    Because Asian countries like Korea, Japan and China are not multicultural countries. These countries are recently becoming multicultural or multiracial countries. So, it was very easy for some foreigners speaking Asian languages fluently to get famous in the past but it's a little bit difficult for them to be famous now because it's not difficult anymore to find some foreigners speaking them fluently. The reason why Jonathan got famous in Korea is not because he is foreigner speaking Korean fluently but because he was very funny and positive guy.

    What a lovely interview! Jonathan is so mature and self-aware for his age, and I love that he's able to laugh at himself. I think he's absolutely right about his presence in South Korea- it will have a positive effect and make it easier for other African people to go there and feel accepted. I was fascinated by the story of the man who touched his skin and could not believe that it was real. I don't think that most Koreans dislike people with dark skin, I think they just live in a very homogeneous society and do not have much exposure to foreigners. It gives me hope to see how Jonathan has been completely accepted into Korean culture. I also love his two best friends! They were so cute. The taller guy was like the comedian who is very honest, and the guy with the glasses is more kind and considerate. Thanks for sharing this story, Asian Boss!!

    As a Korean myself, I 100% agree with what you have described about Koreans. We are two of the most homogenous and gynophobic societies with Japan. We have been homogenous in race, culture, language on and on for over 5000 years and i am not surprised that there are some elderly people who still don't have a proper perspective over the different races and culture. However, Korea has been changing drastically these days and 4.9% of the population is from out of Korea today. I hope we may find the better way to mingle with the people from the different race and culture in Korea and make the better Korea. Thank you for your perspective over the racial issue we have.

    I like the honesty of his friend who said... 'he's black'. He was curious enough to become his friend and looked at him as a person and not his colour. Happy to hear he wants to have a balance in his cultural identity and he's showing the world and also Koreans that his colour is not the issue, but his intelligence is. When the public listen to the media that say... all blacks can sing, dance and know hip-hop, it's like saying Koreans are known for their beauty products such as skin bleaching and cosmetic surgery as everyone want that white skin and eyelids and straight nose. That becomes a racist issue and it's hurtful. What a positive image for a high melanin young man as a true representation for people of colour.

    When the hype of Black people who speak Korean will cool off in the Korean entertainment industry, he and more important all other delusional Black people who would have trust such videos will face the tough reality of the Korean society 💩 Koreans are racist by definition. It's not about it's in their genetics. It's about it's what their society is and what their culture is and promotes. Koreans love having the right to move abroad. Oh god! They do love this and believe it's a right for them. But they do massively hate non-Koreans doing to same in Korea. That's the reality. That's what is Korea and who are Koreans. This video is just another propaganda. And after all, any smart person can understand it. This boy is famous and kinda accepted because he's a Black African who can speak Korean so an exotic curiosity who can amuse bored Koreans. End of story. This is what human zoos were in the past. Disgusting.

    rdvgrd6 I saw that interview, I cannot say that they are bad actors because I have not seen much of their work. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they got poorly written scripts. So what specifically did they say that came off as “whiny” to you? From what I saw, they were not complaining a whole lot. They were only explaining what they have experienced. The only complaint I have seen from both the actor and actress interviewed is that the reason that foreign actors/actresses get a bad reputation, because the foreigners chosen for the roles are not actors and have had no acting experience. Which I believe is a valid complaint.

  • @rdvgrd6

  • @slapdatbutton8931

    @slapdatbutton8931

    rdvgrd6 The first two quotes I can sympathize with the actors on that one. I do believe that because they kept on casting non-professional actors for roles that they got a bad repution. The second quote you mentioned is quoted incorrectly. I remember her saying something along the lines of “If you are not losing weight, why even try acting?”. I also believe it is a Korean forcing their beauty standards onto someone not Korean. The last quote you mentioned I think may have been misquoted or a misunderstanding of what was said. The way you put it, it does sound bad. But from what I remember, the actor (who had the last words in the video, instead of the actress) was just mentioning how fortunate he was to have opportunities in Korea. I do remember him saying that finding roles in the US film industry would be hard, but he acknowledged that his skill was not up to US standards yet. He was not whining because he recognizes his lack of skill compared to a lot of American actors. But I do believe that his credentials were ignored because someone else fit the casting directors’ image. In fact, I also remember that he is constantly practicing and studying (I think the same for the actress), and that shows that he is willing to constantly improve. So from what I saw, both the actor and actress were not whining.

    One thing I have noticed with some of your reporters is that when people tell a story about them being bullied or being called names or just something bad happened to them, the reporter laughs about it. Here around 7min mark when the friend talks about the man touching Jonathan and how another kid called him a name that he didn't like, the reporters first response is to laugh before they tell her that he cried because of it. I've noticed this with some Japan videos as well. Maybe the person interviewed does not care, but it just feels like a very odd reaction to laugh about the mean name someone gave a person. If Jonathan had told the story and laughed about it, it would have been different, but idk, feels like a reporter maybe shouldn't laugh about something like that.

And she probably didn't know it would have been such a serious discrimination because a few old men (not common,but Old people's behavior is sometimes hard to predict for young people) sonetines touch people even if they're not black.
