation using your feet, before dagestani fighters in ufc...

This move can be easily defended. Catch wrestling alliance has a great video on this.

For those interested, this is the video he is referencing: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5Z-u6iEaK-_lJc.html The defense shown is actually just an escape from the position, an escape to turtle - not exactly a dominant position, but whatever. It looks alright, but it depends on your breaking the grip discussed around 2:20 om this video. With a tight grip, pinched knees, and elevated hips, the setup for this pass is not countered by the escape shown. Hypothetically, you could roll to turtle during that moments that you're getting passed, but imo that's really a trade-off more than a proper defense. In practice, there is a good chance that a solid opponent will take advantage of your scramble to take your back, leaving you worse-off than you'd be in side control. I think the pass in the video is solid, and is not at all rebutted by the escape.

@@weisey100 I think this is what he is referring to: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5Z-u6iEaK-_lJc.html I am not the biggest fan of the linked technique.

This is my game, the guys that give me the most trouble are the ones that frame against my head or shoulder with both of their hands, and scoot their butt back away from me. I can follow, but as soon as they get their hips far enough that I lose my hand on the back of their hips, they're able to scoot a little further and recover guard or throw up a triangle. It's an especially effective defense in no-gi after a couple of rounds, when you're both so sweaty that it's hard for me to generate the friction necessary to keep him from scooting back
