Why no Unleash!!!!! ????? I know it's only 8 songs, but so is Brand New Maid. It's also my favorite.

My phone would explode 😆 The video was already too heavy for the phone, I had to sacrifice Unleash 😢 (my favorite song is Corallium) (All videos on the channel are produced and edited using just a phone, sorry)

Their strength is the wide variety of their works. I was able to experience genres of music that I had no interest in before, and I realized that it was surprisingly good. That's why I never get bored. Bands like this are rare. I feel in Japan musicians don't care about genres so much. Musicians just do what they like, and they always find the audience who would love what they do. It's interesting that DocLoco was speaking about "commercial thoughts." I think BAND-MAID understands now that they have enough paying fans who would keep paying no matter which direction the band decides to move. Why would Unseen World be commercially unsuccessful? Because it's too heavy? But BAND-MAID already understood, at the time of Thrill, that light sound would not make them successfull. To be one of the million toothless poppy bands whose only purpose is not to disturb you? Well, it's a tough competition. They position themselves as "impossibly hard-rocking band," and "Unseen World" is proving that they are worthy to be in that league of masters. People don't come to BAND-MAID for sweet light pop, BAND-MAID is known to be a heavy band. That's where their commercial success lies. "Unleash" confirmed that direction, and I hope the next album will stay on that course. Although "At the drop of a hat" always gives me chills when I hear it. Saiki's voice is just magical there.

Band-Maid is ever evolving and only getting better with time, like a fine wine!

There are simply no bad songs or albums from Band Maid. I love the early albums. I loved Conquerer. Unseen World was the first album I needed to play a few times before losing myself and acclimatising to the constant battering of sound. But the constant change while keeping the familiarity with the overall concept and sound has served them well. After ten years and so many great songs many bands want a rest. With Band Maid they have managed to keep things fresh and we still look forward to whatever they come up with next. Thanks for the roundup and review.

They all just recently turned 30, they are still pretty young. And they take care of their health. They never used drugs, so, they are still young in body and spirit, and have a lot of energy. I hope they will keep playing energetic music for at least 10 more years!

Venus Gaijin, Again thank you for another amazing video about Band Maid. I consider them my favorite band in the world. They have shown their creativity and versatility throughout their 10 years together. People try to pigeon-hole Band Maid into one type of rock genre. Can't be done. Kanami can bend any rock genre to her will. Often in one song. Amazing.

Wow..I had to sit back and really digest this video. In the early days I listened to Band-Maid alone and didnt even know if anyone outside of Japan even knew or cared about this band. Over the years their presence on KZread and their overall popularity just kept growing and growinggg...you just kinda showed the main reasons why😊👍..part of why I love BM is because I see the striving, the hunger, the KAIZEN! Continuous improvement. They are a real inspiration...and they're absolutely adorable too!!🥰 Great vid!

This band is simply ultra consistent … great song after great song.. which makes for great albums … icing on the cake… great live performers and individuals … if anything, I’m really underselling them!… they’re better then great.

Very nice summary. Band Maid makes it easy by having a clear idea for each album, even Conqueror. I bet that Kanami had the kernel of all those songs already in her data base. She simply pulls out those that fits their intent for that album, and fleshes it out. How else do you put out a great album almost yearly?

Yes, she still releases a new demo every week, I think. This makes at least 50 riffs in a year. And then Kanami makes 15 songs out of them, and 5 intros for the existing songs which they play at OKYUJIs.

Just Bring it is my favorite. 4 of my top ten are all from it. But then sometime it changs with my mood lol. There's a Band-Maid song and album for all occations!

Hey VG, I thought for sure you would have snuck in YOUTH to that video ! When it comes to best album...I like to think that it hasn't been written yet ! Band Maid never ceases to surprise me . They are still evolving and we can never be sure what direction they will take . That being said...it will be a direction that will leave us shaking our head and asking..." How will they top this ? " They always find a way to astonish us ! ♥️🤯

It's been a wonderful journey watching Band Maid grow musically from where I found them in 2016, from the moment I first heard Thrill, I knew that I had discovered something special, and because of my instant love of Band Maid, it indoctrinated me into many other Japanese rock/metal girl band's, but Band Maid will always be my favorite band of all time, and I'm old and have been around for all of rock since 1960.

I bought Unleash first and its epic!!! And it's hard to believe there's better stuff out there, it's fantastic and I can't wait to enjoy them. It's only been 3 weeks and I have World Domination, Brand New Maid, Just bring it and of course Unleash. I can't get enough of this amazing new world of music. God bless you Maids!!!❤❤❤❤

Nice job, VG! For me, each Band-Maid album, EP, or Single is a new adventure. Band-Maid is all about evolution, a term they use a lot themselves. Lots of new experiments and stylistic variation, but always uniquely Band-Maid. One thing I've learned is that if I don't get it the first time around, I will after a few plays.

Nice video! Count me as one of the fans who considers “Conqueror” their best album. For me it’s their White Album-so many styles, so many moods, all pure B-M, just as the White Album had been for the Beatles.

It's definitely an album where they REALLY started to understand their own style. WORLD DOMINATION is still pretty much following the formula of THRILL. I was thinking, what are those "forgettable songs" on CONQUEROR? PAGE, may be? But PAGE is a great arena song, we already know it. On the album, it was indeed not so prominent, I would say. I did not like it at the beginning. But when I heard it live at Line Cube Shibuya Blu-Ray, I suddenly understood what great potential this song holds. My most favourite songs on CONQUEROR are "Liberal," "At the drop of a hat," "azure", and "flying high." The best song is clearly "flying high," it's amazing from whatever angle you look at it. Although it tends to be forgotten by many fans 'cause it does not have an MV.

⁠@@VladimirChupinIt’s frustrating for me to see how many fans don’t like it when a band stretches themselves. I love all the experiments on “Conqueror.” There are plenty of bands that just do the same thing over and over for decades-AC/DC and KISS both come to mind. That’s fine (I’m a fan of both), but to me the very greatest bands are the ones that are never satisfied, always exploring. The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Band-Maid.

@@c.7610 Well, many people complained concerning CONQUEROR because of fears that BAND-MAID would "go pop." I also had such fear because it was not clear in which direction the band is moving. And pop is not something I can listen to for long. With the release of Unseen World, I was greatly relieved and overjoyed-it's a solid contribution to the world treasure of prog/metal sound. And very experimental at the same time, so, it's also a step forward, something which no band did before. Which is difficult in 21st century-no matter how you experiment, there was always someone who did something similar before. I'm glad that BAND-MAID did not go really crazy about experimenting, it would make music unlistenable. Maybe a curiosity, but not something enjoyable. There are many bands which try to break from the mould, they get some attention, but the product is lacking harmony, and they depart from the Golden Middle. Music must be harmonious, I believe.

I'm listening to my new album World domination and OMG these amazing women play thier hearts and souls out! The intensity is shocking, they are athletes and my God are the talented ❤❤❤

Thanks for that 🤗 A musician I deeply admire is Frank Zappa and I find a lot of commonality between him and B-M, ie creative, fearless, experimental, frustrating, wondrous, genre crossing, innovative, uber talented, difficult and addictive but never ever dull, formulaic or content to churn out product cookie cutter style. B-M are constantly evolving, pushing their boundaries and altering musical directions and while that can alienate some listeners for mine it keeps this wonderous Band fresh and exciting both for the band members and us in the audience. B-M is a musical journey and man o man what a glorious journey it is. Cheers 👍🍻

@@frankandre4385 😂 Wow My friend Billy the Mountain said the same things when we were hanging out at Joe's Garage, he also kept telling me to Sheik Yerbouti for a laugh but I didn't and now I feel like I am the Slime because he's moving to Montana soon. But as Frank said Broken Hearts are for Assholes so I'm gonna head over to Billy's and make him laugh by doing the Regyption Strut. @@brunobryant4846 There is a YT clip of Frank playing a bicycle wheel on an old Tonight Show with Steve Allen . One of the most bizarre pieces of TV I've ever seen...but has all the charm of an old Mother's of Invention album ! Wowie Zowie (One of my boyhood faves).

Well, we already may guess that the new album to be released in the Summer of 2024 will include at least “Protect You,” “Go Easy,” “Brightest Star,” “Magie,” and “Shambles.” “Memorable” may be included as well, we don’t know it yet. Maybe Kanami will compose more ballads. I'm sure it will be a great album, another masterpiece!

Spot on. For me, Just Bring It, Domination, & Conqueror are strong trio of albums. For me, Conqueror is their best album and my personal favorite because of the creative variety, as some of the slower songs; “Endless Story”, “Mirage”, & “Wonderland” are amazing. Although a bit too chaotic and frenetic, Unseen World is very good and has grown on me quite a bit. Although more of a mini album, Unleash is fantastic. My New Years wish for Band Maid is that, despite the language barrier, they can achieve a significant hit song. I would like to see some songs that are more free flowing, that break their traditional 3-4 minute barrier. Since Akane, Kanami, and Misa can also sing, I’d like to see them experiment and incorporate a powerful vocal element, sort of in the same manner that Queen did. Anyway, I look forward to listening to more musical excellence from the Maids in 2024 and beyond !

They're getting better. Their songs became harder and faster.

Unseen World is their hard-hitting masterpiece, but I personally prefer Conqueror most of the time for the variety. Though it is a bit long.. Thank you for your enthusiasm for this awesome band.

Venus Gaijin, thank you for a great video about everyone’s favorite rock stars - Band-Maid! Musicians must continue to grow and explore otherwise they stagnate. I’m willing to bet based on the 10 years we celebrated with Band-Maid the next years, decades, or more 😊 will be an exciting and wonderful journey. I’m sticking with the ladies

My favourite album is Just Bring It, I've always said it and I still say it but not as confidently. Moratorium probably still is my no.1 but other songs from all their other albums have grown on me so much. 😅

Nice video with some good clips but after searching Band-Maid Prime for the white room video of Bye My Tears I was bummed to find it doesn't exist. 😂

Hey VG ! New video idea... It's time to man up and go in a different direction. What Band Maid ( or other Japanese band) has a song that brings you to tears ? Certain lyrics and or chord progressions can do this . They remind us of so many highly emotional times . The tears of loss or longing are not a moment of shame or imperfection. They are emotionally cleansing and help prepare us for the highs AND lows that come in life. Puzzle (acoustic) does this for me. There are SO many...And there are no right or wrong answers .🧐😢♥️

There are too many for me to list. I’m a guy in my 60s and no band’s music has ever hit me so hard emotionally…and they do it again and again and again. Not just with the ballads, either. For me only the Beatles are on their level, and the Beatles were 50+ years ago. I can’t explain my emotionalism about these ladies. There’s just something about them-a joyful spirit and energy to everything they do that moves this tired old man to tears.

@@c.7610 I agree Mr C ! Big Beatles fan since I became aware of them , the year after they broke up ....(I was only 6 in ' 71 ). Band Maid is a gift from the Rock & Roll gods ! Tony Visconti says " Bowie would have loved them ! " Well we know Jimmy Page loves them too ! Let's just be glad we're hear to witness them ! ♥️🤯

Not their best, but personally, I find it the most interesting, and it's the one I listen to the most.

7. Maid in Japan 9. New Beginning 9. Brand New Maid 10. Just Bring It 10. World Domination 9. Conqueror 8. Unseen World 8. Unleash I love maid! I think the first 3 albums had solid favourites with filler. Peak perfection was JBI and WD. Everything after Conqueror is good but often wanders in a strange direction. I hope they bend towards JBi and WD again. Les tinny guitar would help. Less rap. More tears.

Conqueror the Best Album? => For me Band Maiko is the best Album :D , or World Domination if you want a full one.

Love all their stuff, but must confess "world domination" is my favorite. I'd love to see band maid make whole albums a cool thing for all bands again. Not really a fan of singles, it's like 1 bite of prime rib and not the whole steak

Conqueror has a few great songs, Unseen World is a great album through and through.

I like the first phase of Band-Maid. I even like the very first album (Big Dad, Forward). "Just bring it" is my favorite album. The last 3 albums are played too fast and too technical (unmelodic) for my taste. I've lost a bit of interest in the band.

Band-Maid, for me, has no "Best Album"......just like there is no "Best Maid".
