Why don’t you do a story on delivery riders income? I’m sure that’s a story that almost any Singaporean is curious about.

@@commieskungflu1635 rider earn approx 4 to 5 dollars per order. How much they earn ranges from a few hundred to almost 6k. It really depends how much u want to work and the quality of life that u r willing to sacrifice.

omg this is so nice to see them open up. as a regular foodpanda customer, i dont go through but understand the distress they are experiencing. we shld all be thankful for all the frontliners :)

Ordering and then handing over to the delivery person....THE BEST way to show generosity ❤

I use to work as a nurse , now I work with panda I can get the same salary but have to work on weekends without bringing home any work stress and crazy patients and their family .

@@commieskungflu1635 It highly depends on gender and what you get offered, I have female friends who starts at 2.2k all the way to 2.8k, while I have 2 male friends that started at 2.9k and 4.4k. Its crazy to think that some nurses thats fresh out of poly can earn more then what most doctors will earn in their first 7-10 years of bond. Although I think my friend got lucky as it was the start of mass vaccination and hospitals has a huge shortage of manpower, so they sign a contract with him for 12 months 4.4k. They are even hiring people who can vaccinate at $22/h or swabbers at $26/h back then with no prior training or background.

​@@commieskungflu1635 Just for your info I've a friend who deliver bottle water for a living, those 16 or 20 liters type, he get paid by number of bottles his is sending per day. Before covid19 on a good month he can make over $10k a month. Now he is not making much because of office closure. So delivery riders have been making a lot before the raise of current gig economy, there's nothing new about hardworking delivery riders making the same pay or even more than many white collar workers.

@@commieskungflu1635 my salary is below 10k and there's a reason why I'm sharing about my friend and not me. Some of his clients premise does not have a lift, so he have to carry maybe like 20 bottle of waters up to level 2. I don't know about you after listening to this I don't have any interest in doing his job because that's like carrying 20kg up 20 levels(1 bottle per trip) or 40kg up 10 levels (2bottle per trip) . That's not all those stupid industrial building have super high ceiling, so stairs is higher too. The salary can be good but do you really want your children to go through this type of job? Study is not just to make more money, but more importantly to make easier money.

Salute to you guys for all you do to help ensure safe and efficient delivery of food! You are an inspiration!

I will say that restaurants are the ones who are harder to deal with compared to customers. “Just wait outside”, “cannot wait just cancel” the customer ask me to ask how long more and that’s their reply. Not all but most. I also don’t understand why when some restaurants have a long line waiting outside for both dine in and takeaways and the walk in takeaways have a minimum waiting time of 40mins. Yet they still continue to accept delivery orders. Your restaurant is already operating at its maximum capability and is unable to keep up with the orders. Why don’t they stop accepting orders and continue when the crowd is manageable. Do they earn more? I doubt so since the kitchen is unable to cope. Dine in, takeaway customers are angry and you make delivery riders waste 1hour of the peak period just waiting for your food. Restaurants also love to keep serving the walk in customers first. I can be waiting at the restaurant for 10mins, which means they have already received the order for about 20mins and a customer who walks in then will get his order before me. They can’t wait but I can? Their time is more valuable than mine? For this situation I wouldn’t mind if there’s a team who deals with the delivery orders separately. It will be understandable since there’s a different queue for the orders. But if it’s just one set of workers dealing with both the delivery and walk in customers then please deal with the orders in sequence. My time is as valuable as your walk in customer.

@@Syaznisa mostly Bigger chains like Macs does switch off the apps.The problem are usually smaller shop like Hawker centre or neighbourhood stalls. They don't bother switching off the apps,which is why sometimes some items can go missing/not delivered because they run out of stock.

@@tommyfield8449 the devices that food panda and grab food sucks. We will put something out of stock and a few mins later everything resets by itself and an order for an unavailable food will still come out.

I don't earn much and seldom order but when I do if I can tip at least a dollar extra or text something encouraging like ride safely I feel it means a lot. Instead of words bringing them down but there are sometimes black sheep from what I've seen online

I need to confess too. I use to eat customer's food when I was working part time at a restaurant. That was already 20 years ago. Sorry.

I feel like asking the riders do to more than deliverying your food is kinda fucked up, for one your wasting their time, 2nd If you have some special request, you better give tips.

I only scared one day ill be killed by the speeding cyclist or pmd...

One time I tipped a driver $400

A nation of delivery riders is nothing to be proud of. Only shows that certain cohort of singaporeans not innovative or creative enough. Not enough entrepreneurs and risk takers. Too many mediocre workers. You are paid or rewarded in relation to the size of problems you can solve, not how "hard" you slog. And it is the higher paid workers who can afford to buy food delivery services. Older singaporeans are too cheap, and younger ones depend on their parents.

@@JoaoPalhinha9 Because in singapore, those who complain alot and blame others alot think they are entitled to a good life regardless of their talents, skills and effort. There is a dependency culture among those who hate the govt.
