That's honestly so true. Its cazy, but that's how people are. Shoot, I even know how dangerous the virus was but I try to pretend nothing was wrong. It in the western side of America, that's far from here. Ok, it's now in some parts northern but that's still far. It's in my state but that's not "that" close. Suddenly it's in my county, my college is closed and I don't work. So while you do have a point, I do wish that our government took it little more seriously then the general public. Sucks but that's reality.

If we talk about dangerous and deadly pandemics, it's not the question IF. It's the question WHEN. It's good that coronavirus happened, because it's comparably mild and weak virus, however, it serves as a good kick in the ass and a reminder that we should not underfund and fire people who are working on prevention of such things, like it was happening recently before covid-19, as well as neglect our hygiene. Maybe covid-19 will teach us a lesson, so when a new, much deadlier disease will appear, and it will, we will be more prepared.

The problem with people is that they don't care about hygiene, which is a huge, huge factor in disease control. During this pandemic people were STILL putting their mouths on water fountains at my local markets, forcing the staff to make the fountains unusable and off limits. Going into the bathrooms, plenty of people still don't wash their hands and go about with urine soaked fingers like it's normal.

A lot of people dont both to take anything seriously when it comes to controlling spread either. I see tons of people in random locations going about their days like normal and not following the 6 foot social distancing. Hell before the beaches closed hundreds of people were going out for spring break getting wasted and partying. The human race is at this point just doomed to die off to some kind of disease at some point. We as a species just dont care enough to put in an effort to survive.

@Patrick Sheehan arguably it's because diseases are too abstract for people's survival instincts to kick in, unless there's visibly horrifically diseased bodies lumbering about the concept just is not going to trigger the same response as say a dangerous wild animal showing aggression towards them. If I'm remembering correctly there's actually a few cases of this being shown with for example certain native African tribes/civilisations had no fear of the British military's firearms and charged even when people were dropping dead around them but the moment the Brits fixed bayonets is when they started to panic. Modern example would be the British troops in Afghanistan making a last stand fixing bayonets and charging out of cover after a heated skirmish with a bunch of terrorists ended up with them running out of ammo, the enemies surrendered well before they had six inch steel in their guts because that's a far more visible danger than the abstract thought of suddenly being killed by a bullet they can't even see.

People not washing their hands at store bathrooms, especially groceries, fucking disgusts me so bad. This was before COVID-19. But seeing that shit amazes me how dirty people can be. In a related issue, this is also why when buying groceries I get the items below/behind the front facing products. Not really guaranteed to be any cleaner but it helps, also when I get home I clean the product appropriately before using it or placing it in the pantry/fridge.

I loved this film when it was released I remember having conversations with my friends about it and them saying it's only a movie. I was like ummm they used pandemic scientists to help write the script. It's what would happen if something like that did break out. Now we are all stuck at home while they work out a way to stop it spreading. I live in Australia and the number is starting to drop of infected cases which is a good sign. I've been at home for weeks now due to the nature of my job. Working with immuno suppressed disabled people so I have to be sickness free at all times. It's crazy how right they got it.

@@karlbaxter3350 oh i think you misunderstood. i was not comparing mev-1 to covid19. I was comparing to how deseases are created and spread in general. Either way, the incubation period is the time between infection and showing symptoms. So the incubation period of covid is quite long (1-3 weeks). For example, the incubation period of the flu is usually around 3 to 5 days after initial infection, ad for rabies its 6 weeks to 4 months! One of the biggest problems with covid is that it has a long incubation period (so its hard to suspect that you might have it) and, like you said, it is contagious even before the incubation period ends. The character Dr Erin Mears woke up with the symptoms of the flu in the morning- immediately informed her boss and self isolated in her room- she made calls to try and contain those who may have had contact with her, it’s unfair to say that she wasn’t careful and caused more issues - I thought it would be more interesting the fact that she was only eating packaged foods and her boss told her to eat a proper meal - which she got at the hotel and the very next morning she was sick. If anything he boss let her down.

Truly an amazing movie, as well as a sobering one. Being immunocompromised as well as having several chronic illnesses going out and coming into contact with those who are still not taking this pandemic seriously would be a death sentence. Not metaphorically speaking, not an exaggeration but truly; it would not be a question of if I would die but a question of when. I've been on complete lock down for almost 2 months now. A strict no in or out, my husband has been locked down with me just as long, he had to request permission for it otherwise we wouldn't be able to stay in the same home if he had to go out every day. It's truly frustrating to see so many people in the world and especially in the United states who are refusing to take this situation seriously. I had to go out once in these 2 months because a neccessary medication I take could not be picked up by anyone other then myself with an ID required(which we're trying to circumvent the need for me to pick it up and have permission for my husband to pick it up for me) and I had a woman who was coughing and sneezing with out covering her mouth or taking any kind of precautions standing an inch if that behind me. I had a full blown panic attack and begged her to move back and give me space. She got very angry, scoffed at me and then begin yelling in my face about being a sheep, stupid, overreacting, calling it a hoax and brought up trump. I panicked and ran out without even getting my meds. Started whipeing everything down with Clorox wipes, put the clothes I was wearing straight into the washing machine and took a shower right after. I was terrified, still am of getting sick and dying all because one woman decided that her personal beliefs are more important then my whole life.

So I guess I'll loose weight and live on medical grade protein shakes for as long as I can. We're trying to see if we can find a way to circumvent the rule of which I have to pick it up and be able to have my husband having permission to do it for me.

It's accurate because they did their home work when the H1N1 virus was spreading, they were able to get first hand notes from the CDC and WHO after that.

This movie is predictive programming. The reason covid is so similar is because the plandemic is also going to a script. Covid has NEVER been proven to be real. This is biblical prophecy playing out.

I watched contagion with my family around a couple months into quarantine. I loved it due to how much I could relate to it. (While covid isn't as bad as the one in the movie I could still see parallels)
