Configuration Mini-Series | How To Use Configurations In Drawings | Automated Drawings

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this third part of our Configurations Mini-Series we are going to see how configurations work in detailed drawings. We are also going to take a look at Automated Drawings that was recently added to Fusion. Automated Drawings can save a lot of time and provide a great starting point for any detailed drawing.
In this video I suggest you carry on with your own configured part from Video 1 or any configured part you have.

let's have a look at those automated dimensions - at 4 min 12 sec, the lower face has 4 CSunk holes, but only one has the correct coordinates and visibly, they're not aligned. On the upper left view, if I'm being generous in assuming holes are in line with one another, i'm still missing the left x ref to left hand upper and lower pair. Looking at the right upper view, assuming again the angled face is coincident with top inner edge and assuming the thickness is in the material description ( because otherwise it's not mentioned) and only by assuming the angle is 45 degrees can the height at the bottom height of the angle be known. If this was a person doing a dimensioned drawing exam, it would result in a big fail and the manager would not think this person was not suitable as a draftsperson. What's the point if such basic errors are generated even on such a simple part! Honestly don't you see my point. 416 views and 22 likes but nobody else has mentioned this...

Automated drawings are a starting point and not a replacement for creating a complete detailed drawing. There are options for dimension scheme and sliders to increase/decrease the number of dimensions included on a drawing. I would never trust it to spit out a drawing and send to a shop for manufacture, but its a great starting point to begin a detailed drawing. Sort of like setting up a template. I will do a video just on the topic of automated drawings in the near future, but you are correct just clicking automated drawing and accepting something that looks ok isn't the end of the process.

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign OK, but I'm not sure it's a good point to start a manufacturing drawing from either unless with guidance rules. Maybe an overall XYZ, for a catalogue entry but for fit, form and function I doubt it. Same with other auto dimension tools in many cases. Thanks for replying though.
