In this episode, we connected our two shipping containers! We started this process by welding angle iron onto each container and then connected 2x6's to them. We still have to bridge the lumber but we can finally walk across the containers! Don't forget to like and SUBSCRIBE so you can follow us on our journey:)

Looking back at this video, and where you guys are now with 2 kids...JUST WOW!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Looking at these old videos and where you guys are now is just crazy. I've seen all your videos from beginning to current but my god just seeing this old one on my feed and re watching it is just nuts. I don't blame ya for almost crying kenzie when you two get little things back like water and power etc.
your up coming grinding chore might be easier with a plasma cutter. Just a thought. Great video! looking forward to following this project.
It’s unbelievable that this was where you were 2 years ago and that the outside of your home is now complete.
I started watching your videos about a week ago and I’m really enjoying to see you guys moving forward at a steady pace. Very inspirational!
I just love the idea and that your wife helps you. ❤️
Its refreshing to see a couple working together and having a good time in the process. Hats off to the lady for being willing AND able, and yes, Spencer is a VERY lucky man. Thanks for sharing your journey.
My husband and I live on a big farm as well and we just discovered y'all. I'm excited to see your finished project. You two seem like the perfect couple. Your great sense of humor and just overall good attitude is enjoyable and entertaining at the same time. Glad we stumbled onto your channel.
I've been watching since the beginning and love seeing the growth. I'm ready for y'all to be done so you can be in complete comfort but I also love seeing all of the devotion and hard work y'all are doing. Good for the soul. Keep it up!

What’s cool is that your kids can watch these vids and see start to finish...they’ll see first hand that if you want something bad enough you can do anything!!! Amazing to watch this unfold✌️
*It does all the graphics one would need to display an idea to a container home lover. **containar.homes** Easy. Effective. Must have. I especially enjoyed the auto-roofing option. It made a long story short, and did it with amazing lines.*

So glad this video got recommend to me ago 2 years. I've been following your beautiful journey since. ♥️
This is one of the most inspiring channels on the tube. Great editing, very interesting content, talented cast. Smooth intros and exits.. post building your brain storm homestead basics. Then a premium UT channel for years to come.. Great place cool people... love it... so smart to build the DYI paradise...soon to be enjoyed...
Omg, I'm loving this I guess I need to talk to my husband Some serious project needs to be done 😉😄

What I would give to have a relationship like that, the simple things in life.
This is the channel I've been looking for, thank you guys.
You should use those walls you cut out, as a lil skirt for your containers. It'll keep the rats out, and keep your containers cooler. Just cut small louvres at the tops of a couple for ventilation.

You two are a joy to watch! Progress in the summer heat. ☀️🌡
I don't know why KZread recommended me this video. Now I'm glad It did. Addicted to this channel. Cheers from Brazil guys!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Good job guys, like, no, love your spirit and enthusiasm ……
Im really glad to see yall having so much fun together. I enjoy seeing your progress. May the Lord bless your mess.:)
I'm a carpenter so I could really pick this apart lol but you guys should have used pressure treated lumber cause the kind you used is going to warp, bend and twist soon. Also make sure to use galvanized screws/nails so they don't rust. Just a few tips,if you have any questions I'll be glad to help
@sfoxall1

It’s not touching the ground. It doesn’t need pressure treated lumber for that use. Also the nails/screws aren’t in the elements they are under the floor. They did fine with this.

Anti-theist she’s not masculine, she’s just cool and normal. I’d much rather be with a funny and naturally attractive woman like her, than a dumb materialistic fake wannabe supermodel bimbo
I have to hand it to you guys..I was getting really depressed because I was working on my backyard project and it seemed like it was never going to happen but watching you guys keep working a long hard road ahead it gives me more motivation to keep trying...thanks
It's so much fun to go back to the early videos and watch y'all. Knowing how beautifully the house turned out, it's even more interesting to see it in its early stages. I can't believe all the changes you've had in your life since you started your journey. You are an inspiration and a testament to hard work and perseverance. Love you guys! ❤
Great work. Did a very similar home here in NZ about 10 years ago. Loved them and lived in them for 5 years with the kids. Good luck and am enjoying your work.
I’ve enjoyed watching your videos, and the progress you’ve made. I can’t wait to see what the finished house will look like.
Y’all had me laughing, especial when Bear bore witness to what actually happened in the pond.
You two are just too cute! I’m enjoying the process! Thank you for sharing, this is a project/dream I hope to complete some day
You guys make a fantastic couple! Thanks for sharing this project with us. I really enjoy not just the project, but the way you love each other. Gives me hope for my own future.
I had flash backs of the Buffalo Bill dress scene with that "I am so pretty" line!
You two are hilarious even Bear. Lol, the idea for containers. I was wondering if I was going to something like that I would make a root/tornado escape trailer underground with access from within. Never know one might need a Hidey-hole.
This was my first video and have watched you guys sense!! Looking for container videos and you guys have made it so much more... Definitely relationship goals... Spencer you're definitely a lucky man!
Stoked for you guys! It's coming along beautifully...
Awesome you guys. You are making some real progress. Its so hot around here so I haven't managed to get any big projects going. I just put up some LED lights the other day. You guys work really hard. Have a great weekend, Andreas on Off Grid Sweden 🇸🇪

I am from the future, you guys gonna do a hell of a job on this house!!!! 😂😂
You 2 are great. Thanks for the video. What you did with the 2x4 between the two containers was a very good idea.
Those sides you cut out would make great roofing material.

Floor looks great just a tiny bit of advice for you put the insulation in now before you put down the subfloor cause the less amount of time under the house is so much better for you I know that advice sucks but I'm a general contractor and I built probably close to 200 homes and 15 high rise buildings believe me being under there with tools suuuuuuuccckkkssssss

Ahhh i found it! This is great! This is the step me and my lady are at and this helped SO MUCH! Thank you thank you thank you
When cutting out the sides of containers, you need to be really careful that the piece doesn't drop and then fall back inside or otherwise, fall in an uncontrolled, cutting someone pretty seriously. One way to do this is to leave a few inches uncut on either side, at the bottom, and cut out the rest, push the top out, so that it falls and then cut the strips keeping it attached at the bottom.
Those corrugated metal pieces make great window and door awnings and porch roofs

Greg Alan Edwards and keeping our solar gain in the summer, while letting it in with the lower winter sun is one of the easiest ways to save on energy costs and have a more comfortable climate. Make sure there is thermal mass in the floor as well.
“Life Uncontained”...in a container 😂👌👌
Thank you for a new video. I love watching you two work, play and some goofing off.
I am an electrician by trade, I am also a carpenter and cabinet maker. Over the years I have picked up plumbing, having finished the house my wife and I finished ourselves. My wife does dry wall and tiling. She did our kitchens and bathrooms. We did most of our home in porcelain, granite, marble and hardwood. My hobby is hot rods, building and painting. I have a question, I have stick and tig welders. What are you using for welding jobs on your containers? The corrugated metal probably needs mig, what are you using? What are the requirements for wiring? I suspect EMT, or BX. Couldnt find any references in our electrical code. We are planning a container house, to downsize our life. We have been watching your progress, good job. Congrats Carl
You should have framed it by mounting boards onto the containers with joists hangers the containers will have movement over time
Good stuff guys---
You guys are hilarious! I love watching your videos. Not only informative but also having fun with it and making memories. Look forward to seeing more progress!
Nice to see you guys tackle this. Our friends let us stay on their ranch and we built a very similar setup. Patience is key, set daily, weekly goals and adjust as needed.Windows and doors through metal were challenging but when done really assisted with air flow. Good luck, cant wait for the next progress vid.
She is very pretty, i connected two 2 story sheds at my place each cost 11k cut the walls off one side on each and connected added supports for the second floor, its like a mini house. :) (230 acres)

Aside from your project and filming you'r music selection is mellow cool. Thanks for that. So often time I MUST hit the mute button. Not trivial to this viewer. The way you two have maximized your 'space' is inventive. Signed: Jim; Fanning Springs FL.

love finding these channels! getting ready to clear our property and start building a shipping container home ♥
Going to be a nice space!
Did you guys share the final plans for this build yet? Curious what you’re going for and enjoy watching! Cheers!
Just got up to speed and enjoying the progress..Had me laughing a few times, ty.

Looks good! I wouldn't grind another thing on the floor. Use your plywood or osb decking....then overlay the whole floor with a layer of ridgid foam. Let the metal press up into the foam....then screw down another layer of plywood on top of foam. Nice job so far.
Nice video. 2 thoughts, it would have been easier to cut the lip down before you added the floor joists and 2nd if you had opened the distance between the shipping containers to the standard width of dimensional lumber you would have cut down on the amount of saw work needed and you would have gained a little more square footage on your new home. Beyond those little things I love the idea of the shipping containers, it is a super idea!
Presently doing the same but with four containers. Always fun to see other people's projects thank you for sharing
I would have gotten all the lower grinding work done before I put in the floor joists, it would have been easier on your back and knees.
You should have used the scrap pieces to join the two and add more square footage to it.
Oh dear, you two are adorable!❤
Nice progress, glad Bear was able to supply his witness statement to the action.
Spencer........I seriously, respectfully, envy you, that woman is gorgeous 👍
Just catching up the episodes I missed!
My blessings for young and jolly couple. Love you guys
I love it when a woman isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty, you both are awesome nice work, she's beautiful, she looks fun to be with and she's a keeper. Take care.
So since i dont have a new episode im going back to here where bi first started
Curious why they didn't put vapor barrier underneath their container and floor. Won't they eventually have vegetation growing underneath and into their floor. What about insulation under their floors???
Although I’ve watched this episode when it was first posted, going back when it was only you two and Bear as well as the challenges ahead was interesting.
Love these early ones! Still too cute!!
Noooooo, Say its not true.... You should have welded square or rectangle tubing not put wood on metal. thats a disaster in a few years. Metal and primed. Is how I do it, it also adds strength and makes the left and right sides into one full unit. Woon in contact with metal invites moisture and will mean more rust on metal and rotting of wood.
@OmmerSyssel
5 жыл бұрын
Sounds reasonable, as well as the total time spent cutting only metal, would be even less than their complicated solution. He welded on the construction anyway
@jfro1963

Use sealer on the wood, prevent moisture and helps with insects as well.

I was wondering why he was using wood?
@christ4edwoods207
5 жыл бұрын
I would of cast a level foundation and weld the 2 containers together. Land shifts and sink. The wood center is a futer headache. You can get hard wood but it's hard to work with. The sides cut outs can be used as dividers for kitchen and bath...
