Horns of that era look so classy and sturdy, just beautiful. Maybe it's in my mind but I don't get the same feeling from looking at a shiny new one.

The Conn New Wonder, Transitional models and 6M's are among the best sounding horns ever. I won't argue about the mechanism, as I'm used to them so they're not a problem for me. They just have a tone that no other horn, including Mark VI's have, and I've played lots of horns in my life as I also sold saxes for a living before retiring.

this is essentially model 6M, because it has that type neck and body. it PLAYS like a 6M. from here on out most changes were in the area of keywork...till 1937 when the horn got a new neck design (type VIII, marked with a stamp). the big drag about the microtuner is that major tuning adjustments are slow. (the type VIII got a faster tuner for that reason.) if you're just a hair sharp/flat, it helps. i've never had one leak - not sure they do - but they can stiffen up and are tricky to lubricate.

According to Stoher Music, it is vital to get a good neck seal, so maybe have the loose neck looked at? Beautiful alto, congrats 🍾

I have clips playing it. I didn't like where the video ended up but I will reedit a new with clips compared to the 6M and Mark VI.

What the difference of conn wonder ll 6M transisional with the chu berry? Both seems the same. I just got the nickle plated 1927 Conn New Wonder ll. Actually, thats my first horn.

@@nokijanuaralso many transitionals and most all the 6Ms have the octave mechanism on the bottom of the neck, while NWIIs have it on top, and have a less fancy looking mechanism. Further, the adjustable thumb rest isn’t on any of my NWIIs
