I can't believe I practically watched every minute of this 3 parter.

Hey Zakh, it was fun to watch you completing this map after such a long time. And it was even more fun, because we both forgot stuff about this map. One year after creating this, I can't remember, what I did and why. And you g et completely confused with reconquered 😁 with the plazas for example. BUT you could have mined gold! 1:16:37 . In your first part, you did actually have a look into raw materials and there are gold mines 😛 q quick look into the building menu could have made you a bit of money on the side.

Please don't stop with Caesar 3 or 4. Keep it coming Zakh :)

Worth the wait for part 3! I know you have to make your sponsored stuff... but until we have a Caesar V that looks better than Caesar IV and plays as well as Caesar III (unlikely, yes!), these new super hard Augustus maps and their run throughs will always entice one in!

A QOL feature that would be nice (not sure if possible) would be hot keys for the different Armies, OR a single hotkey to cycle through them. That way you don't need to keep scrolling across the map to each of the different army and back to their destination... Maybe there could also be a toggle or option for jump to army or stay at current map position while selecting each armies.

Great vid as always, I really enjoy watching you play (and play myself) this wonderful game. I can't, however, understand that message around one hour : a new emperor elected. Caesar wasn't an emepror, a dictator at most ^^ the Emperorship was something new, thanks to Augustus. Keep them coming Zakh, really great content, as usual !

Playing with global working force trims the struggle and problem solving of maps substantially. Augustus made it unattainable to have production area with tents only, as they will result in massive angry mobs that will ruin your whole city (even just one angry tent will unleash a massive army that cripples your infrastructure. It is much more enjoyable to get immersed in the puzzle element of figuring out how to make all production areas be adjacent to houses, and then develop all these production houses to at least small casa's. I believe zakh will find it more challenging and entertaining if he took that route with these special maps.

Global employment and higher retirement age makes it easier yes. Levies makes it exponentially harder. Feeding troops makes it harder. Sentiment makes it harder. New sickness makes it harder. No forums for taxes and taxes upsetting people twice as much makes it harder. New style of natural map design makes it harder. Many buildings now being monuments makes it super hard, colosseum is now exorbitantly expensive. Everyone always mentions the couple things that makes the game easier now, like anything that makes the game easier is bad. But then the many many things that makes the game harder is ignored. It always seems like people think anything that makes the game easier is inherently bad while anything that makes the game harder is inherently good. I don't think that's the case.

35:38 _"No plazas"_ There are plazas on the block south of the block you're currentluy working on. And at 33:59 you can see "plaza" in the list of decorations that you can place.

It's a shawl from Uniqlo and my wife gave it to me because it's cold. It's like 8C.

I wonder if you had to look around your city for a few minutes to remember how everything is functioning, I always have to do that when I haven't loaded a save for weeks. Its funny how often I end up spotting some major flaws in my city when I return to it like that.

They can technically do anything with the open source code. Not sure what the new unit is, I tend to just discover what they've done when I update haha.

​@@GamerZakh It's the infantry auxiliary, they function similar to Legionaries, and have the square formation when academy trained, and are much faster than Legionaries too. Not sure if the Infantry auxiliary is as good for distant battles though

Caesar 3 is the favourite. Comparing vanilla, Pharaoh is the 'better' game objectively. But with Augustus it's more even. The bugs and imbalance in Pharaoh are big points holding it back.

@@NecroxProduction I'd rank Emperor 3rd, higher than Zeus. It would be even higher but the major bugs and weird military make it messy. Catapults are just fully broken, yours can't shoot while enemy catapults are machine guns. Your troops can't cross water while enemy troops just sail across. And you can't tell your troops to hold position, they will always move if the enemy comes close and it makes it impossible to micro or retreat units effectively. Besides military, it's a great game if you keep those in mind and like with Pharaoh I would recommend playing on just Hard or Normal difficulty for a balanced experience.

Is there any reason why there’s a section of large casa that was never upgraded to insulae? The furniture is right there…

That block doesn't have enough food. Evolving the houses would mean the population goes up and I'd have to delete houses to make sure there aren't tents there, so it's a thing and I didn't wanna deal with that because I didn't need to deal with that.

Actually taxes back then were property taxes, not income taxes. So 25% is huge. Imagine having to give 25% of everything you own each year to the city you live in. 😂 You basically force them to be the worst employers, squeezing every single nugget out of their slaves and work force.
