Was that race only for the Mk 1 or doesn't anybody race the Mk 2?

They are the best looking car, Mk1, that Ford ever built, although I did love the Zakspeed Capri.

It's the Jim Clark trophy, Clark being very well known for his MK I Lotus Cortina racing. Hence the field of MK I's.
Only a Million times better than F1.

Not F1 before the techies in the pits took over all control of the cars, and all the front seat passenger does now is to steer the things around the corner. Do you remember the way that Bruce McLaren drove in the 1968 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch? First time out in his new M7A, pole position at the record time, then, of 1:30 dead, and then a flag to flag victory. That was driving a car. And not forgetting his win in the Belgian GP, making him only the 2nd driver, ever, to win a GP in a car with his own name on it. Jack Brabham was the other one. Although Dan Gurney won a GP in his own car, and the Yanks claim he was the third, the car was not called a Gurney, it was an EAGLE, which Dan Gurney doesn't have for any of his names.

Fact!
You can take your modern F1 racing and stuff it. This is real old-school racing. I used to go to Limerock and watch the early Trans Am Series racing and the under 3 liter class had Porsches, Alfas, BMWs and Cortinas and it was such great racing to watch.
I raced 10 years in Italy with a Lotus Cortina. Fantastic car, simply amazing. I had outstanding fun and memories: For sure the best racing car I ever drove. Lotus Cortina for ever❤
My dad had one of these when I was a kid he cried when he had to sell it and never stopped talking about it until he died. I love these cars one of a kind absolute brilliant 😊

Probably 5 times as many racing as left the factory.
Wow never seen so many cortinas 😎👍🏁
@1:07 That is the best in-car view I've seen in a long time. Awesome camera placement. I also like watching those inside front wheels lift off the ground in some of those corners. Big fun racing . . . ✌😎
What fun, a grid full of angry Cortinas, brilliant driving skills and such close racing all down the field. Thanks
I love the Cortina! I lost the opportunity to buy a 4 door ‘63 example here in Uruguay, it was in immaculate condition, i think it was a 1.2 liters and column shifter but great car. I will always regret that. Owner was asking 4500 USD.
Loved every minute of this. I didn't think I would, but as soon as it started I knew it was going to be a special race. I really need to see this in person.
Takes me back to the early 80s taking my Mk1 Lotus Cortina round Goodwood at a LCR meet.Still own the beast!!. Rog.
The guys in the blue Cortinas never got the email about livery…
I'm so thankful that they created a Cortina Cup "as it were" ...
Excellent racing!
It was great 50 yrs ago when they raced and 10 times better now. Proper touring car racing. No radios no hi tech stuff or banger racing. Touring cars at there very best.
Congratulations
love these races
I wait all year for these races, will done...

I think that's why they call Gordon Shedden 'Flash'. 5th to 3rd with a couple of corners left in the race, and started the last lap around 3 seconds behind 3rd place.

Omg that gearbox!!!!
Would love to see mkII’s doing the same.
I had a Mark One Lotus Cortina back in 1963, the very best Ford I ever had. To have a race containing only these amazing cars is great, not being interfered with by the trucks the Americans produce.

@@paulcaswell2813 And?? You were never at Brands Hatch to see Jim Clark take every corner on three wheels in his Lotus Cortina. The money was with the big Yankee trash land yachts with their truck engines of over 4.5 litres and up to 7 litres. Yanks have never made a 2 litre engine that competed worldwide. Yankeeland is trash.

I love to see Cortinas mixing it up and doing well against bigger faster cars. This was a great race though. Really skinny tires
Anyone know the power output of these Cortina's? My pre crossflow 1500 was about 110/120 with webbers, porting and manifolds...
If only races for german DRM could be as exciting as here the Cortinas visitors would be great to join Hockenheim or Nürburgring....🙂
Fun listening to Alex. Carbon copy of his dads voice. Commentary team are absolutely fantastic and really know their stuff. So entertaining!
I've never seen so many Corrina's 😳
What’s the top speed of these on the straights?
what tyres do they run ???
First, Formula 1 could take some pointers...second, Goodwood is amazingly entertaining, and third, I want a Cortina so bad...
Hey not talking about the JR. Drivers is wrong. Those kids are great!!! C'mon; those boys are the best !!!
All those Ford Cortinas and one Citroen CV2 in it. Wow that CV2 gave the Cortinas a run for their money.
How many Cortinas is too many Cortinas? I dont know, but I do know that we could still have more.
Other than a handful of occasions, has F1 ever been this exciting?

Are they all built to a certain regulation?
new rule: maximum of 1 millisecond of front on shots per lap
Darn insulting adverts
Jordan could have slowed down by half a second a lap so the amateur behind could have had a bit more of a learning session. Is it in the braking where the pros gain the extra time? I go on track a lot in my MX5 - another 4 cylinder twin cam engine with rwd and deliberately only use narrow 195 tyres and very stiff suspension. I'll bet there'd be even more fun to be had with crossplies, which these cars are presumably on?

They will be on the best (probably control) tyre available. You won't see many wheels in the air when the tyres are doing most of the work, and helping ordinary drivers look better than they are.

One make classic car racing never happened 50 years ago so it's a shame it's now on. The great spectacle of seeing a variety of same period cars racing each other is completely diminished by one make series.
