    I'm a 4 with a very strong 9 influence, in a sense I consider myself 50/50 bc a lot of tests have scored me so close on these two. I'm more comfortable with tritypes where I can include both and have a fun little extra number bc trying to find The One™ was just too exhausting. Just putting it out there for anyone who may be in the same position!

    I got type 2w1. It's pretty accurate. I love working as a nursing student with elderly people so that makes sense. For a while I thought I was a 4 since that is my 'growth type'. Becoming more like a 4 helps me take care of myself, express myself with art and music and set boundaries. So thank you :)

    I just took it on Cloverleaf, and I didn't know how to answer some questions cuz I legit do both. In times of adversity, I shift between negative and positive. But it did give me 7w6 which is what my friend said I probably am and she was accurate about my MBTI type. I'm either 6w7 or 7w6 cuz I feel like both impact me a lot. I'm kinda having an identity and school crisis rn and this is the third time I'm crying in the span of 2 days. I'm so fucking depressed. The one thing keeping me from not going crazy is one of my favorite manhwa

    I don’t know about the cloverleaf test. Got a 1w2, which is how I come off to people, but that’s the shell I’ve learned to use on people who cannot deal with my real nature of 8w7.

    Francesca Pellegrino 8s and 1s are a common mistyping so I can see how that could happen- both strong-willed, both in the Instinctive Triad. One difference between the two is that 1s try to persuade people who are resisting them, but 8s just steamroll through people who are against them.

  • @francesca.pellegrino

    @francesca.pellegrino

    Abbey Howe that’s totally fair. I have to force myself to actively persuade people, because I would much rather do things on my own rather than waste my time convincing them I’m right first. But, you know, businesses don’t like that, so I have to play pretend as a 1 a LOT.

    You are really good at explaining things in a way that I understand them. I have googled how to tell if you make decisions with your heart, gut, or mind and I am not finding anything helpful. 2, 6, and 9 all seem like heart, but they come from different places. Would you be willing to make a video (or videos) to help make the distinction please?

    Hi Anita! Thanks for this comment... I am realizing I really didn't do this question justice while trying to keep the video in 1 minute. Which kind of defeats the purpose of helping you discover you!!! So I am going to make a video about how to tell what your instinctive stance is (withdrawn, dutiful, assertive) and can also make a video about how to tell if your decisions are coming from heart, gut, or mind!

    @@AbbeyHowe I typically always get a 2 on tests... but I have a little bit of anxiety over the last few years and and have been scoring high on 6 as well. I was wondering if I have sort of changed but I think even with anxiety I am rooted in being a 2. I just got 2 with the Cloverleaf test again. I easily think I can relate to feeling like a 6 sometimes too. I often wonder if the enneagram accounts for people dealing with depression or anxiety? I think anxiety has changed a little bit of my personality and thinking.

    @@audreykuczka4081 I think it's quite possible you have both a 2 and 6 in your tritype. I also think any type can have anxiety or depression, but the ways they deal with it will be different. Look at the different "health levels" of each type, ranging from healthy to very unhealthy. A few more things to consider: How do you deal with stress? The 2 is supposed to become more like an 8, while the 6 is supposed to become more like a 3 (direction of disintegration). What do you aspire towards in growth? The 2's direction of growth is 4, while the 6's direction of growth is 9. Here is a quote from the Enneagram Institute on 2 vs 6: "Misidentifying Twos and Sixes This is a fairly common mistype because these two types share a number of key traits. Both are warm and engaging and want to be liked-although, more precisely, Sixes want to have the approval and support of others, whereas Twos want to be loved and to be important to others. Both ingratiate themselves with people, although Sixes do so by being playful and silly, by bantering and teasing those they want to elicit an emotional (protective) response from. Average Twos also ingratiate themselves, but more from an implied position of superiority-they are warm and friendly, although the implication is that they are offering their love and friendship, their approval and advice, rather than that they are seeking it from the other, at least at first. In short, the feeling-tone of both types is completely different: Sixes warily invite selected others into their lives, whereas Twos throw out the net of their feelings with more abandon and see whom they can sweep into the fold. Sixes want to create partnerships with others that will support them in their bid to be more independent, but start to feel anxious if the relationship becomes too merged or "mushy." Twos want to be close with others, and the more intimacy and merging they have with their loved ones, the better. Both types are emotional, corresponding to the Jungian feeling types-the Two is the extroverted feeling type (PT, 62-63), and the Six, the introverted feeling type (PT, 222-223). Twos "wear their hearts on their sleeves" and are openly warm and demonstrative about how they feel toward others. Sixes, by contrast, are often ambivalent about their feelings, frequently sending ambiguous, mixed signals to other people. As they deteriorate, average to unhealthy Twos become increasingly covert in their dealings with people, ultimately becoming manipulative while concealing their true motives even from themselves. By contrast, average to unhealthy Sixes become wildly reactive (overreacting) and consciously confused about their feelings, ultimately becoming paranoid. Indeed, Sixes are consciously assailed by anxiety, indecision, and doubts-and they look to trusted others (especially some kind of authority-figure) to reassure them and help them build their confidence and independence. Twos are also sometimes anxious, of course, as all human beings are; however, they are not as indecisive or assailed with doubts, nor do Twos consult an authority figure for answers. On the contrary, as they grow in self-importance, average Twos usually make themselves into authority figures, dispensing advice on all life issues to the people within their spheres of influence. In short, average to unhealthy Twos believe they will only get love by having others depend on them, whereas average to unhealthy Sixes increasingly fear becoming dependent on others, while actually becoming more dependent. At the end of the Continuum, the differences can be seen most starkly between the unhealthy Two's psychosomatic suffering and romantic obsession and the unhealthy Six's paranoia and volatile lashing out. Contrast Twos such as Merv Griffin and Sammy Davis, Jr., with Sixes such as Johnny Carson and Mel Gibson."

    I’m thinking about sharing this video with a couple people I know who are struggling to find their type. But I wish there had been just a tiny bit more context about what is meant by “moving away” or the others. I’m not sure they’ll know which they do based just on the words. Any advice on how to add a sentence or two of explanation when I share this?

    Hi Danielle! I apologize for not being more helpful about the stances. I realize now that by trying to keep the video short, I actually shorted you on helpful information... I'm planning on making a video this month all about the instinctive stances so stay tuned! In terms of how to share this info, here's some context: Assertive Style (types 3, 7, and 8): these types react to stress by facing it head-on, instead of retreating and hiding from the problem. they typically believe that problems/stress are connected to them and thus, they are part of the solution. basically, this style reacts to difficult situations assertively whether that be taking control (8), pointing to accomplishments or trying to gain praise/attention (3), or seeking satisfaction in a proactive way (7) Withdrawn Style (types 4, 5, and 9): these types react to stress by moving away from others and towards their own inner worlds. they typically feel burnt out by the energy needed to be dutiful or assertive and find the easiest way to deal with difficulty is to disappear. This could look like daydreaming or collapsing into feelings (4), self-isolating and detaching from others (5), or focusing on comfort and minimizing their own needs (9). Dutiful Style (types 1, 2, and 6): these types react to stress by serving others. they believe that they have to DO something in order to GET something so they become compliant and try to fix the problem by meeting other's expectations. typically, this means that they suppress their own ideas and desires in order to placate others. This could look like following the rules (1), increasing helpfulness (2), or being loyal and committed (6). Hope that helps!
