Being 72 years young I can never understand when they talk divas nobody mentions Connie Francis . Back in the early days of Rock n Roll she was the top female voice of music along with Brenda Lee. People need to learn the true history of Rock n Roll

Connie is another one of the great young lady singers of the late 50's - early 60's. She recorded many of her songs in other languages. And she did the singing voice for some actresses in a few movies. She had a very tragic life (was raped, lost her voice for a few years with complications from surgery, her brother was murdered, suffered from manic depression, married 4 times).

Harry, you brought a smile to my face. This is the music I grew up with. The song was from 1959. In the mid 60s i had the opportunity to meet Connie Francis for several minutes. have to tell you, she was a class act lady. her life's journey is an undeserved and sad saga for someone who brought so much joy to millions thru her singing.

I was 4 when this song came out. My older sisters listened to all the stars of the time, so I was aware of Connie. "Where the Boys are" is a great song and a complicated coming of age movie. Connie always had a maturity about her that some of her peers didn't have. Thanks Harri for, again, bringing a nice surprise to us!

In case you didn't know: Connie Francis was singing a lot of songs in German language, too. She even played in some German movies. A very famous and popular song was "Schöner fremder Mann". If you're interested you can check it out. Btw. the German version of "Lipstick on your collar" was "Lippenstift am Jacket", sung by Conny Froboess.

Some aficionados would say this song is 'fluff' and inconsequential. Maybe. But, it's fun. And, it's catchy. After all, not every song has to be "Blowin' in the Wind". Co-written by classically trained pianist Neil Sedaka, this recording is noteworthy for the guitar solo by the great George Barnes, the longest in a pop song to that date (1959). That solo influenced many rock guitarists in the coming decades. Connie Francis, it could be argued, deserved much better material in which to showcase her superb singing skills. That would happen in short order. She remains one of the best selling pop singers in history. Although alive and well, sadly, she no longer performs.

I seem to remember this song from the summer of 1959. I try to remember songs by my year of school. Few of us had record players but everyone had a radio on all the time. It as also hard to imagine the record sales back then because there was little international marketing, and a lot fewer people to buy the songs. A million seller was really a big hit. I love your channel and you sharing your views on the musical memories of my youth. Thank you.

LOVE Connie! What a great performer. So much tragedy in her life though. For me she bridged an era between Patti Page and Lesley Gore. I noticed others have said you should sample "Where the Boys Are" her biggest hit. Here she is singing it live, in absolute perfect pitch, to a room full of servicemen. When I saw her perform it, it was in hotel bar by the beach to a roomful of gay men in Provincetown, (changed the whole meaning of the song LOL ). kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoGlrpqHisnHqJM.html

Connie had a lovely voice and had many hits. MTV once interviewed a lot of current female singers and asked them who had influenced them. Many of them named Connie Francis. She was huge in her day. This is a great song, but I don't feel it's representative of her work. Her ballads are more central to getting a grip on her talent. People have suggested a number of them. Take your pick.

Or I'm sure won't get the wrong impression. These Men who got My Lipstick on their collars were My Cousin's Husband who I've known ever since I was a Little Girl. The other one was a Man whom along with His Wife view Me as A Little Sister. He is one of My Big Brother's Friends. He and My Brother spent so much time hanging out together when I was a Teenager We started treating Him as Family. He's an only child and We become like Sister and Brother. He Married My Brother's Ex Girlfriend. But They're all still Friends including My Sister-in-law.

harri U need to learn something here Women can see more colors then mean many more Just look at all the names they have for white I cant tell one form another but women can I read about this a few yr ago. Tested it myself many times by ask a woman what color is this, it being just white to me, everyone of them came up with the right name and I did it with many shades of white. Sometimes the woman would say dont know what that one is called but it is about two shades off the one I just called whatever. Now as for dif between Red and Baby pink. Only a person who is color blind would not see the dif there. Now pink is my fav color in all its shades but baby pink is my fav of all pinks Love it on The Love Of My Life it goes so well with heer strawberry blond e hair and her very white girl complexion
