Being 72 years young I can never understand when they talk divas nobody mentions Connie Francis . Back in the early days of Rock n Roll she was the top female voice of music along with Brenda Lee. People need to learn the true history of Rock n Roll

hear that guitar! But too popish to induct her into the R&R Hall of Fame. Such a crying shame.

Tell it to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, of which she has never been voted in despite her many, many hits.
"Where The Boys Are", the theme song from the movie of the same name, is probably the song that Connie is best known for. She also co-starred in the movie.

Where the Boys Are, and Al Di La both showcase her vocal talent!
Connie💖
Connie is another one of the great young lady singers of the late 50's - early 60's. She recorded many of her songs in other languages. And she did the singing voice for some actresses in a few movies. She had a very tragic life (was raped, lost her voice for a few years with complications from surgery, her brother was murdered, suffered from manic depression, married 4 times).
One of her best was Where The Boys Are. You got caught didn’t you 😂
Harry, you brought a smile to my face. This is the music I grew up with. The song was from 1959. In the mid 60s i had the opportunity to meet Connie Francis for several minutes. have to tell you, she was a class act lady. her life's journey is an undeserved and sad saga for someone who brought so much joy to millions thru her singing.
FABULOSA CONNIE.😗❤🇨🇱
Grew up with this music learned all her 🎵songs
Yes Connie was a Super Star in the 50,s and 60,s she had many hit songs she was truly a legend in her own time
She was fabulous! The song was released in 1959.
More Connie please!

One of the true legends in recording and on stage!
What a woman, what a voice, what a life. Forever in my heart!
I was 4 when this song came out. My older sisters listened to all the stars of the time, so I was aware of Connie. "Where the Boys are" is a great song and a complicated coming of age movie. Connie always had a maturity about her that some of her peers didn't have. Thanks Harri for, again, bringing a nice surprise to us!
You just have to adore Connie. She could be sassy or she could be the girl next door. Great vocals from this lovely little lady. I'm glad to have been able to hear her music through my mom, because when I hear it the memories come pouring through. And just to mention she wasn't a bad actress either.
Oy! When I was a wee lad I had such a crush on Connie Francis. Please react to Everybody's Somebody's Fool. Awesome tune. Also Guess My Heart Has a Mind of It's Own. Super fantastic song.
Where The Boys Are! Her absolute best! 🎵🎶❤️
Connie Is another of my favs..
In case you didn't know: Connie Francis was singing a lot of songs in German language, too. She even played in some German movies. A very famous and popular song was "Schöner fremder Mann". If you're interested you can check it out. Btw. the German version of "Lipstick on your collar" was "Lippenstift am Jacket", sung by Conny Froboess.

Wow, that I didn't know. I knew she could sing in English, Italian and Spanish, but never knew she could sing in German, and I've been listening to her since I was a little kid in the early to mid 80s...
I was 8yrs old when this song came out. Catchy tune, fun and danceable.Didn’t take what she was singing about seriously. Not at that age.🤣👏🏽😂
She had an amazing voice!! I have some of her old albums.
Now do another one on hers. IT WOULD STILL BE WORTH IT from 25th January 1960...it will blow your mind. POWER, EMOTION and just a masterpiece.
George Barnes played that fantastic guitar!
Where the boys are is a great song by Connie
Some aficionados would say this song is 'fluff' and inconsequential. Maybe. But, it's fun. And, it's catchy. After all, not every song has to be "Blowin' in the Wind". Co-written by classically trained pianist Neil Sedaka, this recording is noteworthy for the guitar solo by the great George Barnes, the longest in a pop song to that date (1959). That solo influenced many rock guitarists in the coming decades. Connie Francis, it could be argued, deserved much better material in which to showcase her superb singing skills. That would happen in short order. She remains one of the best selling pop singers in history. Although alive and well, sadly, she no longer performs.
Her Italian songs were absolute classics,,,violino tuigano and guitaro romana
One of my fave by her is Where The Boys Are from the movie of the same title. Made other great songs like Everybodys Some body's Fool , Baby's First Christmas, .👍👍💯❤️
Definitely 1960's style beach party music. I always thought Connie Francis was a doll !

I remember a British tv miniseries from the 90s lipstick on your collar stared a young ewan McGregor 50s period story
Takes me back to high school. Much simpler time for sure.
Please react to some of her ballads 🎶🎵 My fave song is her version of a little known song called Al Di La...beautiful
I seem to remember this song from the summer of 1959. I try to remember songs by my year of school. Few of us had record players but everyone had a radio on all the time. It as also hard to imagine the record sales back then because there was little international marketing, and a lot fewer people to buy the songs. A million seller was really a big hit. I love your channel and you sharing your views on the musical memories of my youth. Thank you.
What a great song. I wish it was longer too. Great pick and reaction Harri!

Her version of "My Yiddishe Mama" brings me to tears every time.
Hello Harri, I love how you will listen to every song with such an open mind. I am the same, I just enjoy what sounds good 👌 lipstick on the collar was a way of saying he’s been cheating back in those days so they would not get censored 💋💄

Outstanding, the lead guitarist was the late George Barnes and the drummer was the late Panama Francis(no relation).
Well, Mary Jane did have her lipstick all a mess! :D
My Mom graduated in 1955. She has experienced Rock n Roll from the beginning.
So Harri already has his excuses at hand 😂🤷♀️
Nice reaction; Similar rhythm and beat and possibly same musicians as "At the Hop" by Danny and the Juniors. Great dance record. Shame she is not in the RnRHF.
The old friend excuse might work, but I wouldn't try the someone brushing past you in a crowd one, lol!
Love Connie. Try "Al Di La" by Connie.
LOVE Connie! What a great performer. So much tragedy in her life though. For me she bridged an era between Patti Page and Lesley Gore. I noticed others have said you should sample "Where the Boys Are" her biggest hit. Here she is singing it live, in absolute perfect pitch, to a room full of servicemen. When I saw her perform it, it was in hotel bar by the beach to a roomful of gay men in Provincetown, (changed the whole meaning of the song LOL ). kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoGlrpqHisnHqJM.html

Plenty of time my friend..till end of October 😉
My special favorite of hers is Frankie,, Also older ones like My happiness and My souvenir. Her girl had the shade of lipstick that was on his collar. As you just heard, the shade of lipstick belonged to her best friend!! LOL Are you kidding? Red is red and pink is pink! So if you wear red, but pink is on his collar well, why are you denying this LOL
Who's Sorry Now was written as a skit by the songwriters but Connie and the public took it seriously
Connie had a lovely voice and had many hits. MTV once interviewed a lot of current female singers and asked them who had influenced them. Many of them named Connie Francis. She was huge in her day. This is a great song, but I don't feel it's representative of her work. Her ballads are more central to getting a grip on her talent. People have suggested a number of them. Take your pick.
What I love about this channel is you listen to ALL types of music. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Have you done any Leon Russell?

I've innocently gotten My Lipstick on a couple of Men's Collars over the years. Well I'm a Warm Cuddly Lady. But I only hug Men I'm Related to or who are Practically Family to Me. Or I'm sure won't get the wrong impression. These Men who got My Lipstick on their collars were My Cousin's Husband who I've known ever since I was a Little Girl. The other one was a Man whom along with His Wife view Me as A Little Sister. He is one of My Big Brother's Friends. He and My Brother spent so much time hanging out together when I was a Teenager We started treating Him as Family. He's an only child and We become like Sister and Brother. He Married My Brother's Ex Girlfriend. But They're all still Friends including My Sister-in-law.
In the case of glam Rock it is probably the lipstick the man bought for himself lol
"Everybody's Somebody"s Fool" and "Love Is Me, Love Is You" are probably her other best remembered rocking songs. Happy songs from a fairly tragic life.
@Harri This is 1959. A year earlier she released "Stupid Cupid" kzread.info/dash/bejne/i2eZxs1yqMnVhaw.html It only lasts 2:15 (ish) AND it has an instrumental break.

STUPID CUPID lasts for 2' 10".In the UK the 45 was a bit longer
Harri, you think it's odd to get all hyped up about it, but back then, for a woman to be close enough to a man to leave lipstick meant something. In fact some bold girls would do it on purpose to leave a "staking" claim for the man's girlfriend to see.
hahaha a few shades amongst lovers? hahaha men have no idea, you don't wear lipstick, generally. Women know...lol... a big difference..
The problem, Harri, is that we live in such puritanistic times. We'd be better off having open relationships as the norm, avoiding jealousy and pettiness. Then the girl who saw the lipstick would just say, ok that's cool!
Connie was the number one selling female artist of her era. And, for whatever reason, she can't get a sniff at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What is wrong with the cretins who determine who gets in?

harri U need to learn something here Women can see more colors then mean many more Just look at all the names they have for white I cant tell one form another but women can I read about this a few yr ago. Tested it myself many times by ask a woman what color is this, it being just white to me, everyone of them came up with the right name and I did it with many shades of white. Sometimes the woman would say dont know what that one is called but it is about two shades off the one I just called whatever. Now as for dif between Red and Baby pink. Only a person who is color blind would not see the dif there. Now pink is my fav color in all its shades but baby pink is my fav of all pinks Love it on The Love Of My Life it goes so well with heer strawberry blond e hair and her very white girl complexion
