It’s a broken system that sets businesses up to fail. People do what they gotta do to survive and hope nothing really bad happens before they can get out.

Company here in little Canada (EcoRoofing) lost all of its project managers since they were fucking over their project managers!!!

Most of my work is done with W-2 employees on paytoll with either salaries through 3-5 months of no work in winter OR unlimited overtime during season. Also a nice Gold tier health plan. Any subcontractor we use is required to show proof of GL and WC insurance in addition to proper W9 tax forms. We enforce a harness at all times policy, especially on anything tall or steep. Do it right and these things are not issues.

I agree

All of our employees, including crew and salespeople, are W2 employees. We classify each one correctly for the work that they do. We pay through the nose for the crew. I am 100% anti union and I don’t think unions are the solution, but there is a legitimate argument to be made here. I think we lose all the time on price to roofers that are cheating with work comp and how they classify people on their team.

Union is just trying to get more work, they cannot compete, not because their salaries but because they are unproductive lazy people. Business owners need support, we create opportunities and provide work. Why they don’t pis off against project owners to rise their expenses?
