the smallest decision and act of mis-judgement changes your entire life forever - and there will be no going back. This concept really got me pondering on how profound and scary that is, and this film portrays that idea in such a poetically solemn way. Masterpiece

It is scary. Personally I could’ve easily ended up with another woman instead of my eventual wife, if I had made a single decision differently. The other woman went on to get married and have 3 kids, and I did the same. Freaky to think about that one choice changing and none of those 6 kids are born…🤯 And not just that, but stuff like, if the power had gone out and delayed me, or a traffic jam, or any little thing, and I don’t meet my eventual wife.

Friendship is the path - it's the kiss of death! This scene is funny because he just can't say anything right. Asking to go to her place to talk it out, I don't she has a place so further stress. Finally saying that lie that he loves her just seals his fate, that's all she needs to hear. His complete ignorance of her feelings and instability, in part because of people like him. Brian didn't help the situation with that terrible terrible term. David should of pulled the hand brake and jumped on the brakes. Might get scratched like a cat but better than the face-plant.

Kale P. David thought a kind gesture of getting into her car, to make her feel better, wouldn't make any difference. I think that he was in love with Sophia, very happy and optimistic, clouded his judgement. He didn't realize Julia was crazy before it was too late.

Yes, maybe that was his motivation for entering the car, though Julia was his fuck-buddy. What he didn't expect was the argument she started. I seemed like there was nothing he could say to calm her down, it would probably turn out this way no matter what he said to her. She was suicidal, hysterical, paranoid and crazy. Maybe David had a crush on Sophia, but he was also a bit horny and inpatient, so why not fuck Julia while waiting? He got to know "why not" when it was too late. R.I.P David Aames!

This feels even sadder than the original. Here, David actually tried to prevent the accident but Julie's egoism turned the wheel even harder to the wrong direction, resulting in the accident. In the original, Cesar was just watching the car slowly descenting the hill and hitting the wall and did nothing to prevent it.

Everyone calling Julie crazy in the comments clearly miss one of the (less obvious) points of this great movie: the people you interact with in your day-to-day life are just that, people. They have feelings and fragilities and emotional needs. Sure, they may have had an “agreement” to keep it casual, but if you watch the movie carefully you can tell that David purposefully ignores her signals to let him know she wants the relationship to be more serious, in the hopes she will give up on her feelings for him. His punishment is indeed harsh, but he is not without guilt. And Julie is not just some madwoman, she is a fragile human being that has been toyed with and her chain has been yanked a little to hard.

Unplugged Edits Having emotional needs dosen't give you the right to physically hurt someone. She should of walked away the moment it became clear David did not want her in the way she'd hoped for. So it is fair to call her what she was, a nut. When you decide to commit her despicable act (murder suicide), I think your humanity is completely gone.

@@geofreyr I know that I’m a year late to your comment but “crazy” is a broad term. My diagnosis of her is she has severe BPD, Obsessive personality disorder & major depression. Maybe she did this out of vengeance but I don’t think that’s the base of her action. She was obsessed. She just wanted to secure him in life & clearly in death as well. That’s why she asked if he believed in God. She wanted reassurance they’ll be together in the afterlife. If she had a therapist, they probably would’ve found more underlying disturbed mental traits but nonetheless in layman’s terms, she is in fact….”crazy” but medical professionals like myself would refer to her as ill or very mentally disturbed.

When she started pouring out all her emotions to him, i was damn - it was reslly like if i cant have you, no one will He was just going with the flow, maybe she had been honest about how she felt sooner, but he probably would have ended it cause he never felt that way
