~Education is Key~
-----------
Welcome to MASpets! A channel dedicated to providing high quality information about exotic, alternative, and unique pets, as well as traditional ones. This channel supports the freedom of pet owners to care for the species of their choice as long as that animal has been shown to thrive in human care under the right conditions. We strongly believe that facts and education, not admonition, is the best policy for encouraging potential pet keepers to choose the best pet for their living situation. We believe there is no such thing as a ‘good pet’, and do not promote any particular species as pets, however we understand that the desire of some to own something different is essential to their expression and existence as an individual. Whether you are considering a pet, or are just interested in the subject, this channel invites you to become informed about the exciting world of animal diversity.
There are hundreds of species of exotic pets! Some examples include: fennec fox, porcupine, serval, wallaby, boa constrictor, rainbow crab, bush baby, zebra, squirrels, ostrich, kinkajou, macaws, springhare, lemur, leopard gecko, tarantula, capybara, sloth, owl, cockatoo, muntjac deer, lion, short-tailed opossum, raccoon, scorpion, green iguana, and more.
Domesticated exotic pets include domestic rats, hamster, gerbil, goldfish, guinea fowl, Bengal cat, peacock, fainting goats, and sugar gliders.
We post introductory videos to animals that can be kept as pets, care tips, address controversies, legal issues, and more. Please see the posted links for more information about this subject!

    I think a big part of the public safety angle is if there is a natural disaster for example & the police don't know who, has what, it poses a danger to the public. Nobody wants a repeat of Zanesville. When first responders go into an emergency situation they shouldn't have to be worried about somebodies big cats being loose. A number of the owners have animals in places that are prone to tornados, hurricanes etc. Don't you think it is important for emergency personel to be able to properly prepare for what they may face? The constant breeding of cubs is the reason the big cats keep getting dumped into private hands. If you cut off the demand for cubs being bred it helps with the safety issue in the long run. No one thinks the young cubs are going to eat the neighbours children. However when they are older they pose a definite risk to ppls safety should they get loose or some moron decides to reach into a cage. It happens & sadly it usually results in the animal being killed. As long as private owner register their animals they can keep what they have they just can't aquire more.

    It's perfectly reasonable to have owners report what dangerous large cats they possess. That's a lot different from a ban. Animals can still escape from zoos, so that threat hasn't changed at all. We've actually yet to locate even a single non-USDA licensed big cat owner legally owning cats. It's possible none even exist at this point.

    The Tiger King was obviously cruel at times to control his Tigers! Tiger s are very intelligent and cunning and can think and rationalize and they can hold grudges against those who have done them wrong!!

    @@slaughterhater He most likely does, which means he just needs to follow the rules on how he exhibits the animals. He might technically need to be licensed even just for showing the animals on his KZread channel. People can view his animals from 15 feet away, but should they inch forward and touch a big cat cub, he'd be in violation of a Federal law. The BCPSA doesn't even have the silver lining of stopping the foolery going on down in Florida.

    Jacob told me in his comments section he doesn’t plan on opening to the public when I asked but now he wouldn’t be able to even if he wanted to. He likely prefers to educate the public through his channel. I have always believed it is his right as the property owner to choose to stay closed to the public.

    I unsubscribed from Jacob Feder once I found out his animal rescue videos are staged and he also has ties to Doc Antle and ZWF Miami. ZWF Miami has been on PETA’s radar for years and they’ve been hit with animal welfare violations too. ZWF Miami also supplies Jacob Feder with cubs to raise for the cub petting industry. They had given him a lion cub to raise and then that cub disappeared from his channel. This new law will effectively shut down ZWF Miami.

    You don't understand the 15ft rule. It is so people don't loose fingers. You can have a permanent piece of renforced glass and be right beside the tigers and that satisfies the law. It is for public safety.

  • @Maspets

    @Maspets

    What is it that you think I don't understand? Why are people allowed to 'lose fingers' from cheetahs and clouded leopards,? Why are tiger and lion cubs supposed to be sealed away from the public unless someone is donating millions to the zoo's conservation program? Why do you think the government has the right to tell someone they'll be fined or even thrown in jail if they let a member of the public pet their tiger cub? So is it that no one has the right to touch ANY animal, or are big cats special somehow?

    MASPets, what are your feelings anti-cetacean captivity groups popping up on Facebook that are encouraging their members to report animal abuse that is probably not real animal abuse? Like people being allowed to hug dolphins or being allowed to feed them?

    She never claimed it was a human right to pet a Tiger or big cat! My opinion is that these Beautiful Powerful Creature s should be allowed to remain free to roam in their own natural environment s and not be held in captivity unless they are found to be injured or handicapped and can't fend for themselves then they should be captured and placed into protective custody !

    My personal opinion is that I don't like to see any animal held in captivity! I feel that those beautiful powerful animals should be allowed to roam free in the wild in their own natural environment! But that is just my personal opinion! I also feel that if an animal has been injured or handicapped or become s too old it should have the opportunity to be rescued and taken to a place where it can be cared for and be allowed to live out it's natural time as comfortable and freely as possible while I'm protective captivity! And those animals should be allowed to be viewed by people!! But unfortunately I have seen the hurt and the Demoralized spirit of animal s being held against their will! It's a sad situation! But I understand that some people don't feel like I do and have different opinions on animal rights!
