Most underrated film of all times with one of the best soundtracks in history. This is Tom Cruise's best performance and the film is a magnificent mix of genres. I get emotional everytime I see this scene. "Consequences, David" if he had never got into that car... Is a little thing that changed everything. This film makes me think about things that could have been and what I could have done. Masterpiece by Mr Cameron Crowe.

I even think that penelope cruz are doing a much better acting performance in the original than the Hollywood version.

Such an amazing and underrated movie. It covers the simplicity and the complexity of life. The love, the lust, the pleasure, the pain, the narcissism, the selflessness, the selfishness, the vanity, the greed, and so much more. I think a lot of people are missing that this isn’t really a love story. Sophia was only real for a few days of his real life. They had a strong magnetic connection and he was so drawn to her and she made him feel alive, but she also rejected him when she saw his new damaged face. It shows how we humans sadly are very looks-based. If they had been together longer, she likely would have stayed with him, but who knows? He couldn’t take the rejection, and he was also very aware of how we humans judge so much on looks and this made him suicidal and he took his own life. He only put her in the dream because he wanted it to work so badly with her. He was in lust, but not love. This movie makes you think about so many things about life and us humans. There’s so much pleasure in life but also so much pain. But as they said, “the sweet isn’t as sweet without the sour.” Beautiful movie.

I watched this tonight (again) and I just came to the conclusion after seeing it probably for the 15th+ time that she rejected him because of the person he became after his accident; he wasn’t the same person anymore- I personally feel like she could’ve gotten over his disfigurement because she did love him.

@@CEE80 You are exactly correct. The OP was wrong in saying that she was "looks" oriented. she was not. She was soured by the idiot he became after his accident. It was him that had a vanity problem. You reap what you sow.

David became so obssessed of his new situation with his disfigured face and without rlly realizing it, the accident has become the center and focus of his life which shouldn't be. Sofia saw this at him. Among everyone, we know David is the only one who can truly help himself get pass the tragedy he has been. But it seems like David gave up not just on everyone around him including Sofia, but to himself as well which led him to total shut down depression and eventually ended the suffering through letting go of his reality. I cannot blame characters for what they have done and didn't do; it's so much harder in real life and i think the movie was beinf realistic as much as possible. I just know for sure, it rlly seemed like true love was the first time they met. if this is not a lovestory then fine maybe that right, but you can't deny that one of the greates aspects of the film is love itself.
